cheers for the review. I was thinking of purchasing this board but i am not sure if it will keep VRMs cool enough for a 7900 non x with PBO enabled or enough power. The singular 8pin CPU socket is throwing me off because motherboards are not my strong point. Any words of advice? much appreciated 🫡
this is scary, just last night i made a system with this mobo, 7700x and 64gb ram and somehow youtube knew and recommended me this video on my homepage. haven't ordered yet but some questions if i may: 1- will this mobo work straight out of the box for a 7700x without updating bios? what version of bios does it come with 2- 02:17 never had or liked argb, does this turn on automatically when connecting the motheboard cable? i don't want any argb 3- 07:51 pcie gen 5x4 this is on the cpu and the 4x4 with the 4x2 on the mobo chipset. i looked at manual and it says the speeds are 5x4-128gb/s, 4x4-64gb/s and 4x2-32gb/s and if i get a 4000mb/s nvme in the 4x2 it will still run at max speed according to my math? (conversion is 4000mb/s=32gb/s) 4- the usb ports i don't get at 07:0107:19 if i connect either of those is that ok for 2x 3.0 usb ports on front panel? same for the front usb 2.0 there are also 2 at front of my case, i have to connect both those on the motherboard at 09:30?
works out of the box with 7700x argb can be disabled in bios drive speeds should be okay, like you calculated, i will test this at some point you can have 2 lots of usb 3 ports 4 in total plus whatever usb 2 ports you have and a type c if you want
Do you think it's OK to downgrade from this to the previously reviewed MSI Pro B650M-P. Gonna be rocking 7500F and I would save around 26 pounds. Also, how would u say the 2 mobos compare?
Hi, good review. Bought this board yesterday, and it's giving me some weird static/coil whine like noises near the top left corner. Eliminated all posibilities, it's 100 percent the motherboard. Just wondering if this is something that is considered normal, because I want to RMA it. I had an Asus ROG Z370-G Gaming before this, and these sounds were unheard of, so it's quite annoying to hear them now
Hi Mike, Before I buy the ASRock B650M Pro RS Wi-Fi, I’d like to ask you if the board is better than the MSI Pro B650M-A Wi-Fi board. Both have diagnostic LEDs, however the MSI board has one less 3.2 header. The MSI board matches the aesthetics of my case (black) and is readily available on Amazon unlike the ASRock so I’m not sure which to pick, I’m completely stuck. I’d like to hear your thoughts on this!
they both have pros and cons, personally i would go with MSI as i much prefer the fan and rgb control software, but the MSI has a lower PCIe GPU slot which can be a problem in some MATX cases with the GPU getting choked off.
Silly question does the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB non neo work on this mb / other am5 boards thanks I’ve always watched your mb reviews keep up the good work mate ps I’m looking at the asrock lightning atx as my case is atx I’m not sure about how the pc will like with matx😮
It should, but it is a good idea to check the HCL and see if the specific part number is listed otherwise as long as it is EXPO rated you should be okay with just 2 sticks, 4 sticks all bets are off
In my region, the WiFi version of this Mobo costs extra the same amount as if I bought the Intel AC 9260 card separately. Is it worth the hassle? Can I find the exact model of Wifi PCIE card they use in the WiFi version they offer?

Hey I just built my 1st pc with the none Wi-Fi version one question about what you said about the m.2 slots. With the gen5x4 does it needs to be exactly that or just has to be any gen5 m.2?
this should be fine. when it comes to coolers, you need to consider that these chips try and hit 90+ by design and that is unusual for us PC builders, so a big large cooler is needed to combat the temp spikes if you want a quiet PC. I would suggest a 240mm aio as a minimum
So the non-wifi version just can't use wifi? Or it comes without the m.2 card? Where I live an m.2 wifi card is well over 20 euros, not sure what the point of the non-wifi version is
Is it possible to install a graphics card in the primary slot and a M.2 ssd in the primary 5.0 m.2 slot?? I mean wouldn't the graphics card face a hindrance with respect to space?
@@mikesunboxing I noticed that the included heatsink is a little taller than usual. Have you encountered any issues when it comes to bigger cards such as a 6750XT? Thanks for the video!

Though I will need one as Im building for the game Im playing coming soon with a graphical update so I'll probably just buy it.
Hey im building using this board with a Ryzen 7 9700X and a 7900 XTX with a 850w psu is this fine? I think i might have to update the bios, or can the board support this chip out of the box?
They have the same vrm. Some people actually consider it an advantage to have 2 instead of 4 memory slots. They have different USB port specs to front and rear. The B650M-HDV/M.2 has an extra pcie slot but one less m.2 slot however you could always add use a cheap pcie to m.2 card if you need another m.2.
@@eileenk568 thanks man, I've already bought the HDV. What's the advantage of 2 slots instead of 4? I mean we could use only 2 sticks with the 4 slots too right?

Should i buy it if im planning to use a rtx 4060, AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8Ghz. 2x 16 gigs of ddr5 ram and ill prob add a watercooler too?
yeah good choice for that setup
This mobo is my new rig, but only 650 pro rs no wifi version. What can i say it require update to latest bios version. Then it will work flawlessly. Good overclocking ability. EXPO running great with pair of hynix kingston.
still the best budget B650m, even cheaper now, Idk why people keep buying expensive motherboard when they never use most of its features
I can't decide if I want this board or spend more to get PCIE Gen5 better VRMs for future upgrades, and the post code. Can you overclock with this board? I'm leaning towards this board so I can save some money. The two boards i'm eyeing are this at $135 and the Taichi lite for $270. I bought a 7500f for $160 otd so maybe I should just go with the cheaper board for a budget build?
get this, the 7500f on either board will perform about the same, save the money
@@mikesunboxing Thank you man, you saved me from a headache. 👍 Going to build my PC next week after the rest of my parts get here. Wish me luck, since the last time I built a PC was 13 years ago but i'm sure it's easier now than it was then. I wonder how much a difference the 7500f will be from my i5 3570k?

@@mikesunboxing Ok I just finished building the PC and installing windows 11. I just have one question to ask here, should I install the Asrock Auto Driver Installer? The prompt showed up after I connected my PC to the internet.
Superb content. I am building a AM5 system but this mobo isn't available here. Would you kindly look at the MSI B650 S Wifi too? I swear I haven't seen any review about that anywhere on RUclips and neither for the B650 Gaming Plus.
the b650 gaming plus is coming up soon
1st time builder, had a question.
Are the Lian Li SL120 5 pack w/ controller compatible w/ this board? If yes, can I replace the fans that came w/ my case (Asus AP201) w/ the Lian Li fans or is that not recommended.
If not compatible, I'd appreciate if you can provide another board that will work.

I purchased this board a year ago after seeing this review, I now have a 9800X3D and 7900xtx. Hoping for a 5080 in the near future. Is this board suitable for the components I have assembled or should I go for a higher end motherboard
should be fine
cheers for the review. I was thinking of purchasing this board but i am not sure if it will keep VRMs cool enough for a 7900 non x with PBO enabled or enough power. The singular 8pin CPU socket is throwing me off because motherboards are not my strong point. Any words of advice? much appreciated 🫡
I think you will be fine with that
this is scary, just last night i made a system with this mobo, 7700x and 64gb ram and somehow youtube knew and recommended me this video on my homepage. haven't ordered yet but some questions if i may:
1- will this mobo work straight out of the box for a 7700x without updating bios? what version of bios does it come with
2- 02:17 never had or liked argb, does this turn on automatically when connecting the motheboard cable? i don't want any argb
3- 07:51 pcie gen 5x4 this is on the cpu and the 4x4 with the 4x2 on the mobo chipset. i looked at manual and it says the speeds are 5x4-128gb/s, 4x4-64gb/s and 4x2-32gb/s and if i get a 4000mb/s nvme in the 4x2 it will still run at max speed according to my math? (conversion is 4000mb/s=32gb/s)
4- the usb ports i don't get at 07:01 07:19 if i connect either of those is that ok for 2x 3.0 usb ports on front panel? same for the front usb 2.0 there are also 2 at front of my case, i have to connect both those on the motherboard at 09:30?
works out of the box with 7700x
argb can be disabled in bios
drive speeds should be okay, like you calculated, i will test this at some point
you can have 2 lots of usb 3 ports 4 in total plus whatever usb 2 ports you have and a type c if you want
Which NVME did you get for the 4x2?
Bought the B760M. Hope it lasts...
Does it also have LEDs to troubleshoot problems?
Not sure sorry not used that one yet
@@mikesunboxing Is that what the EZ Troubleshooter or ASRock Post Status Checker are? Both models have it.
Do you think it's OK to downgrade from this to the previously reviewed MSI Pro B650M-P. Gonna be rocking 7500F and I would save around 26 pounds. Also, how would u say the 2 mobos compare?
the asrock is much better overall, much more features and ports, but like you said you save £26
Hi, good review. Bought this board yesterday, and it's giving me some weird static/coil whine like noises near the top left corner. Eliminated all posibilities, it's 100 percent the motherboard. Just wondering if this is something that is considered normal, because I want to RMA it. I had an Asus ROG Z370-G Gaming before this, and these sounds were unheard of, so it's quite annoying to hear them now
my ASUS Tuf has a very faint whine
Hi Mike,
Before I buy the ASRock B650M Pro RS Wi-Fi, I’d like to ask you if the board is better than the MSI Pro B650M-A Wi-Fi board.
Can I find the exact model of Wifi PCIE card they use in the WiFi version they offer?
up to you really. using a PCie slot for a card could interfere with the GPU so it depends really
@@mikesunboxingI have a Palit RTX 3070, on a MSI Z170A mobo and seems to have enough space. Is GPU obstruction a problem that often occurs?
I’m considering this Mobo or the MSI MAG b650M Mortar WiFi, but the MSI one is quite a bit more expensive.
Which would you recommend? (At the moment I don’t have an option for cabled connection)
This board has everything I need. I just wish that it was blacked out. It stands out, all of the other parts in my build are black.
yeah that is modern design for you
Is this good to use with a R7 7800X3D and a rx 7800xt (will it affect the performance in any way)? Motherboards is unfortunately where my knowledge lacks
should be fine
Does the wifi version of this board have coil whine as a common issue? It seems like a common issue for this board according to newegg reviews.
i wasn't aware of it sorry, and didn't notice any in my testing
This has more features than my atx am4 board hahahaha this will be good for my am5 build
it is a nice board i like it
Would you get this or an other Mobo for a MATX build? Trying to find a good one but the selections in Sweden is very limited and people seem to be complaining a bunch about some of them?
this is my first choice for MATX AM5 builds
@@mikesunboxingis it worth to pay a bit extra from the b650m hdv m.2 to pro rs?
Hey I just built my 1st pc with the none Wi-Fi version one question about what you said about the m.2 slots. With the gen5x4 does it needs to be exactly that or just has to be any gen5 m.2?
you can use any PCIe NVME drives, up to that speed, for value for money right now a PCie Gen3 X4 drive would be a good choice
@@mikesunboxing thank you
the listing on Amazon says this motherboard platform is PlayStation 5 , what does this mean exactly (ASRock b650-h/m.2)
that is one messed up amazon listing
would this board be suitable with a 7800x3d as this specific chip has very less power draw? and what cooler would you pair it with at minimum
this should be fine. when it comes to coolers, you need to consider that these chips try and hit 90+ by design and that is unusual for us PC builders, so a big large cooler is needed to combat the temp spikes if you want a quiet PC. I would suggest a 240mm aio as a minimum

sorry i don't have the board here any more or i would do that for you
I cant find a good tutorial how to install the drivers of this motherboard
use the asrock auto installer, that works well.
So the non-wifi version just can't use wifi? Or it comes without the m.2 card? Where I live an m.2 wifi card is well over 20 euros, not sure what the point of the non-wifi version is
The non WiFi version doesn’t have the WiFi card installed and is usually about £20 cheaper here
@@mikesunboxing Yeah its similar here- I think I just forgot people use physical ethernet connections, I've been using a laptop so long lol
Is it possible to install a graphics card in the primary slot and a M.2 ssd in the primary 5.0 m.2 slot?? I mean wouldn't the graphics card face a hindrance with respect to space?

yes this will overclock ok and EXPO or XMP is fine, temps are well under control in a good airflow case
A lot of people recommended me a MSI board but I don't really trust with the reviews as this board has more positive things at least I can see. As a beginner I hope it works out with my build I will go with a r5 7500f if I decide to buy it or a r5 7600 cpu.
Also this board with wifi cost about $149 USD plus with tax making it a bit more expesnive than I want for around 160 instead. Maybe if I wait a bit I can get it at a lower price. Hey im building using this board with a Ryzen 7 9700X and a 7900 XTX with a 850w psu is this fine? I think i might have to update the bios, or can the board support this chip out of the box?

Other than 4 slots for ram & argb support, are there any other difference from the Asrock B650M-HDV/M.2? Thanks!
slightly better power delivery and PCIe slot placement
@@mikesunboxing better power delivery even though they both use the same 8+2+1 phase (on paper)?
They have the same vrm. Some people actually consider it an advantage to have 2 instead of 4 memory slots. They have different USB port specs to front and rear. The B650M-HDV/M.2 has an extra pcie slot but one less m.2 slot however you could always add use a cheap pcie to m.2 card if you need another m.2.
@@eileenk568 thanks man, I've already bought the HDV. What's the advantage of 2 slots instead of 4? I mean we could use only 2 sticks with the 4 slots too right?
