These kids literally have to be a diamond in the rough to make it out of some of these places. As an Uber driver for the past 5 years I’ve seen it firsthand. Most of these kids will literally have to be above & beyond literally everyone to even have a chance of making it out of what they were born into. So sad.
My buddy had a painting company. He got a contract in NYC to paint two large buildings in the ghetto. They were six stories each. He told me he loved the job because by the time the third and fourth floors were completed the first and second already were tagged up with graffiti. The job lasted 5 years until the owners gave up. What does that tell you about the residents?
Doesn’t surprise me, these people don’t pick up trash, fix anything, maintain anything, and expect everyone to take care of them. Adult children is what they are. Build something nice, let them move in and see what it looks like after 5 years. And this is coming from a man who has been in real estate and rentals for decades
Yes and every comment defending these ppl is blaming the government 😂 the Ellis’s island immigrants got NADA from the government back in the day! They worked!
Born and raised in Atlanta hoods. I love my city. Definitely got into some trouble in my teen years, & have lost friends to the streets and the prison system. Just closed on a house this year and felt so incredibly proud of my family in how far we came throughout the years. My hearts go out to all of these people, especially the kids. I hope they overcome their obstacles and get out of there. This is not where you want to be
That is what's up! Congratulations, brother!! Anything is possible in America these days!! We need more people like you to share their story. To show our people that they too can make a good life for themselves! I grew up in the hoods of Washington DC during the crack epidemic and like you, I am now doing good in life. So true. Back in elementary school a few of us top performers got picked out of these rough schools around Atlanta to be in KIPP's first charter school here. One of my friends named Jeremy got picked as well he was very smart but got sucked into this street life bcuz he was poor and didn't have a stable home. He was murdered a few years ago so horribly. My heart hurts for my friend bcuz even with so much potential some of these ppls issues run so deep especially mental health issues that it is so very hard for them to break from this lifestyle. Even myself I dropped out of college literally bcuz I couldn't focus the needed amount of attention on school I was too busy working and trying to figure out how to pay for groceries and where to lay my head during the breaks bcuz my own home wasn't stable. @@chavezocohla3178 it is actually a bit of both in which those in charge of management of such "developments" have little oversight. All while the residents actively degrade their own living conditions via wanton destruction of property, graffitti, littering, and crime. It depends on where you're living and what the conditions are. It's hard to keep things clean when not everyone in the neighborhood is on the same page. To be fair they don’t have to live that way. They’ve all collectively made it that sad ghetto area. It would just be poor and ghetto but not 3rd world if they cleaned up after themselves and didn’t break all the first floor windows
Blame the city for not caring, not the people. They never took into consideration the amount of abandoned buildings and overgrown vegetation. You said clean up the trash, what's the point if no trash trucks show up? Where's the trash going? They can burn it, but that would pollute the environment and cause house fires.
Some of what aboxoftentacles1395 is saying is true. Part of their suffering is the government and/or city's fault. My boyfriend is a white color state employee and we live in Midtown of Atlanta. He's told me that the city is actively trying to push these people out. That means, the city is choosing not to help them so they can leave. The reasoning is to make way for more upper middle-class, middle-class and rich neighborhoods, primarily upper-middle and upper-class people. So yes even though they do contribute to their own plight, the city is also contributing. It's all about money and appearances. Atlanta want to be known as the city of wealthy southerners and grand opportunities for black people and other non-white people (Atlanta has a lot of rich black people). These ghetto neighborhoods are an obstacle. It is sad but that's the U.S for ya.
@@aboxoftentacles1395 Sad. Nobody can help you if you can't even maintain your own neighborhood and keep your house and yard clean. It would make me sick if I had neighbors like this. As a Nigerian, grew up in crazy environments, no school, no job, didn't loose my head, applied for a job here in Kuwait and the rest is history.. These guys can still turn their lives around for good..
People leaving is part of the problem. Alot of places like this never get better because people leave as soon as they get some money instead of reinvesting it into the community.
My wife is from an African country, her parents never learned to read or write. But her father worked hard, her mother kept their home clean, and she can read and write in 4 languages. Her parents forced her to study but couldn't help her. But those streets are filthy where she is from. Kids eating out of the garbage, violence, ethnic tribal violence, etc... It's tough.

@@usmokndopeordogfood7542 Story time. I grew up in an apartment complex. It was brand new when we moved in. The first families were good solid families. Many with fathers in the home. The building stayed clean and well maintained. Then fsmilies from the projects were moved into the building. Typically poor single mothers and there children. Soon enough you see holes in walls in hallways and smell urine from people pissing in the staircases. Graffitti began to appear on walls, etc. The more solid families moved out. More of the poorer project type families moved in. Soon what was once a nice building had been turned into a project complete with abandoned apartments inhabited by pigeons. Its about VALUES. The politicians didnt ruin the building. The low rent inhabitants with no values did.
I grew up in "Four Seasons". I was there from 76 to 82. I remember playing and running through abandoned apartments back then. This was during the time when it was "the missing and murdered children". It was not much better back then. I do think we had more fathers in the homes back then, so the children weren't as out-of-control as they are now.
what I can see it's the adults acting like children! Walking over trash and debris, and talking trash and not saying nothing!
And old wise proverb says it takes a village to raise a child! It is clear that the village here is not qualified to even help themselves! They most definitely need prayer there's nothing too hard for God!
Let's pray for the community and the children that God reaches the heart of the people and save his children! Give them a renewing of the mind! And that is in Jesus name we pray amen amen!
Was there a highschool back then?

@@crow2swann5 so what do you think cause such deplorable living conditions? From my research I think the crack epidemic did this to a lot of neighborhoods.I’m from Chicago and believe it or not Cabrini Green projects was actually not that bad before crack came into the picture.
@@Kykylandfarming I think 2 main problems cause this situation. 1. Is the lack of fathers in the home. Fathers provide structure and boundaries. When fathers are absent children grow up without discipline. So they don't notice or care when things are out of order. 2. The property owners aren't that involved in the property. They either don't have the money or they don't care. Management can dictate the quality of their residents.
These people cry about living conditions but I highly doubt anykne else besides themselves made it that way.
It’s not where you live but how you live ; even when we lived in a project apartment my mother still made it a palace for us ..from the inside you wouldn’t even think it was the ghetto right outside our door ..we had curtains, beds with headboards , fluffy carpets, clean and cozy.

The wealth disparity in Atlanta is horrifying. I used to live in Hapeville and the fact that you could drive 5 minutes and go from mansions to unlivable conditions was insane.
What is "wealth disparity"? I grew up in Hapeville, College Park, East Point, Bluff etc. I now am a homeowner with a career. My cousins are still doing this. No disparity, raised by the same family. You either choose to evolve, or don't. It's crazy to me to look back at how I used to live. It's still the norm for most of my family. 😢 Mind blowing.
@@trainwreckspod You are absolutely right. The left want's to blame "wealth disparity" when in fact it is people making their own choices. One is not destined to poverty. One chooses poverty.
@@trainwreckspod You sound foolish and solipstic as hell. You are not everyone. You are an individual, you ignoramus. We're talking about wealth disparity as a whole. The exception does not disprove the rule.
