Quite enjoyable to watch! Curious why you went with the OEM oil pickup and baffle? With it being a weak spot in the factory setup, i figured a fresh rebuild would be the ideal time to do a Killer B pickup and baffle or IAGs.
Since the entire car is going back to all stock, and up to the new owner if they want to modify the engine. It didn't seem worth it for me to spend the money on those upgrades. For a daily driver OEM is perfectly fine, if you start to track the car or go higher power then yeah Killer B is a great option. 👍
@lucidwerkz True true, makes sense. Car going back to all stock, that bad boy is getting sold haha. Honestly can't say I blame them. It's a love/hate relationship with the Subarus.
Yup i have another VA STi that makes 400whp. I will be rebuilding that one with more upgrades in another video and go over the benefits of each upgrade.
@@lucidwerkzI am doing the same, I need new block and I will put everything back to stock, you think the car will be reliable as it was before the mods? Its a 2021 STI, i want it for daily use
I just bought a 2010 wrx hatchback. I didn't know that sti engines can fit in there. On my log book it says 5 speed but mine is 6 speed sti manifold ihiv48 turbo. Does anyone know how much it is to convert. Very good video thank you
sti engines are just heavily modified wrx engines same block just different turbo system and custom heads and pistons. the tricky part is the drive train 6spds are not cheap. might as well buy sti.
yeah @growingup4487 is right, they really only share the same block, all the valvetrain is different on the engine, and the drivetrain is different. You can still mod a WRX quite a bit though! I used to have a 2011 WRX that was very modded.
basic hand tools, torque wrenches, and torque angle tools are needed, feeler gauges for valve clearance, and specialty tools for the seals can be found at Company23's website!
Hey I’m actually on the same path as you I want to do exactly the same thing.. I had a question about the heads, did you buy new cams? And also did you buy new cam caps? If so where did you buy them?
I reused the original camshafts. The way EJ turbo heads are made the cam caps and cylinder head are machined together, so the cam caps and cylinder heads can not be interchanged or replaced, unless you can find someone that can machine them together.
"I've been a master auto mechanic for 99 years before I knew how to crawl...you didn't prime that oil pump buddy! You're whole channel is terrible, your life sucks, you should re-evaluate your life choices and take up fine arts, charlatan!" ... Na, mate, just kidding. I actually work in healthcare and am building my first EJ22T built block. This video was such a pleasure and joy to watch. Thank you! Cheers! 🙂
Beautiful factory fresh Subaru EJ257!!!
A step by step video would be greatly appreciated! I have an ej255 I want to rebuild soon
The next Subaru engine build I do will be a step by step on it!
I think you mean, "install secondary air system never" lol. Great video. Glad RUclips recommended it!
honestly, it's so useless haha
You are skilled, this will help me to look after my sister's car.

I'm planning on my first swap soonish...Do you have a list of the tools you used for your assembly and install?

@@lucidwerkz I appreciate it! I've got an 06 STI with 160k miles on her (she runs and pulls fine) but I know it's a matter of time.

almost got me 😅
Could you give me a price on what I expect to pay on a fresh longblock please?
All new parts for a Sti long block will be very expensive. You might be better off trying to find a used one and having everything rebuilt.
how do you know which ones are the right torque spec?
Most repair manuals have torque specs for each bolt 👍🏻
4:12 He stopped the music so everyone has to stress with him
had to add a little pat on the engine for being good 😂
Where did you find the specs for individual torques
Online repair manuals such as ProDemand
I need engine subaru Ej 20 how much many my brother
i need one EJ25D FOR MY 1997 SUBARU OUTBACK 🥲😭
What is the price of an engine like this?
It depends, used Complete motors can be $5k+, or a new block which was just in the box in the beginning is around $2k.
@@lucidwerkz Thanks for the information
