I worked as a Harley-Davidson service advisor for almost 17 years. I can tell you from experience that most techs will install the axle from the left side every time. It prevents having to move or remove the exhaust to service anything in the rear.
It appears there's no clearance between the right saddlebag and upper exhaust pipe to pull the axle out for next time you change tires. So if you kept the axle at factory standard, you'd have to remove that right bag or the top pipe to change the tire. If you have true dual pipes like I did on my 2016 FLSTC, the direction doesn't matter because either way the axle faces, you'll have to dismount a bag. They're saving your mechanic time and YOU a little extra cash from time worth of labor. Ride safe, brothers!
I have Vance and Hines Longshots on my 2016 Heritage so I'd either have to take the exhaust off now and swap the axel or just wait until I needed a new tire🤷♂️
States at the beginning of the video that the turn signals on an FLSTC need to be removed but then installs them on an FLSTC without removing the turn signals.
Nice how they tell you to sandwich the lower support between the cross over and the upper support but dude in the video clearly has it on the back!! LOL
Well I'm doing a 2016 FLSTN now. Why does the instructions say it won't work with the current tail lights? I'm not changing my taillights. Explain please.
Also, do you know if this will work with my trailer hitch? It's made of 1/4" flat bar that attach's to the side of the fender where the new brackets go.
yes, it fits perfectly with no modifications. No other one can make them like ours as we invented it with the rear brace. I makes the bags stable. Thank you, Randy 619-295-7800 to order
@@randyaron1 thank you Randy, can you quote in Canadian money to be delivered in Gatineau, Québec? I know that chops around sell it to like Dream Cycle. Also do you sell FL Saddlebags to go with that? Good day!
@@randyaron1 Is there something different about your saddlebag mounts compared with other brands? Other companies say these bags won't fit a heritage like in this video without changing out the turn signal bar.
They should since you can mount hard bags to a road kind if it fits Harley hard bags it should fit road king bags. I’m fixing to try to this out myself soon for road king bags if you haven’t already done it I will update
Except the cheap brackets do not have a bridge. The top mounts crack and break off due to vibration over time, without the bridge. If this happens while riding it can be very hazardous, the bag will fall down into the turning wheel. I know, it happened to me. never do the $40 copies.
Softail is garbage, that rear suspention is garbage. Buy a real bike and even then you need to buy some Legend shocks or some other quality shocks in the right length to get full travel.

Now that ladies and gentlemen is how you put together a “how to video”! 👏👏👏👏
Very informative and done nicely. Thank you
This is on my "to do" list. Thanks for the informative video!
What's the part numbers to this conversion? And will it fit 2014 heritage?
trying to figure out why the axel needed to be swapped sides?
So next time they have to take off the rim they don't have to take off the exhaust pipe
The axle sometimes makes contact with the saddlebag n can damage it.. or even cause it to come off the bottom support

My next project on my heritage

Was literally thinking the same thing and wondering if HD bags will work with the OEM heritage lights or just certain ones…
what bags did you use
Hi, will that center bracket work with a stretched rear fender ?
What brand of hard bags will fit these?
how does this kit work with detachable sissy bar and mount kit????
Nice how they tell you to sandwich the lower support between the cross over and the upper support but dude in the video clearly has it on the back!! LOL
Does this work on 2005 softail deluxe flstn?
How can I purchase mountain kit from y'all
Can you use harley's quick release system for sissy bars with this? If so how would you do it?
Good question any answer?
@@mrjoeyp81 you can. The Harley quick detach system goes on the inside 2 bolts on the strut, saddlebag system attached to the outside 2.
What if you want to keep your detachable backrest and tour pac?

Lynn Michel it will work with your taillights

Send me a pic of the back of your bike.

spanky54544 I don’t know if it will work. Your local fab shop can make it happen. Where are you located?
Can they work on a 06 low rider hd
Where do you get the hardware please.
Does everything fit exactly as shown on FLSTN 2011?

Did i miss the point of switching the axel?
To the other side *
Will these work with the older leather road king bags

Does a 14+ bag fit on this kit?
Yes they will
And this kit only costs you about 350 bucks more thsn the generic kit which i think is every bit as good

When I did mine i had to change my taillights on a 2000 heritage

so by your logic, every bike is garbage and you still have to do the same thing to get full travel.
What kind of bags were added to the bike?
