Indeed, truly a legend rider, the saviour of rider franchise, and the only ost dat stick to my head till i grow up lol
What I most like about Kuuga is that the writers made sure not to make it like the Showa era at all. Before Kuuga, Kamen Riders have always been cyborgs or remodeled in some way, and for some reason kept their identities secret from their closest allies, here Kuuga was just a regular guy who put on an old belt to gain his powers, and didn't really care about keeping a secret identity at all. Also, while the Showa villains were secret organizations that try to take over the world, with plans usually involving stealing someone's inventions, holding hostages to get something and NEVER keeping their promises to free them, and most of the time and the leader is something that never actually gets fought, in Kuuga the villains are an ancient tribe that only care about killing humans and not much else, and the leader does end up fighting Kuuga.
This show proved that they could make a Kamen Rider series without relying on any tropes from the past, and sure nowadays Kamen Rider is overloaded with Riders, more focused on collectables and belts that just won't shut up (Though I would be lying if I said they weren't a guilty pleasure of mine), but at least there's more creative freedom in what they can do.
But they still paid tribute to the original by having the first two monsters based on the same animals as the original KR's first two monsters of the week.

I'm watching this show on tubi and it's awesome one my first kamen rider series.
It is dark af but the whole theme of the protagonist is never giving up and always keeping the optimism he has, regardless of how messed up in situation he is in while committing to protect everyone. NO FEAR NO PAIN

I love Ichijo's character.
He's Just human, and that Just makes it a bit better than the others

This is, by far, the best Kamen Rider season ever created (Agito comes very close, but it's still second best). One of the feelings I have every time I watch it is that I'm not watching a traditional tokusatsu, but something similar to real life.

Joe Odagiri before he became famous. Also this is my first Kamen Rider during childhood. This is probably the only Heisei KR with the highest body count. Gurongis are brutal and merciless. The director seems to want an X-files KR. Kuuga's Ultimate Form is the only form that didn't show its finishing move. Also what I like about Kuuga is to police isn't always useless and try to adapt to the situation and Kuuga doesn't call his attacks when executing the final blow/finisher or mention what form he is turn into. They are only mentioned in supplementary materials. The final battle was awesome. No screaming your attacks and fancy finishers. Just a brutal duel to the death. They even keep figjting after reverting to their human form after damaging their respective belts.

Well, some people say that he hated tokusatsu, therefore he only liked his role in Kuuga because of the production staff and how well it was executed.
Joe oda actually dislike tokusatsu. Even till this days, he refused to join as cameo.
I can see why he agree doing this, no bullshit yelling out skills name or forms.

Kuuga was the last series the original creator worked on before he died. He died before Kuuga debuted
But compared to other Riders, all Kuuga has is physical strength. A lot of other riders have powers and abilities that could defeat Kuuga even though they are physically weaker. Like Wizard’s magic or Evolto’s ability to make black holes.

I don't think so. At least here in Brazil, Kamen Rider Black and RX were very popular in the 80s.

Fun fact, it's implied that the original Kuuga beat all of the Gurongi without the Rising forms and that's just badass considering how powerful some of them are.
The original kuuga sealed them not killing them like godai do because kuuga's own power is dangerous

They're still mature now in terms of themes and the way they handle it. But the gimmicks and comedy just make them more tamer in comparison.

I think from what I heard the pose was a nod to the crucifixion of Christ. This WAS during the beginning of 2000 and Christianity's influence was still spreading in Japan until late 2001.
Kuuga. I love Kuuga. It's an amazing show, and my personal favorite Kamen Rider series. I recommend this to people even if they aren't a tokusatsu fan.

One thing I can respect is the similarities between both Kuuga and Ichigo's first enemies. They both fought enemies with spider capabilities. A way of showing folks a new generation of Kamen Rider was about to begin.
And it's been a recurring motif in Kamen Rider ever since.

I actually discover kuuga from the ps1 game and just the opening song alone made me hooked on it. At that time it's really hard for me to actually get into KR series since indonesia tv channel didn't air any KR before kuuga (black and black rx aired on some point but it got cut in the middle and replaced with something else).
I played the kuuga game before I had the chance to watch the Kuuga TV series. lol.

This is your notification that in the U.S Kuuga is available to see, in its entirety online, on Pluto TV & Tubi.
Kuuga also set up a little known TV use in Japan known as "The Godai Factor". It's named after the actor who played Godai but I'm sure someone will reply to this and put the nane of the actor in to show their "super smart" (*sarcasm*).
Apparently a lot of women in their 30s and older watched Kuuga because they had the hots for Godai. So "The Godai Factor" is basically get a hot, sexy man, and make him the lead. Something that we use in the U.S a lot in various media.

Well we just have to separate the character from the actor to enjoy the story. That's all, that's how Ishinomori works.
Well despite Odagiri not being a fan of Tokusatsu, he actually love Kuuga series as a whole. I guess that's good enough. Shame that Toei fired Kuuga producer during Hibiki series which make Odagiri return near impossible now.

@@Hizaization But the thing is, Sato while too busy, would love to return, so there's still some chance, as you see in Heisei Generation Forever. Odagiri on the other hand, doesn't like tokusatsu, Kuuga was a role he was forced to do, so I doubt he'd ever want to return. He appreciates that Kuuga launched his career and still speak of its crew in high regards, but that's it.

I'm just gonna say Kuuga is my favorite Rider because it's my first, but also because when I rewatched it when I was older, the story is actually a combination of light-hearted without the cheap comedy (that many of KR have since Kabuto) and dark without being edgy. It' strikes a nice balance that I couldn't say Kuuga is light-hearted nor could I say Kuuga is dark. Kuuga is just... Kuuga and can't be described with any other words.

@@Joshua_N-A Yes, starting from Agito, they decided to have ending songs (or another insert song, but that happens rarely) played during the episode's climax. I think it's a nice touch to differentiate KR from other tokus.
@@LiberiArcano also Kuuga probably has the highest body count on screen out of Heisei era. I never realize the brutrality when I first watch it again years after it aired in my country. Kuuga is my first Kamen Rider.
@@Joshua_N-A I know, the high body count is what makes Kuuga so dark. The following series also have their death tolls, but they pale in comparison with Kuuga.
The newer KR series are more kid-friendly, although sometimes they can afford to be a little bit more dramatic. As far as I remember, Build is the last series I know about where people actually died.

Wow, I have watched from first until last episode. But, I cannot see last fight scene (last episode) between Kuuga and monster that had been cut by RCTI television broadcast station; except I only see that Godai's girlfriend was crying because Godai was dead.
