71 here! I love to play with her techniques. I have been using shadow as a liner for many years but have not tried the winged look as my eyes are a bit more hooded now. Today I will try it & modify for my age.
I've been doing a version but I like how you diffused it further with your eyeshadow. BRILLIANT..... and NOT intimidating as long as you follow the line of your lower lid UP. Thanks Nikol! This is the softest version of a cat eye that I have seen: stunning!

I just showed a video on tricks for winter skin. Nikol instead of the expensive cream just apply a light layer of Vaseline brand Vaseline to hydrate and lock in moisture, even castor oil🙌🏻Even the journal of medicine recommends it over so many things. Winter is when we turn on our heaters and fireplaces and we just need to lock in more hydration.

I cannot wait to practice this. Winged eyeliner has been super popular again in the past few years. Of course every Instagram model showing gorgeous eye makeup looks are 20 years olds.. it’s not reality.
I am very comfortable with makeup, I’m 56 years old, So yes my eyelids are getting a little crepey in the inner corner and your hooded on the ends.
I have never been able to get a wing to look decent. It’s either too thick, too sloppy or just plain looks ridiculous😁.
One day I realized that I naturally hold up my eyebrows when I do my liner and mascara.. I don’t even know I’m doing it.
It dawned on me that that’s probably why I cannot do a wing that I am comfortable leaving the house in. Nobody walks around holding up their eyebrows🙄.
So now I am practicing doing a wing looking straight into the mirror and not lifting my brows… If you lift your brows too you’ll notice you lose quite a bit of lid space when you then relax.
I also do not do BLACK eyeliner and I haven’t since my 30s, A chocolate brown or a charcoal gray is much better for me.

I’m 47…almost 48. I REALLY struggle with putting the winged eyeliner on myself. I can put it on other people, but I find it difficult on my own eye. I think that no one prepares you for the changes your eye will undergo with the aging process. Thus, I’m really appreciative of this tutorial as I struggle to learn my ever-changing eye shape.

I recently created an almost identical look a few weeks ago for myself. I went about it almost exactly like you did. The exception for me was that my version uses only 2 eyeshadows and a pencil liner. Plus, a little mascara.
For myself, I wanted (and needed due to my health) a quick and easy smoky cat eye. My hands can get shaky and unsteady. So liquid eyeliner is out of the question. I agree that pencils are much easier to control and more forgiving.
The main difference is that I used 1 dark eyeshadow and 1 light pastel that most use on the brow bone below their eyebrow.
I used the dark shade as you did.
The light/pastel/brow bone shadow on the main part of the lid.
Then I blended just as you did.
If you use matte earth tones, I think you can wear it as a casual daytime look. To go to an evening look, just use shadows with just a hint of shimmer. Extend the wing, add the liquid liner, as well as false lashes as you suggested.
Your video lets me know I was already on the right track. 😊

Firstly, may I say that I LOVE your passion! Secondly, yes……. I am so going to try this winged look as I have really hooded eyes which are also downturned at the outer edges (I really hit the jackpot 😉). I have been unsuccessful in trying wings so far but you have really inspired me to try your tutorial and I’m feeling confident.
When I was a kid in the 60s my mom would always do my eyes with major wings using kajal. It is so cool that this style has come back again. But with age (I'm 62 now) my eyelids have totally disappeared under a fold of skin. I will invest in some of those Almay makeup remover pads and practice, practice, practice! Also I am glad to see someone else who has thick dark eyebrows and silver hair. Makes us unique.

It’s so beautiful. I’m a little afraid of black in winter, so instead I use an olive green velvet eyeliner, which completely match my eyes 👀
Have to keep the eyes open when doing this. I also discovered that I have to go more vertical that horizontal with the wing . Otherwise it droops downward. 😂. Softening it out with the eyeshadow is what I do too. So pretty! Thanks Nicol.

I've been following you for two years now and you were my inspiration that got me to embrace my silver hair and just have fun with it in my mid 30s ( I had an allergy to hair die so had to quit dying and I was really apprehensive about going gray and looking drab and "old"- whatever old means right?
