The Role of Hope in Holy Week

- There are many great ways to describe hope, but Fr. Mike defines it as “trust in another extended into the future.” He recalls two stories from the Gospels that exemplify what hope is not. When Peter denied Christ, and when the two travelers on the road to Emmaus abandoned their hope in Christ.
Peter had Jesus (they were basically best friends), but-by denying him-was essentially saying he didn’t need Jesus.
The travelers needed Jesus, but the way they saw it they no longer had him.
Fr. Mike explains how hope is knowing that we have Jesus and knowing that we need him. This hope can empower us to courageously get through our darkest hours.

Discernment takes you, the Chruch, and God. God ultimately decides. The first big step is to go to a Vocations Director and go to a discernment retreat. Perhaps you already know this. You must do it if you truly are discerning. You cannot discern alone. You need the Church. Best wishes friend.
I'd say go to vocation seminars, what really inspires you to become a priest someday. If it's really your calling, may it be marriage, single blessedness or what vocation it may seem. You have to have a solid motivation for it, it won't be easy but always pray for the Lord. God bless you bro+

Many around the world have been stunned by the Notre Dame fire, but even in the midst of such a terrible event, several wonderful and miraculous (IMHO) things occurred: 1. All three of the huge stained glass Rose Windows were saved, 2. the giant organ with 8000 pipes was saved, and 3. there were 400 fireman who coordinated with the people in charge of the church to execute a plan to save the relics and other treasures of the church, and it worked. I am sure there are others.
I believe that even in the darkest of times, God provides hope, and I agree that we also have to take action to activate that Hope. And, to remember that God's ways are not our ways, and Hope may be or appear to be absent, but, if we continue to trust, it will manifest.

Thank you from Ireland Father Schmitz. I turn to your talks when I'm feeling low or upset and you always say something that lifts me out of it.
When my wife died of cancer 3-1/2 years ago without my faith and without hope I am not sure how I would have survived. It still amazes me today that after her diagnosis, treatment and everything that comes with cancer treatment and then her passing, my faith became stronger and today I am a much different and better person. Also, because of my faith I met an incredible woman who I am now engaged to and we are so excited to spend our first Easter together and so exited for our future. Without hope none of this would have been possible.

I woke up at 2h30 and was crushed by the pain of analysing what fear has made me lose in my life.
I need to trust and not be afraid. He is with me always, He told me so Himself... but I guess I needed Fr. Mike to remind me.

Thank you Father for teaching and sharing your faith. I’ve been watching your videos for the past year or so and you helped me come into communion with the Catholic Church last December.
I also think it might very well be Cleopus and Mrs Cleopus (who was at th cross). The people who went through the trauma of watching Jesus arrested and dying tended to be among the first to see Him raised.
I’ve been had been having a lot of fear about the final coming. It got to the point where every hour I would ask god to please do not destroy this world, give us a One more chance. I believe God showed me this video to let me know, hey I am here for you do not worry because those who serve and love In my name shall have eternal life. Thank you father mike for making this video! Yes sometimes I feel I'm going crazy too. No worries, we have Jesus and the Church. Why do most of us Catholics think we are crazy? Maybe the non-believers are crazy.
