Learnt and sang this song with our youth group in church at a local high school hall in Nz many years ago. Song was taught to us by a beautiful Maori married couple. So grateful and thankful for this beautiful song
Thanks so much for putting this up. I was in Aotearoa when Queen Te Ariki Nui passed away; watched this everyday on Maori TV, and when I left the land of the long white cloud, I couldn't find a copy of it anywhere! I was so sad but here it is! It's beautiful and shows just one of the many beautiful dimensions of Maori; a profoundly complex, proud and God-blessed people. I'm not Maori but sure wish I was! I deeply respect you all.
I learnt the same in the same youth group. It was I Hiona intermediate high school in Columbo Road. It was taught to us by a lovely Māori Couple Sigh and Anne Pakai.
Love the interpretation / production of this song. Maori Magic in full effect. Great blend of modern and traditional elements. Just the right mix of vocals, harmonies, percussion, guitar-work. Massive...
