Candy STOP teasing my appetite, I have never had it with smoke herring but I am definitely try this. Love smoke herring, karela in Guyana is much more bitter than the ones in North America, I do not like it squeeze either, cook the way you did and the juice is super healthy. On my way for lunch 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Nia. I find that the chinese karela is not as bitter but the Indian one is the bitter one so I usually go for that..the smoked herring is a game changer it's super delicious let me know when you try it. Thank you for stopping by have a great day hon.
@@candythaglamcook I made this over the weekend, I got the indian karela and you are correct, this was heavenly divine, everyone cannot stop eating, it was so delicious. Thank you for sharing this.
I'm just wondering why you didn't salt the kerilla and let it soak before you cooked it. I'm wondering if it would taste bitter doing it the way you're doing it
Wait wait hold up. What are u doin to me Candy? Mi luv mi dhal with white rice & that pep sauce oh my oh my. Is that home made pep sauce? Now lets get to da karela 🤔🤔mi dnt like it, but when I do cook it for mi mum I will have a little, da betterness & mi oooh laaawwwddd. This menu looks good but I would have to drown out da karela with nuff dhal, 24hrs later is mi & latrine🤭😶. Tfs my dear.
Lol 😆 I know karela isn't everyone's favorite but you can do just do the salted fish with dhal. And yes the pepper sauce is homemade. Thank you for visiting hon have a great day 😊❤
Yes I hate the bones too. it's hard to find ones without bones so what I do is get the young ones where the bones are super fine you can hardly tell its a bone.

Another new recipe to me, but I'd certainly try. I've never seen or heard of the Karela
It is a vegetable known to the Caribbean..It is also known as bitter melon in other parts of the world..
You might be turned off by the bitterness lol its an acquired taste but worth a try.
We are watching this delicious recipe take shape right now. This looks like mom's dhal. Mom said you're making her mouth water.😃 Thanks cousin.

That looks good, I just never liked karela or smoked herring. I would substitute those with okra and salted fish. Love dhal though.
Yes I have recipes with okra and salted fish that's one of my favorites too.

@Gomesgirl I like the full nutritional value of the karela so I don't do anything to it. I like it bitter. Feel free to salt yours if you prefer.

Yes I hate the bones too. it's hard to find ones without bones so what I do is get the young ones where the bones are super fine you can hardly tell its a bone.
@@candythaglamcook I put mine in the blender after picking some out. It helps a lot. 😩
@@curlygoddesschrissy9800 hmm interesting not sure I would like it blend I like the chunky pieces of fish.
it's look like soup chicpeas....this recipe for me is interesting... Karela now I know in our country we call it ampalaya or bitter gourd
Yes better gourd/melon that's right.
