Intermediate Series: Non Flared Spinner Ring

  • I love spinner rings, but I wanted a non-flared style. Follow along as I go step-by-step through my process for creating this particular style of spinner.
    MATERIALS USED:

    20g sterling silver sheet
    16g sterling silver square wire
    #204 double half round sterling silver wire

    Varying grits of wet/dry sandpaper:
    400 grit
    1000 grit

    AMMONIA CLEANING SOLUTION RECIPE:
    2 cups water
    2 tbsp. ammonia
    1 tbsp. Dawn original dish washing liquid
    Mix all ingredients together and store in a tight container. Best if used warm.
    PICKLE SOLUTION RECIPE:
    6 tbsp PH Down (found in pool section of Big Box Stores or Pool Supply Store)
    3 cups Distilled Water
    This solution works best heated and most simply use a Crock Pot to keep it warm. Add the water first and then add the PH Down Crystals. Stir until dissolved. You can simply add more distilled water as the solution evaporates.
    BARRIER FLUX RECIPE:
    Denatures Alcohol
    Boric Acid

    Great tutorial! I very much appreciated your use of hand tools, rather than extremely expensive equipment that most people can't afford, to construct the ring.

    If I used a wide band ring sizer, will I still need to go up .5 in size?

    Oh my goodness....the ring on your right hand with the big beautiful topaz looking stone, did you make that? If so can you please make a video showing how to make settings like this. I have some faceted stones that I would LOVE to be able to work with I just dont understand how to make settings for them and you teach better than anyone I have ever watched!!! 😳😀🙏❤

      I must confess, I totally cheated with that ring. I ordered a setting from Rio and simply set the stone.
