    I love your site a lot, but I've made more than plain jane KDP covers using Canva. I guess it helps that I have Photoshop experience already? I notice that Canva has a few of the shortcuts that Photoshop uses. It's not super good with layers or keeping them separate, but i use it more for text-based graphics now. Photoshop (as much as I love it) is too expensive for me now..

    Q: Time management video - can you make one. I see as you explain here something is missing (too many options) a video of creating a work system. But as I said before in one of your videos when people are not getting paid or waiting for a sale which could take place in an hour, a few days and then of course- getting paid 90days later and making a pittance. Make a video (How to Scale Up!) When it can take a long time to make money in this game- making a product will get easier and easier and easier- but in the mean time (its like swimming) everyone is floundering in the water- making mistakes- some even want to give the kids cookies and candy for dinner just to keep Ur sanity and move forward. Why and when to scale up! If U have 1000 books and 20% of them make money- seems to me the problem is not the keywords but the number of books. Its like base ball- as long as the balls are being tossed to the batter- eventually he will hit the ball out of the part.

    I'm thinking that the reason you're so down on Canva is that you've clearly never bothered to learn all of its capabilities. This became totally obvious when you said you couldn't put the title on the spine of a book cover using Canva. You 100 percent can. It's as simple os entering the title in a text box and using the circular, two headed arrow that appears below the box and swinging the type box by 90 degrees. Voila!

    • @MyFreedomEmpire
      @MyFreedomEmpire  3 года назад

      You're right - I hadn't spent a lot of time using Canva. I have since learnt how to use it and have done an updated video on creating covers with Canva as a lot of people don't have access to graphic design software. However, especially after using it more in depth recently, I believe that using a professional graphic design software will create much better covers than Canva, especially if you want to make anything more than a text based cover.

      I use the Adobe Creative Suite as well as Canva. Adobe has a steep learning curve which Canva does not. I've found that once you learn the ins and outs of Canva (which takes a couple of hours), you can do some rather remarkable things with it...even making more than text-based book covers.

    Hi Caroline! thank you so much for your videos. You were the reason I gave me the push! thanks again. I wanted to ask I am so confused atm. when I advertise a 120 page book on my product page...and I have 4 pages front matter. does that mean they customer is getting 116 lined pages? or they get 120 lined pages but I create a template for 124 pages?
    Also. If my title starts each word with common letters. Do I insert in title box the same? with each starting with common letters?
    I'm having issues with my first upload. so trying to trouble shoot.

    • @MyFreedomEmpire
      @MyFreedomEmpire  3 года назад +1

      You're welcome! Oh I'm so happy to hear that! 😀
      It all depends o how many pages you want, so if you want the book to have 120 lined pages, then that's how many you create, then you add the 4 pages of front matter which will give a total of 124 pages. If you don't want any more than 120 pages in total, then you would only make 116 line pages. The amount of pages is really up to you.
      Sorry, what do you mean by common letters? What kinds of issues are you having?

    • @waheedahosein9496
      @waheedahosein9496 3 года назад +1

      @@MyFreedomEmpire thanks for responding! Sorry. In my country we sometimes say common letters (broken English 🤭) but really I meant lower case. I eventually changed when I was trying to troubleshoot errors. I spent hours trying to upload.
      Basically I did 120 lined pages but my front matter is 4 and I'm unsure if that affected my cover as a result.
      I ended up doing 116 lined pages and 4 front matter. Total 120
      But i figured out issue. What happened i created my own lined pages using the underscore and did a bit of a background which was within the guidelines. Keep getting error. But when i uploaded a lined page template it went through and got approved. I Basically wanted to customize each page so it won't be just plain lines.
      I guess my doc wasn't up to standard and i couldn't figure it out.
      Nor am i very verse to remove background or edit very well. Now learning.
      I'm only using canva atm.
      I'm looking to try to create a lined doc so i can customize for each book with a little artwork.
      But my question regarding the title was does it matter if my book name is all lower case letters and in my title I use upper case to start each word.

    Hello, I love your videos, I have a question regarding copyright...
    1. If I buy the images on the creative fabrica... I can immediately use them in my books, without modifying them?...
    2. If I download the images from the vecteezy page, do I have to edit them too? or can be used without problems?...
    what's the way I'm doing... I use the indesign cc program, I edit the vecteezy images from color to black and white, I also buy creative fabrica... I make a total of 120 images for the book, I pay the cover to fiverr for 15 USD,.... I'm doing fine?...
    I also pay designers each 200 USD, for the whole book + cover and back cover... the illustrations are unique and original... question: I'm spending a lot of money for 120 images, and covers, all the complete work?, I'm paying for a professional intermediate designer service...
    I would like to know your opinion and experience... the goal is 2000k a month starting; I already have 3 books, 2 published and 1 in revision... I have 3 other books to receive on February 5th... Am I on the right track? how I can be more productive... I'm doing quality and quantity work... only 1 month working with books..
    Thank you...

    • @MyFreedomEmpire
      @MyFreedomEmpire  3 года назад +1

      Thank you ! 😀
      1. I don't use Creative Fabrica so I would read the licence agreement for the image you want to use and it will tell you how you can use it.
      2. Same as above, check the licence of their images to find out what you can and can't do with them.
      As long as the licences don't prohibit them being used in colouring books, printed books or print on demand products then using them in your colouring book will be ok.
      I think creating your own (or outsourcing) unique images for colouring books is definitely the way to go and by the sounds of it, you are on the right track but you just need to be aware that the colouring book niche is highly competitive. You'll need to have some patience and perseverance but I definitely think that you can make money if your books are high quality and you help promote them either through ads or through pushing them via social media and building an email list.

      I would think that best approach to starting any business (talking from personal experience) it’s best to spend as little money as possible, and once business starts making money, to put that back into business to make it better. If you spend so much in the beginning and god forbid it doesn’t earn you any money you become too discouraged. And if you pay others to do all your work, you are not putting your 100% or even 50% in your business and it will eventually go on the back burner.

    I love your videos but the music in the background is so annoying- it’s a drum beating on one beat CONTINUOUSLY 😱 and this is how it is with most background music. I don’t like it because it’s one beat playing continuously. Listen to it in the fast playback speed , like everyone does who listen to learning videos coz of saving time, and you would understand what I mean. Plus I think majority of retired or retiring people look for such videos and most of us have some OCDs , which might be making us go crazy 😜 listening to this drum 🥁 beating continuously- don’t mind my saying it but just a suggestion.

Photoshop is anything but free. If you wanted to show an Adobe product, show their freee app, then discuss what you dont get compared to PSP Second you spent over 15 minutes not on apps but on critiques of people's covers. You should have incorporated that into showing the apps Finally, the one app you covered that was in your opinion the best, you took over 20 minutes to get to. I did speed your video up to get there. And you were wrong. 2 years after makkng the video its still up and running. Just input, for your future videos not trying to give you a hard time. Really
