Every single trailer they show, it just gets me even more excited for Vengeance to release 😭, like I cannot express how expansive it seems compared to vanilla SMT V. From the new characters to the development, demons, music and areas, I'm just beyond happy to experience the game with all the content it deserved. I spent so much time playing through vanilla SMT V, this is going to be an amazing june when Vengeance releases.

@@Hugsloth I put in like 403 hours between all playthroughs, like.. to think we're getting the true story makes me happy, I loved vanilla SMT V so much, the trailers alone for Vengeance really do make vanilla seem so different bruh 😭

Even though SMTV vanilla is imperfect it's still in my top 10 games of all time.
So this might end up my number 1. So damn excited.
mine too, some of the most perfect gameplay we have gotten from an smt game. unique and interesting lore ideas, some cool characters and story beats. but it was just missing something, a few things. thats why im so excited for this cuz it looks like it might give me that.
SMT 3 Nocturne is still my number 1, but vanilla 5 was very enjoyable too. This might contend for that number 1 spot.
Hopefully they also added/changed some things to the vanilla story instead of just adding this second one.

What we got MAY have been a beta, but it was also the best version they were capable of producing.
I know it's a rumor that the reason for the story was because of demon but that just doesn't really make sense to me. Especially considering just how much of the game's model work was outsourced, and how many models are perked up versions of the ones from p5.

@@sociallyawkard5675 Pedantry at best, outright BS at worst. Atlus has been reusing the same model bases and animation rigging since they began porting Kaneko's art to 3D during the seventh console generation. The assets made for NINE (or rather, its prototype which eventually split off into IMAGINE) and Nocturne were eventually reused and tweaked at best for DDS, Raidou, and Persona 3 and 4. P5 for the most part was taking those old assets and bringing them to contemporary fidelity standards, and those were then reused for other projects like this one. They did the same thing with sprites during the SNES era. It's been their operating procedure forever.
Any claim that P5 and Dx2 (hence "outsourced" but Sega owns Atlus anyway so they're really just giving them support) don't share any models with SMTV is obviously false at face value. They do touch-ups between the games to fit with each one's style and optimization, but Metatron's polygon count is identical between P5 and SMTV. There are original demons in each game, but besides those, most of them are reused in some capacity. Anyone who thinks Atlus isn't _wisely_ recycling their assets is delusional.
What SMTV brought to the table was more animations to account for overworld demons and certain special animations, but any demon SMTV shares with P5 is basically the same asset.
@sociallyawkard5675 that's fair. I still don't really buy that the modeling was the issue though. With how game teams are usually structured it wouldn't make a lot of sense for everything to be held back because of modeling. Especially when a lot of smtvs larger problems come from its overall design.
In SMT 1, Lilith poses as the false Heroine, Yuriko. It would be a fitting callback if Yoko, our first *Chaos* Heroine, is the Knowledge of Lilith, the leader of the new villain group.

I'm calling it now that new girl introduced she's the fourth demon chick and/or she might be related to the MC somehow since they seem to share resemblance mainly in the eyes
She seems to be related to Lilith in some form. There's a track on the OST literally called "Yoko and Lilith" and ofc there's all the dialogue from Lilith egging her on.
She might be Lilith's knowledge for all we know

Also interesting to note that Dazai seems to be leaning more into his superficial Zayin knockoff role by getting petrified, bonus points if during that time he gets "lectured" by lack of a better word by Lucifer or even Satan since he might be present this time. ik he did get touched upon by Lucifer himself in base V post the summit meeting but still, different story who knows what'll happen or how stuff needs to be structured. Main reason I bring that last point up as a bonus is that SMT2's visionary items seem to imply Zayin was touched upon by Lucifer when he was also frozen which is the reason why he decides to overthrow YHVH in 2.

The original was great but flawed, it seems they took criticism to heart on this one and I'm just DYING to play it, please do not sleep on this, it's hardcore Pokemon with demons, angels gods and myths.
Yeah, I loved the combat and gameplay, but the lack of interesting story in the original was quite disappointing for a SMT game.

Im genuinely so pissed at this. I waited so long for a Port to Pc for SMTV. And i figured it would never come, so i gave in and played it on Switch a few months ago. And now this exists. Im aware Atlus has a habit of releasing the same game in better a few years later, but i never expected it with SMTV....

As an OG SMTV player, the thing that V really needed was more time to cook for the story (and performance but Nintendo Switch), and Vengeance just proves it.

You say Switch killed performance (which it kinda did, but whatever), yet this game is still gonna be on a switch too. PS4/5/PC versions will be better experience for sure, but how much better (or worse) this new version on switch would be, compared to original?

would I need to play the base shin megami tensei 5 game first to play this game or could I just jump into this one or is this like vanilla persona 5 compared to royal which in this case is vengence.
ideally at this point since you haven't played it wait for VV, esp if its on a different platform other than switch. Only reason for people to beat OG V at this point is if they're getting the switch version again and have the potential to use save data transfer.
This game includes the original story, this new plot branches off very early in the game. So you might as well just wait for this one imo.
@@ils4844 From what they reveleaded so far there won't be a proper save data transfer. You can only take 3 demons with you and get some items depending on which ending you got. So you'd need to finish SMTV first and I highly doubt the items will be even worth it. It seems more like a small gimmick for those who already finished SMTV but nothing worth grinding for now.
I second this. Better wait for Vengeance at this point. It's similar to the P5 vs. P5R situation, maybe even more expansive from what they said so far.
@@ils4844transferring only 2 - 3 demons from your old save file with some items if you get VV on switch was me enough to purchase this game on my ps5. ill just work all over again on a better system. If the saved data transfer was EVERYTHING in full (still don’t know why it wasn’t) it would be a blindfold purchase on switch just for the data alone.
@@HolyDoomfish Three demons is three demons tho, and the extra goodie items are generally a nice touch. It's just fun to have them. Then again hard to say what worthwhile stuff atlus could add since all the transfer goodies from IVA and DDSAT1 to 2 were mostly more equips.
