  • Australian White Ibises (Threskiornis molucca) are commonly found in urban areas in Australia. They are commonly called ‘Bin Chickens’ because they scavenge for food in rubbish bins and elsewhere. This non-breeding adult Ibis regularly visits my backyard, hoping for food scraps and probing the lawn with its long bill, hunting for worms, beetle larvae and other prey. The Ibis perched on a fence, gazing at me with its baleful eye.
