Hi Brad… Dick Westbrook here. An outfeed table is a must… I’m sure you are really appreciating less strain on your back. I’m loving your channel. Your livestream last Thursday was fantastic…. I just wish I could follow the comments. They go by pretty quickly! Looking forward to your Friday video.
Table looks great, I split from feed table into the tractor bucket and put it in the wood shed , it took a few years to get the system I have to work good for me. Like watching all your videos
I like how your outfeed table has been modified for your needs! Greatbyounwere able to help that gentleman and his family out. That is what firewood and the firewood community is about, helping others out when needed. Great splitting, you can tell you are working faster which is great for production. I like how your wedge goes down and you can use it as a single or 4 way. This way you are not wasting firewood. It reminds me of the Eastonmade. Great video!
I am sure the table helps a lot. Consider stacking out of your trailer rather then dumping it. Saves your back from bending. I know you had a load going out right away but stacking out of the trailer is much easier and faster
Don't know enough about the out feed table to have a opinion but if you like it its good . You are doing a great job and helping your friends friend will come back to you many times over . I think your attitude is such that you will not be able to keep up with demand for next year can't wait to see . I did watch most of your live stream the other night and I can't help but laugh when I think of Taylor bringing home a boy and introducing you as Dad the retired Trooper with the conceal permit who restores axes in his spare time , I would buy a ticket to see that LOL See you at the top my friend .
Nice out feed table. It's cool how little things can help increase productivity. It's very noble of you to adjust your plans to help that gentleman out. I'm sure you will be able to fill that void in the woodyard.
Thats great Brad, your friend knew he could count on you, even if,it was a long shot. The table looks great. Was a little better built than I was expecting..
Nice work, that table is a very nice compliment to the splitter and will keep you from getting less tired by not having to leg juggle splits or keep bending over to pick up fallen ones.
Your new table will be a big help!! Great helping people in need!! A chilly -7F/-22C this evening as I watched your video but should warm up to freezing by tomorrow evening. 🥶😎
Yep oak is oak lol, some of the knotty pieces of the white can be as bad as hickory or gum as far as stringy, just let the next piece finish pushing it through the knife..that's a huge advantage of a table that and resplitting.the slight drop in table height is for relief as the wood splits through a 4way or 6way a hydraulic wedge won't float up,new one I'm building I dropped the table a few inches not sure how I'm going to like it after using my other one,I built that one even with the beam because that's a floating 4way it's super easy to slide big halves back to resplit..Thanks for the mail bud I will show it on a video and you will see it on the new splitter, have a good one.
That out feed table worked out well Brad! I like that it is slotted to let debris fall through. Pretty good size for plenty of extra work space. Great thing you did for the man needing firewood👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
NICE SET UP . I HAD A TIMBER WOLF SET UP LIKE THAT AND A CONVEYOR AND SOLD THEM BOTH /BACK TO MY OLD SYSTEM/ NOW WE USE MINI SKID SPLITTERS AND KINETIC ENERGY SPLITTERS
Your life just got easier, well worth the wait. It’s red oak, white oak is more of a brownish color inside. There’s over 220 species of oak worldwide, far as I’m concerned for firewood there’s only two, red and white
I know how much you love the feed table. When I added the table on my tractor supply log splitter it was a big difference. My dad said all log splitters should come this way.
Outfield table working great !! Not a thing in the world wrong with helping others in need .. this world needs much more of it IMO.. hats off to you brother and 🍻
Brad I am SSSSSOOOO JEALOUS which I had a splitter set like yours.. Suggestion I think it’s Dude Ranch DIY RUclips channel that uses a IBC tote bottom as a scrap catch under the output tray making it easier for clean up.
Hi Brad I love the idea of splitting into the trailer, and then stacking out of it (as opposed to dumping it). For a small operation like yours, it's neat and efficient and once you perfect the system, you'll know exactly how long it takes per cord, and you will be able to schedule your work flow accordingly. With regard to inventory, you know that you will never have enough. So, you should never turn down a sale when you can make one, or in this case, the opportunity to do a friend a solid. Be well.
Morning brad that table seems to be working well you have come a long way since you first started and hope it will continue i love these vids you keep showing i will keep watching be safe untill next time
Forgot to mention in my earlier comment I think we all can agree that we don’t think you’re putting your splitter to its potential…. I’ve got some wood here in Louisville Kentucky that you could split. LOL
Howdy Brad. This video is so good I gave it two views! Okay, so I have to make a little confession here. I am subbed to so many creators that I have to listen to a lot of content while I drive as opposed to viewing everything. I could tell that this was one that I would need to watch and I'm glad I did. Nice to see that you are pleased with the Outfeed Table, sometimes little things make a big difference. As for helping a friend of a friend, that's a no-brainer. You will be rewarded/blessed well by other means, it's just the way it works. Bless'ns to You and Yours, Tedd
The table is very nice . I would have done the same thing to help out someone in need with the wood . Looking forward to fridays video . Have a great one my friend !!! Del
Hello Brad I'm Anthony from Georgia. Just pick up your channel a couple weeks ago and really enjoying it. I do believe the wood your splitting on this episode is water oak. Like you said oak is oak and it burns great. 🔥
Awesome been waiting to see it ya weather today is high of 73 here in east TX so ya better go out and split what I got left split or least part of it 1.5 truck loads thrown in
Outfeed table looks great. To have the OEM work with you on a prototype model is awesome. I’m sure the input by you and your followers will be very useful to Ramsplitter. Keep up the good work. Take care👍
I highly agree with you having an outfeed table will help you out a lot. But only suggestion I can is to maybe beef up the main support beams that hook up to your log splitter hitch and possibly putting in a stabilizing leg at the very end to keep it from bending.
Good job Brad! You were like a kid in a candy store with your new table. I’m retired now but I understand how that makes your job so much easier. Also you definitely hit a home run with that splitter. Your production has increased significantly. Again congratulations on a great RUclips channel.
hi there the table looks real good . i am not sure but i think red oak is called red oak beasuse of the leafs are red in the fall not the inside color . i will let you check in to it . good video john
I have a rugged made splitter and your table looks just like the table on mine I've had it about a year and a half and love the way the table works, I also have a conveyor, the wood goes right off the table up the conveyor and right into the trailer, never hits the ground after it is cut and stays nice and clean , from the trailer I back it up to where I stack it , enjoy your videos
I talked to John also today. He recommended your videos. Just getting into this looking for something to do when I retire. I have 20 acres in Indiana. What model is this splitter. I'm really enjoying your videos too
That is certainly a good retrofit outfeed table for that splitter. It would be better if there would be someway to store it on the splitter so that moving the splitter would be easier.
With my farm store splitter, did two facecord in just over an hour Saturday. Was dang impressed. Wonder how my production will be once get a similar splitter to yours. Gotta get cutting and splitting and selling to pay for it!
Next time your messing with it - tilt dump trailer up so the table is even with floor - just let the splitter push the wood into trailer. You can get a lot of wood in there before you will need to start chucking it. The table might need to be modified so the sides are a little higher keeping the wood from falling off. The other option is to split in front of the bins where you are stacking. Just let the wood fall off the table as it get pushed from the next round going through- you can get a nice size pile this way and it would eliminate the step of using the dump trailer.
Hello Mr. Brad, see you Friday, but You did not mention the time, or I missed it, The new table is good, looks like it helped you a lot, now to tell you my thoughts, if You sell the wood today you are not hurting your supply, You are supplying your clients in advance, Strike the Iron while it is hot, production cost will prob never be lower than today, IF you look at this like playing the stock market then there may be more money to be made by waiting to sell, but that is a chance You take, I myself look at it, 300 bucks today in my hand is worth more than a 325 dollar maybe tomorrow.
Good morning Ben. The Friday video will be out at 7am also. Hopefully I’ll build enough inventory to take care of my customers next year plus some more. With all the ash logs I have piled up, I’ll be able to split through the summer and still sell that in the fall as well. Learning as I go but you make great points. Thanks for being here as always
Take a sliver of end grain (where you see growth rings). Usually when you fell a tree you end up with a triangle wedge, and the thinnest part is an ideal spot to use. Hold up to a light source. The pores found in the growth rings on red oak are very open and porous. White oak, however, has its pores plugged with tyloses, which help make white oak suitable for water-tight vessels, and give it increased resistance to rot and decay. The presence of tyloses is perhaps the best and most reliable way to distinguish the two oaks.
Now you gotta go find a conveyor of some sort. What that outfeed table just did moving you forward, a conveyor will top it by 1000X that feeling. I literally asked a few friends to keep an eye out for a conveyor and in less than 10 hours I was offered one from an old farmer. They're around, you just gotta ask. I will never do firewood again without it, it makes that much of a difference.
I like to stack right of trailer. You probably do too if you didn't have delivery. When I dump or split next to where I am going to stack I either have too much too close or not enough. Lots easier and faster to just move trailer and don't have to bend over to pick it up.
The outfeed table definitely should make you much more efficient. I actually am expecting a ram splitter delivery this week also. We enjoy your content!
@@FirewoodattheFurnace I wasn't in a position to purchase mine either so I waited... thats when they blew up and went from a 3 month wait to over a year.. when I was ready... keep in mind you don't have to pay for it till it's shipped just a small fee to get on the list..
Hi Rodney, yes the splitter is not easy to move like the county line so I normally bring the wood to the splitter. But the table removes and the hitch slides in. The dump trailer is 7x14
Not sure of the name, but do you have that claw to help pick up rounds. Believe Joe had one in a video a few weeks ago, that would help your back as well. Hope you van work into a live deck like him at some point, all that bending over would do me in. Mark
Maine tags and title are waaaayyy cheaper. Almost all trucking companies tag their trailers in Maine. It’s legal as long as you have at least 1 trailer tagged in Maryland for each power unit. It’s a loop hole in the law that’s a big money saver
@@FirewoodattheFurnace I plan on sticking with an electric splitter due to where I live…. They have a 16 and 22 ton which would be better than what I use…
I would love to hear your thoughts on the Ram splitter. I'm seriously considering this splitter for my home in Jersey and want your honest feedback. Good, bad and the ugly.
Fer a tall guy I think still raising it more would be a big plus. . makin it flush maybe 1/2 inch lower so nothing catches??, , or get longer Pease of tubing and running it the whole length
Table works, safer and quicker. Good deeds will always come back to you.
Hey there! Thanks so much for the comments and for being here. The outfeed table is better than I imagined
I have ran a splitter with no table and I know how happy you are right now with that table on your splitter!
It’s a total game changer!
The table is your need not anyone else's.
The 4 way wedge is a nice splitter for red oak, nice wood yard,
Thank you
Table looks good and will save that back for sure.
Table looks great, I split from feed table into the tractor bucket and put it in the wood shed , it took a few years to get the system I have to work good for me. Like watching all your videos
Thanks so much!
The table looks good and know it be a big help. Have a great day be safe.
