    Our vaginal discharge is also another indicator of when we are ovulating! Thin, clear, stretchy (similar to egg whites) vaginal discharge is a sign of being fertile

      Ovulation kits didn’t work for us but tracking discharge did. Pregnant on first try after ditching the kits, which just really stressed me out. Doc also told us to just have sex every other day starting day 6 until day 16 and we’d likely hit the window.

    Even if your cycle is pretty regular (mine is usually 26 or 29 days), time of ovulation can vary from month to month. If you’re charting to avoid or achieve pregnancy, it’s really important to track bio markers such as cervical mucus, basal body temp, etc. I track cervical mucus and use LH strips. But for some reason OBs don’t teach these things 🤔

    Everyone Please remember: This is good for general information, so people gain an understanding of how the body works. However, if you are trying to avoid or achieve pregnancy, you MUST use addition methods to gather information. This is because you won't know the length of a cycle UNTIL IT HAS ALREADY PASSED. This is why the old Rhythm Method often resulted in unexpected pregnancy. Use an ovulation predictor kit, which can measure the hormones in your urine in real time. Or use the sypmto-thermal method. Or any other way of determining your actual and present fertility. I just would hate for someone to rely on only this for either birth control and end up pregnant. Or for someone who is trying to get pregnant, wasting their efforts.

      I came here to write a similar comment. This was a very simplified explanation, almost as if she's talking to a 12-year-old who has just had her period for the first time, rather than full grown women who are having intercourse and either trying to get pregnant or avoid getting pregnant. It's fine for what it is, but I do think that perhaps she should have had some sort of PSA regarding not relying on ovulation predictor kits, basic cycle tracking such as this, or even natural planning methods if they absolutely shouldn't be getting pregnant.
      You never know who is watching these videos either and a teenager could easily misinterpret this information and think that they can have sex any other day without protection as long as they don't have sex on the 14th day.

    Very simple way to explain cycle tracking!
    For those who want to use this for pregnancy research Natural Family Planning and consider tracking your basal temperature to nail down the exact days you ovulate. The more data you have, i.e. periods you track, the easier it is to predict your fertility. You might notice that stressful weeks or months with excessive caffeine use delay your period, or that you run on a 45 day cycle, just take notes!
    Cycle tracking is also useful for exercising, nutritional goals, and figuring out what weeks your able to make the clearest decisions. It can be used for all sorts of stuff!! Happy tracking! 👋

    The Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) is also a great tool to track your cycle/ovulation so you'll know exactly when you are ovulating. Toni Weschler has a very thorough book on the topic. The three primary fertility signs she covers are cervical fluid, waking temperature and cervical position. Her book is wonderful and if you are considering FAM definitely a vital tool.

  • @chiaradaniels
    @chiaradaniels 10 месяцев назад +20

    Your cycle length is dependent on when you ovulate. Subtracting days and stuff will not give you your ovulation date. Most people do not have a luteal phase (the phase after ovulation before your period) of 14 days. Anywhere from 12 to 16 is normal. So instead, track your cervical mucus and temperature, get yourself a basal body thermometer, take your temp every morning at the same time before getting out of bed. When you are ovulating, you will notice egg white consistency mucus and the day after ovulation a shift in your temperature. Now you just have to wait until your period shows up, count the days from ovulation and you have the length of your luteal phase. This does not change, maybe once or twice a year by a day. But the follicular phase (the phase before ovulation) can change constantly, it's not set in stone. So if you want to know when your period shows up, you will need to track ovulation and count your luteal phase. Counting days on a calendar will not be accurate, only for a small amount of women.

      This I true, but this likely isn't intending to find the exact date. You're fertile for a week even though the egg only lives about a day bc sperm survives several days in the fallopian tubes. So it's accurate enough for its purpose.

    Also, egg white type discharge is present. My luteal phase is SO short. About 2 days. Which makes it easy to get pregnant during your period like I did 😅. Well, technically the sperm stays alive in there until the next egg drops but still. And you’re more likely to have a girl if you have sex while on your period because the female sperms tend to live longer so they can hang out longer and wait for the egg. Our bodies are fascinating!

    • @SL-gz3dy
      @SL-gz3dy 9 месяцев назад +1

      That is not really how it works though... do you use ovulation tests or take your temperature? With a luteal phase of 2 days you would be infurtile...
      in the first part of your cycle (starts on the first day of your period) your egg starts to mature and get ready for ovulation. Then you ovulate and your progesteron levels go up (makig your temperature go up, that's how you knlw ovulation happens with taking your temperature every day). In this phase a furtilised egg starts cel devision and your uterus lining gets thicker for implantation. This takes about 5 days. Then the egg starts to implant, usually it is ready around day 9. Only when this happens your body starts to release pregnancy hormones so you would not get your period and the pregnancy can grow. If no egg was furtilised or implanted your hormones change, progesteron gets lower and you get your period so the cycle can start again. As you see, with a luteale phase of 2 days, a furtulised egg would not have the time to implant and would die while you have your period.
      I think you have an early ovulation. In that case you can get pregnant from s3x during your period as sperm can stay alive for up to 5 days in the womans body. But this has nothing to do with your luteal phase. I think it must be longer than you think. Also if your luteale phase is only 2 days and you get pregnant on your period, that would mean your cycle is at most 12 days long and that would also make you infurtile...

    Not a safe way to contraception though. If you want to find out your fertile days to use that information for contraception or getting pregnant you'll have to track your cycle by measuring basal temperature and discharge/cervix. You'd have to do that for about 12 cycles and know what and how to do that in order to be safe. What's descirbed in the video is the calendar method which is not safe contraception. You'll need the symptothermal method in order to use the data reasonably.

      Often the luteal phase,.might not be the same as 14days. But if it is the same length then when you ovulate (based on LH spike and then temp rise) you will know period is in X days. Might take a few months to see how lomg luteal phase is first. Luteal phase = ovulation day to day period starts.

    • @wa11ie
      @wa11ie 10 месяцев назад +2

      if you’re on the pill, you don’t ovulate. what you experience when you’re on the pill is a cycle of taking hormones that essentially makes your body think it’s pregnant. so in order to support a pregnancy it builds up tissue. when you get into that week where you’re taking the placebo your body realizes that it’s not actually pregnant so it cleans out that built up tissue and the cycle continues. however if you’re not on any form of hormonal birth control, a regular menstrual cycle starts with the period, usually 5-7 days, this may vary depending on your body, then at some point, usually during the middle of your cycle, you ovulate, which is when a mature egg hops on over to make its way down to the uterus, which is building up tissue to support a potential pregnancy. the egg stays in the uterus for a couple of days and when there’s no sperm there to make a child, everything is cleaned out, which takes the form of the period blood and the cycle starts again.
      now, if your natural cycle without artificial hormonal interference is irregular this can mean a couple of things. if you just got your period it’s very normal for it to skip a couple of cycles as your body is still getting in tune with the whole menstrual cycle thing. similarly, people reaching menopause may go months without a menstrual cycle. if you‘ve had a cycle for a couple of years and are far away from the age of 50, go and talk to your gynecologist about it. there’s a plethora of reasons why your body isn’t working the normal way. it could be hormonal, it could be ovarian cysts, it could be other things. the fix all solution to any uterus related issue is often hormonal birth control but i highly reccomend doing your research on it before you take it. there’s a long list of side effects ranging from depression, going as far as suicidality, increased risk of trombosis, in the long term it could make it harder to get pregnant when you do go off it in order to concieve a child, it can lead to thyroid issues and much more. these are all things to keep in mind when weighing the benefits. especially if you have family history with thyroid issues or depression or really any of these things. a lot of doctors will just hand you a prescription for the pill without discussing side effects so i think it’s important to be aware and do your own research, especially if it’s something you’re putting into your body on a daily basis for years on end that significantly interjects into your hormonal cycle.
      hope this helps, i know it’s a very long reply but our bodies are complex.

    Sorry no offense intended but this is very misleading information. It would be better if you took this video down and changed it to include current knowledge/research. This kind of incorrect information could result in unwanted pregnancy for those watching who believe they are 'safely' outside the fertile window before, during and after ovulation. It could also prevent pregnancy and cause distress for those who believe they are repeatedly trying to conceive in the fertile window. Most people do not ovulate 14 days before their period. Some do but not enough that anyone should assume they do. I, like many women ovulate on days 7, 8, 9 or 10. My periods are always 27, 28, 29 or 30 days long. There are also many women who ovulate late in their cycle and they have periods anywhere from soon. What is now established in studies is that there is broad range. There are also all the conditions that result in a wide range of time spans for ovulation as well as between ovulation and menstruation. There are also the people who don't ovulate but still bleed. Your part 1 video is also incorrect. The video wants to teach people how to record a cycle but it doesn't. It shows a 27 day cycle but incorrectly states it's a 28 day cycle.

    Ok so correct me if im wrong and it may sound dumb but since the fertile window is a few days in between cycles, your "safe" day are a few days before or after your period right? 🤔 meaning days we can go unprotected 😅
    I can't remember if i heard this from somewhere but i was using this "natural method" for a few years with my husband. (I wasn't on any birth control)
    The app was also letting me know about my fertile window so we used protection those days. Method has been well for us until this year 🧐
    Idk if I screwed up or what but i ended up pregnant 😅 i had missed my period in april. But then got some spotting in may (i thought oh wow my period came super late) but then i got the symptoms and behold!!! Baby! So yeah it was complicated keeping tract.

      This video is incorrect. Please don't use the info it contains. As you've discovered already pregnancy can occur across a broad range of the cycle. There are days when it might be less likely but these are extremely hard to truly predict. No day is a safe day unless you are one of the exceptionally rare people who ovulate on basically the same day each time. For most people their ovulation days fluctuate every month and can also always suddenly go quite far out from your personal 'normal range of dates'. This can happen due to stress, exercise, hormones and plenty of other reasons. People get pregnant on their period, just before it, just after it and anywhere in between. I'm very worried that young people who have no one else to ask might find videos like this. 20 years ago I remember my biology teacher training us for our exams and teaching us that women ovulate 14 days before their period. That was already proved to be wrong then!!

    • @wa11ie
      @wa11ie 10 месяцев назад

      if i‘m correct it’s the days right before ovulation because sperm stays in the body for a couple of days. ovulation is the last or second to last day (probably also depends greatly on your body tho)

    I know about BBT, OVARIAN RESERVE, ETC. My question is how do I check if I can even ovulate or have kids at all if the doctor thinks it's not even worth it? Granted, I told her I don't want kids but I still want to know about my ovarian health. How do I check?? I have PCOS.no ovulation and no period.

    It’s impossible for me to ever track my period. After I got vaccinated in 2021 I’ve been getting a period that lasts for 10 days and comes every 10 days. By the time I’m done wearing a pad on one period another one has already given me its warning of coming. Many doctors. Blood work. Ultrasounds. Nothing can be found as to what happened. Much heavier bleeding too. However right before my period ends I do feel the egg being released. Like the cramps that indicate it’s coming again in 10 days. The only thing the doctors came to the conclusion of was that my body releases two eggs at the same time with every period. It’s horrible and I really don’t wish this medical mystery on anyone. They’re impossible to track! I just know it’s coming in the couple of days if I’m randomly crying over absolutely nothing! 😭🤣🤣

      you could look into taking basal temperature. basically you need a thermometer and your cycle calendar and every morning you take your temperature in the same spot, you would have to google what those are because they’re not at the top of my head and you can’t just measure it anywhere but essentially that temperature changes by a not insignificant amount after ovulation. highly reccomend giving it a google search to see if that could be for you

    Is it possible to get an LH surge in the ovulation stick and still not really Ovulate.? Because I have been tracking my ovulation since 3 months now, its always 14th or 15th day after my period,I have a 28 day cycle, I get the LH surge, basal body temperature is high, the usual symptoms are all there, Yet not getting pregnant.

    • @craftypenpalmoma
      @craftypenpalmoma 10 месяцев назад +1

      It is possible to not ovulate every surge, but if your using BBT to confirm ovulation, then something else is wrong. If your temp confirms ovulation, then your ovulating. You might want to discuss this with your dr.

    Hey guys. Not trying to sound stupid but in the video it was mention ovulation days and fertile days. What is the difference. Like what days would be fertile and in ovulation is it your least chance to get pregnant? 😅

    • @sherring2623
      @sherring2623 6 месяцев назад

      Fertile days can happen around your ovulation day. That what people are referring to as the "ovulation window." In this window, your cervical fluid changes and helps preserve sperm for a couple days. So, for example, you could have sex one day and then the sperm from that day actually fertilize an egg a few days later.

    • @jclyntoledo

      You aren't supposed to ovulate with an IUD but not sure about the copper one. Usually if you aren't having a period and you're on hormonal BC it's fine since you shouldn't be ovulating anyway.
