- Did you know that this standard Vekoma SLC was known as Hangman and had the traditional yellow supports with red track for over a decade until it received this blue/green makeover and renamed Twisted Typhoon in 2011?
Wild Adventures is located in Valdosta, Georgia and is best known for being featured in the movie "Zombieland".

I have lived within an hour of here for awhile now, and it's one of the best cheaper theme park options around. Will always be The Hangman to me and my friends! :D

I actually rode this at least once on my 2017 trip to Wild Adventures. Ever since, I've been fond of roller coasters that beat me up. This means that rides like Viper and the various Cyclones are fan favorites to me, given how rough they are; they shake you all over the place -- and I love it. Others can say it's uncomfortable, but heck, I wouldn't even mind a perfectly circular loop, which, I believe, is way more uncomfortable than Son of Beast ever will be.
I have been anticipating twisted typhoon for almost three months now. I'm headed to wild adventures on sunday and now im terrified. Thx for helping lose my confidence, KASEY
Its honestly pretty fun. Even though you posted this 10 moths ago, you should still try it. I was dragged onto this ride by my friend and was surprised to see how fun it was. Your weight doesn't come down on you either. Trust me, I hate thrill rides but this was awesome :)
I did it! Twisted typhoon is now my fave ride there. The first time was like a leap of faith but then it was fun. It was amazing and we did it twice. My first trip there we passed right by it, knowing it was too scary. My sencond trip, me and my BFF agreed to do it. The only thing is I kept thinking my feet would hit the bars. Idk why people tend to complain about these slc's. I loved it!
Me too! I felt like I had to keep my feet close to the seat or else I would kick one of the support beams but it was fun
Damn it’s been years since I’ve been to WA, I remember this used to be called the "HANGMAN" and was like orange and wild west themed. Also just found out they retired the CHEETAH permanently. Imo one of the best coasters at the park👌

Its actually known for being one of the few SLCs that are quite smooth, its no B&M, but it at least shows the SLC can be a decent ride when taken care of.

@@fishingthegreatlakes3739 B&M is a roller coaster manufacturer and SLC'S are a model from a different manufacturer that are usually rough
It's relatively smooth for what it is, but the brakes at the end are just too jarring. As others said, it's no B&M, but it's quite good for a generic Vekoma, alibet a little short.

They sounded like they were actually having fun. Maybe this one isn't as bad or these people are tall enough like me to stick their head foward out of the restraints and avoid headbanging.
I'm a smaller guy and it's never been bad. One of the few SLCs that aren't awful
It's not that bad, if you can manage a little headbanging and lock yourself in tight you'll enjoy it.
As far as the course of this ride goes, it looks kind of like a inverted steel version of the Blue Hawk at Six Flags Over Georgia.
So, funny story about that. Blue Hawk has a long history, beginning at Morey's Piers in New Jersey. In the late 80's, they wanted a new thrill coaster to go on their flagship pier. Space was at a premium, so they commissioned Vekoma to build a custom layout that would fit above and around the existing water park and log flume. For various reasons (money, or lack thereof), Morey's Piers had to back out of the project and the ride was instead built at Dinosaur Pier nearby as Kamikaze, where it stayed for a while before being moved to SFOG as Ninja. It was later themed to Blue Hawk and received new, more comfortable trains.
So what does all this have to do with the Vekoma SLC? And why _does_ the SLC have such an oddball layout, anyway? Well, Morey's Piers still wanted that roller coaster above the water park and around the log flume, so they commissioned Vekoma again to build a prototype of their new inverted roller coaster model there. For various reasons (money, or lack thereof) the project was delayed, and Vekoma decided to mass-produce the layout. They got two coasters open before the Morey's Piers SLC, which operates to this day as Great Nor'Easter.
So the reason that Blue Hawk looks like a sit-down version of the Vekoma SLC, and the reason that the SLC layout is so weird, is that both layouts were designed to fit in the same tight space on a crowded amusement pier!

It's got the same tracks since it is a Vekoma, but this one has no vertical loops. It has the more whippy inversions. The design is a lot different.
This still the best ride I am going to get back on it when I com back on it
You should ride in the very back it goes way faster.

Rode it a couple of weeks ago...for being my first SLC, it was...bearable. I mean I was holding on to the restraints so that I don't get headbanged, but it only beat me up from my waist down, ha.

This ride hurt my back for no reason still hurts I went to the park days ago
I got too scared to do this one bc I get motion sick really easily and I HATE going upside down. I did swamp thing instead which was still fun
This was the only rollercoaster that actually hurt so bad, and ive done big rollercoaster like the incredible hulk, and velosicoaster. Would not recommend it, because it hurts your head pretty badly.

Damn...they fuckin renamed it. I'll miss calling it hangman. It's still my fav coaster though. I have yet to check out Boomerang.
How does Boomerang feel? As in speed, track smoothness, etc.
Some of the seats were red taped and nobody was allowed to sit there so that freaked me out. It was alright, very rough.
That happens on occasion. Sometimes there is a fault with a sensor or something that is detected in morning testing; if the ride is safe to run otherwise, they will lock out the seat with the faulty sensor and then replace it (the sensor, not the seat) after the park closes.

that intimidating orange color. wild adventures was under rated
R.I.P to Hangman. The orange did intimidate me as the height, but once I got the courage to ride it. I fell in love with it. I opened my eyes on the upside loop and saw nothing but the sky. Felt like I was flying for a moment. 🧡🥀
I went on this ride before i forgot what year we went to wild adventure I was in the first row this ride was so fun soon as we got to the too I started to scream like a girl 🤣😂🤣
