Thanks for this video! A large volume water change will have you running around with 5 gallon buckets for hours. This is easier, less complicated and reduces drops of water on your floor. This is an elegant solution to large volume water changes.
hey ive just set up my fish room in my shed, ive got 8 4ft tanks, do i use cold or hot water to do the water change your way with a hose, i stock tropical fish, need advice on how i could make water changes easier, rather than filling loads of buckets at the right temperature
ruclips.net/video/mdtpTkzQgfA/видео.html probably figured it out by now but should check out this guys fish room for advice on changing out large volumes
You shouldn't use hot water from your tap in the first place although it may work for you for most it is a no no. It contains contaminants that are not present in cold water. i heat up water and although this takes oxygen out of the water once i mix it in with my tap water it represents 20 of the overall volume which in my case using 15L buckets IS 1.5 L. Plus if you leave the water you take from the tap within 24 hours it would have removed most of the chlorine if not all of it.
This 8dea may work for an average goldfish tank, but if you have decent fish or are an aquarium enthusiast, you know this won't work correctly for most tanks and even those that it does work for, you risk the health and safety of your fish.
Over complicated for no good reason. Just connect a simple hose to a small aquarium pump and put it in the aquarium and run the other end to the drain. Once you have got enough water out just connect the hose to the tap and run to the aquarium, will save you all the crap with switching valves on and off. Dude you walked like a marathon in this video.

Wow! So quick and easy and it only cost you $300 to make.
Lol
I probably should have made one of these 26 years ago. That's a lot of trips to and from the tank and toilet I could have saved.
Does it come with a manual?
Bit of a hassle, but pretty cool and awesome 👌
Awesome, where did you get the valves? I haven't seen any like those before. They look like they are good quality.
too much fucking around, I syphon mine stair out the window, treat and refill with the tap

That’s awesome!
You can shorten your PVC so that it will stop at 5gallons every time without keeping a eye on it.
That is a great improvement
nice man

How?
i know this is a few years old but how is this different from using a python and a spring clamp...?
It's a similar principal except I'm only priming a siphon rather than using the python to continuously draw the water
Awesome
Nice

ya, well, your about 1/2 way there... but you never accounted for temperature and mixing 90% tank water with chlorine remover is kinda pointless..
This is your typical engineers way of over complicating a simple process
To smart for me.
Good water going to waste, obvious you don't have a garden, except in your tank.
Garden Spider no he means that instead of throwing away the old water you can instead use it on your house plants or lawn
