Skilez Once I can adjust everything for planets, It was made in gravity, but I still have some things to test. Unfortunately I haven't been able to do that because planets have been to unstable for me :/
Rity ah so, you first want to finalize it as soon as planets are fixed! too bad for me but understandable. have fun and continue with your great work! btw, nice editing on the video too!
+Rity I tried to make a space elevator in earthlike plannet. It doesn't matter, the game will crash it. And there is a limit of how long you can build a structure. It topped at 20km. Of course, I could cheat with merge blocks but the game started crashing at that point, and I have 16GB RAM. My design was a bit different then yours, but maybe your is more stable. Mine would fall easily, but when going up the wheels would crash. I wish we could make the blocks unbreakable.
+Valo56 depend how fast it orbit and if it lose too much speed then it will start to fall down, besides so far seems planets wont rotate so it will simply collapse if damaged enough
+Valo56 Given that it's still in the gravitational field of the planet (or at least most of it is) it would cause unparalleled destruction on the surface.
I am blown away. This is so impressive I don't have words for it. Every aspect, from the form to the function, from the base to the station. This is a work of art.
If mankind had already put aside their differences, and powerful countries stop thinking that the others only live for them, maybe we're now seeing this Constructed and not only dreamed of. I have to say beautiful project.
+Alexandre Kleiubing A Space Elevator will never be built. While they look cool they make absolutely no logistical sense. Even if you had the technology to construct one the cost would be insane. It would be wayyyyyy easier and cheaper to just fly material in rockets up to some orbital station.
+Alexandre Kleiubing if i not forgot to send one pound of materil to space today cost about U$7000 if you can deploy a space elevator the cost drop to 10%
+Craving Hibiscus +Craving Hibiscus Thanks, I was pumped when I did concepts and found that this was possible, and so stable. As long as you have a planet or two for steel, you should be good lol
Let me go on a limb and say that I absolutely love the aesthetic on the build, especially in the lobby/reception area. I want to see more creators who can use decor like that.
+rippspeck yeah It took a damn long time to make in creative I don't even want to think about making in survival. It's for the rich engineer who has everything.
Tricksy little hobbit! Nearly had a heart attack when I saw this, I thought you had built this in the planet dev code! :D Seriously though, this is an absolutely beautiful design. I've been really excited about seeing the first working space elevator ever since Keen confirmed planets were inbound, and you have basically gone and built four of them! Really novel idea with the split carriages around the main tether, and you even went so far as to build fantastic looking station lobbies at both ends as well! Can I see a little bit of influence from Halo in there per chance? I'm sure you've already thought of this, but when planets do finally release, it might be worth looking at using either artificial mass and a gravity generator, or Digi's modified grav gens (which produce natural gravity), together with a script to increase or decrease their output according to the proximity to the planet, to nullify the gravitational pull on the carriage as it runs up and down the tether. Fantastic work, I doff my cap to you!
+ChunkeeMunkee Yep I got the segment look from halo. Funny story: I took the project up because while messing around I realized round blocks look really good together as thick cables, but the only thing big enough to utilize cables of that size are a space tether. So here we are lol.
+Rity That sounds just like what I would do. Realise that I could use a block that works really well as a particular detail, then build everything around it. Very spur-of-the-moment. Also, that elevator is literally the best thing I've seen built in this game.
WOAH man I was on your returning stream I know you remember that but I didn't know you played space engineers! I love this game you should do a series on it
This is so damn amazing!!! This video made me look through all of your other content and it's great. Love the cinematography! Can't wait to see this in action on a planet now!
I'm loving the Halo/Mass Effect vibe here, plus this could possibly be practical if the elevator were not in a hostile area or well protected. Definitely an interesting concept.
He/she definitely got the outside of it from halo, but the inside lobby area screams Mass Effect to me for some reason. Anyways its beautiful, i hope that when planets come out people will still be able to construct these, would be very cool to see.
+Justin Knapik I think saying the outside is like Halo is a bit of a stretch. I mean, its a space elevator and the cable is a long series of rings; its an intuitive concept and it looks really cool. However, the interior does definitely have an ME vibe to it, reminds me of the Presidium, or that Quarian ship you go on for Talis trial.
+Justin Knapik Yeah the rings were inspired from Halo, However I do agree with ATMLVE that anything else might look weird ( like just a cable by itself I guess? kinda weird). Everything else including the inside was just a style i've been using for a city I'm making, though I guess it does look a bit mass-effect-y.
Wow, thats amaaaaazing!!!!! I've been dreaming for months on building an stable and fast elevator, and your design is just IMPRESSIVE! I am looking forward to those blueprints, or at least a world to try :) Please!!!
Little bit of background math for the interested ones. The cab travels at 104km/h tops. Using that number you need: 344.096 hours (or 14 days and 8 hours!) to geosynchronous orbit (that's 35,786km above ground, the place where objects in orbit travel at the same pace as the Earths rotation) 3.857 hours to the perigee of the ISS (closest point in its orbit at 401.1km above ground) 3.923 hours to the apogee of the ISS (farthest point in its orbit at 408.0km above ground). To get to geosynchronous orbit, in under 4 hours, the cab would need to travel at the whooping speed of about 9,000km/h (resulting in a travel time of 3.972 hours).
Wow you did it, congrats dude. That's amazing. I cannot wait for the planets update. I want to know what happens if you try to paste this in on one lol
+Slyrae Durant Well I can vouch for it working in natural gravity, I've tested it pretty vigorously with the mod. That being said, I'm scared to think about the FPS drop of both this and a planet. Thanks btw!
+Rity ...in my testing I noticed SE DOES use VRAM but it's just not enough and if it isn't enough the game outsources the fdata to system RAm which of course is much slower
Everyone give up, he wins. The sheer scale of this is insane. Nice. Now if only we started a Kickstarter to raise money for a massive server in order to create an actual multiplayer city around this.
+Max Berndt haha thanks man. It's really a shame because I actually have a cool city to go along with this, however SE can't handle that many huge structures. Maybe once its optimized a bit
Rity That sounds amazing. I used to love Space Engineers, but I ended up giving up on it due to my lack of time and my low-end computer. Optimization is just what we need. Oh, and I forgot to mention this, but whoever edits your videos is really good.
as soon as I saw this I started thinking about halo odst and halo 3 and halo reach and the movie halo forward unto dawn due to the space tethers being in them
This is insanely impressive but also impractical. The tether would need to go underground therefore making your lobby not possible as what you made. Still cool
jesus great fucking job! i can barely make a timer block enable a thruster... let alone create a functioning space elavator! kudos to you for being talented enough to build this
+MasterMacNugget Glad you liked it. Believe it or not though, this build is alot more about proper design and balancing everything then complicated timers/programs
+Mark Rugg (Shade) I would have but I've been having trouble building it on planets (from lag, RAM usage etc.) While it was tested in Digi's gravity mod before planets, it still would need adjustments for real planets. I'm just not going to put out a half working build, and unfortunately SE is a bit buggy/laggy atm. I know some people might be okay with it, but I'm sure plenty of people would not be. Sorry, if you want you could follow my on the workshop to see when I can post it.
That sounds fair. I was just looking for a good Space Elevator to use that also looked good. so far no one has made a completely fail-proof elevator. Mostly because of the build height restrictions. This one is the absolute best in operation and looks. At least, the video shows it to be. :P I only wanted one for aesthetic reasons so I'm really fussing over it.
In reality, the only problem with this is that it will cause huge amounts of stress on the anchors on the ground since the elevator will create friction against the atmosphere and because it will struggle to hold because of gravity changing the higher you get thus leading to weak supports. But this is an amazing build. thumbs up!
+Andrew Ogden if it went all the way out to geo-synch you'd have next to no issues. plus you'd be above earth atmosphere and in zero-g and thus you could use thrusters in the anchor station to help out. Or magnetically stiffen it.
if I had something like this on my map i'd be tempted to break the tether and push the station into the planets gravitational pull and have a crazy time lol
This reminds me of Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST. Did anyone notice in the beginning of ODST, if you look between 2 of the space tether's support structures, you can see the In Amber Clad, Miranda Keyes' Paris Class Heavy Frigate fly past.
There's just something wonderfully romantic about space travel, isn't there?
this must be the single most impressive thing built in space engineers so far! my god!
+Skilez Thanks, I'm probably the most proud of this one.
Rity is there any chance you will make it available to the public via steam workshop? i would love to experience this first hand!

Mine would fall easily, but when going up the wheels would crash. I wish we could make the blocks unbreakable.
I love the design of the entire tether complex! And I shudder to think how much it bogged down your system. Mad respect for creating this!
... This would be very exciting to be in as someone tried to destroy it.
+Valo56 Imagine the top falling to the surface once it's severed
if it were realistic, the top would fly off into space, orbiting the planet
+Valo56
depend how fast it orbit and if it lose too much speed then it will start to fall down, besides so far seems planets wont rotate so it will simply collapse if damaged enough
+Valo56 Depending on the altitude it would be placed at. Anything below GSO and it would fall. And this one definitely doesn't go to GSO
+Valo56 Given that it's still in the gravitational field of the planet (or at least most of it is) it would cause unparalleled destruction on the surface.
I am blown away. This is so impressive I don't have words for it. Every aspect, from the form to the function, from the base to the station. This is a work of art.
I'm getting halo ODST And Halo 3 flashbacks here.
Same haha
Mobile suit gundam 00 anyone
Yup
Halo 3? There werent any space elevators in halo 3? Just 2 and odst (which were the same elevator)
Deus Lo Vult Forward unto dawn*
The best space elevator ever!
Workshop download?
+Skythedragon yeah please we want workshop dowload negga ! Space rity pls
the download cant be used anymore since space engineers physics and updates damaged the files and the way it works
If mankind had already put aside their differences, and powerful countries stop thinking that the others only live for them, maybe we're now seeing this Constructed and not only dreamed of.
I have to say beautiful project.
if only.
+Alexandre Kleiubing A Space Elevator will never be built. While they look cool they make absolutely no logistical sense. Even if you had the technology to construct one the cost would be insane. It would be wayyyyyy easier and cheaper to just fly material in rockets up to some orbital station.
Vsauce has a video on that topic ... you should watch it
DerSchnocker i already see long time ago
+Alexandre Kleiubing if i not forgot to send one pound of materil to space today cost about U$7000 if you can deploy a space elevator the cost drop to 10%
Great video editing. The cinematography, the angles, the perspectives, the sudden depth of field and a bunch more. Good job.
This is so amazing. My mind is blown. I actually showed it to a lot of my friends. Thank you for this. Good soundtrack!
that is insanely cool, and suddenly the space elevator idea seems viable, and beautiful!
Holy mackerel! I've seen a lot of amazing things built in this game but this Space Elevator takes the cake. Amazing work.
This is incredible, massive props.
+Morphologis Hey Morph, thanks glad you like it.
This would have no chance of working in modern space engineers without an entire mechanism redesign.
Also anyone watching, this was pre-planets...
... Even looking at the video made my computer overheat xD
The Editting and presentation is top notch mate! well done!
props to you for creating the coolest space engineers build EVER.Well done.
+Black Ice 113 (vig11) Thanks, it's my favorite build I've made so far.
THATS AMAZING AND THE TIEM IT TOOK TO MAKE MIND BOGLING
I just cant possibly wrap around my head that people have this level of patience :S
Honestly, this video got me into space engineers... 5 years... been a while
This is by far the biggest project I have seen. Imagine building that thing in survival, you'd need to mine out half a planet!
Can't wait.
+rippspeck yeah It took a damn long time to make in creative I don't even want to think about making in survival. It's for the rich engineer who has everything.
As soon as the Planets update came out, I knew someone would claim the honor of building this.
+Randy Butternubs Actually this came out a month before planets ;)
Tricksy little hobbit! Nearly had a heart attack when I saw this, I thought you had built this in the planet dev code! :D
Seriously though, this is an absolutely beautiful design. I've been really excited about seeing the first working space elevator ever since Keen confirmed planets were inbound, and you have basically gone and built four of them! Love when people not only build epic, but take time with aesthetics.
+justin Kline Same, I feel like you can certainly do both and often they compliment one another.
+Rity Absolutely.
Been having this idea in mind for most of my life.
This , Sir, is one of the best builds I've ever seen in any game. Arthur C Clarke would be impressed!
probably the most intricate and good looking object built in SE so far
This is the most impressive structure in SE yet, bravo!
+cahsahhhhhhhn it certainly was the most fun to build myself, thanks!
I think this is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen anyone do in SE
This is so damn amazing!!! This video made me look through all of your other content and it's great. Love the cinematography! Can't wait to see this in action on a planet now!
+SonicJohn117 Thanks, glad you like my stuff!
I'm loving the Halo/Mass Effect vibe here, plus this could possibly be practical if the elevator were not in a hostile area or well protected. Definitely an interesting concept.
This is incredible... :). Great video production too!
+Xocliw Thank you, I always like to keep my video quality high.
+TheXLCREEPER™ haha no, However I would love to work with them. Maybe I'll get a chance to if im lucky.
***** It just two skyboxes made to emulate what it would look like.
Hey thanks everyone for the support! Alot of my video are similar to this so if you liked what you see consider subscribing! Thanks.
+Rity The best space elevator ever!
Workshop download?
+Skythedragon When I finish it, i'll release it. I'd like to use it on a planet first.
me too, I hope planets are coming soon, and when you finish it I like to see it with oxygen support.
+Rity make a version that is a firing platform/orbital defence system or is that too much...? (I sound like an ass don't I)
+David Mcmurder Not quite sure what you mean. How would I militarize an elevator lol.
This is the best thing i've ever seen created in Space Engineers. Superb job mate! definitely a sub from me
+TheBassAvenger wut? you created this, damn I thought that was me (: thanks for the sub, I really appreciate it.
You must've had a lot of time on your hands! :)
This is amazing and inspiring, I can't wait to see it on actual planets when they come out!
absolutely lovely! Inspired me to try building one! I hope to see this beauty on the workshop!
This is not what I expected when I came to this video, but it's a very nice video, so it's a pleasant surprise.
Well done, that looks amazing :)
+Morilibus Lp Glad you liked it, thanks!
He/she definitely got the outside of it from halo, but the inside lobby area screams Mass Effect to me for some reason. Anyways its beautiful, i hope that when planets come out people will still be able to construct these, would be very cool to see.
+Justin Knapik I was thinking the same thing about the Mass Effect vibe, lol. But, yeah, a lot of Halo vibe too on the outside

However, the interior does definitely have an ME vibe to it, reminds me of the Presidium, or that Quarian ship you go on for Talis trial.
Well it's exactly how halo made their space elevators, that's why i said it.
Its just the large amount of spacious, smooth, light-grey interior, with some plants here and there.
omg this videos amazing ,really good editing and the music's perfect!
+corgidog quirke Thanks!
Wow, this is absolutely incredible
thats some production level stuff there. nice job.
And shack said it couldn't be done. Great work!
+EmperorHotshot Shack doesn't have the [patience for this sort of build.
Wow, thats amaaaaazing!!!!!
I've been dreaming for months on building an stable and fast elevator, and your design is just IMPRESSIVE!
I am looking forward to those blueprints, or at least a world to try :)
Please!!!
Very nice video-production, and good music choice.
Wow, someone watched Forward Unto Dawn! Very nice touch and awesome design!
Subscribed!
This is just amazing ! Keep it up ! Great work !

I remember watching this in high-school lol
same here
Epic stuff for SE. Good job m8
Impressive! Now create one with the new planets in-game :D
+Drakotar I'm working on it, but its not going very well. The RAM usage for planets is insane, and its not handling such a big structure very well :/
Rity I thought so, lets hope in time the memory usage is ironed out, does Space Engineers use Unity5?
Drakotar nope. SE doesn't seem to use VRAM, which is pretty frustrating.
Rity Ah thats a shame, :l
+Rity ...in my testing I noticed SE DOES use VRAM but it's just not enough and if it isn't enough the game outsources the fdata to system RAm which of course is much slower
Excellent video! The space elevator is cool to. ;) Can't wait to get home to try it out.
both build and video are very well done, kudos.
The musics reminded me a lot of a weird mix between Mass Effect and Clockwork Orange^^ Very nice build anyway !
Especially with the armor
I did not know you could do that kind of thing in space engineers. Wowee.
This is so... beautiful.... I don't know what else to say... fantabulous maybe?
Everyone give up, he wins.
The sheer scale of this is insane. Nice.
Now if only we started a Kickstarter to raise money for a massive server in order to create an actual multiplayer city around this.

Oh, and I forgot to mention this, but whoever edits your videos is really good.
I do everything for my videos, including editing. So thanks!
you've earned a like for this one and I'm not one that slaps them on every video of a cute kitty
impressive work!
2:14 Now that's what I call a view.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
as soon as I saw this I started thinking about halo odst and halo 3 and halo reach and the movie halo forward unto dawn due to the space tethers being in them
Back in the old days of the game :) Love it :)
god damn could you imagine being the maintenance crew for this thing (awesome by the way)
+PackAnimal lol That would be scary as hell. I'll stay in space or on the ground thanks.
yup and really cool tether
Oh my lord. That is amazing mate.
That´s pretty awesome, great work!
i have seen some impressive things in space engineers but this is incredible.
and then the Covenant drop in and blast it down!
Looks super cool, :)
But also hats off to dear creator of this space elevator great job 👍🏻
This is some Halo shit right here. Man this is awesome. It reminds me of the space elevator scenes in Halo Forward Unto dawn.
While this is very impressive, it seems very vulnerable to enemy attacks.
Not really one of those things thats built and used in a hostile environment.
You could kamikaze a large drone into the pillar and slice the thing in two
true you need a field of barrage pillars around it!
Insane Plum yes also airplanes weather other space objects
Jake I then it comes collapsing down and its would be awesome to watch if your PC could handle it.
OMG this looks like a spacestation from Mass Effect. It could rlly be used in this game though. This is the best build I've seen in this game. Wow
That's beautiful work
unfortunately i can only thumbs up this once. Great job!
Love the station's interior
+Rity I never comment on videos, but damn.. 2 years on and this video made my recommended list. This video has aged well haha
My friend linked me this video and it's definitely pretty cool!
Annndddd this is why I love this game.
We’ve seen this before in Star Wars the Clone Wars season 4 episode 20 and honestly it was super cool
reminds me of Halo forward unto dawn, Nice work :)
This is insanely impressive but also impractical. The tether would need to go underground therefore making your lobby not possible as what you made. Still cool
Amazing build and video, really. Would like it to reach a billion views x).
This is incredible. Space Engineers is cool and all, but I have a hard time staying interested in it.
jesus great fucking job! i can barely make a timer block enable a thruster... let alone create a functioning space elavator! kudos to you for being talented enough to build this
not to mention you make a functional AND astetically pleasing space elevator!
+MasterMacNugget DOn't feel bad; I can't figure out timers to save my ass too; smashed up quite a few ships and abses trying.
+MasterMacNugget Glad you liked it. Believe it or not though, this build is alot more about proper design and balancing everything then complicated timers/programs
i wouldn't doubt it! imk suprised you can even run it, however! my computer lgs to 4 frames per socond when i try to mine magnesium XD
how does one type
This was beautiful
Holy mother of awesome work
Seriously need a download of this. The whole world, the Tether's blueprint, SOMETHING!
please
+Mark Rugg (Shade) I would have but I've been having trouble building it on planets (from lag, RAM usage etc.) While it was tested in Digi's gravity mod before planets, it still would need adjustments for real planets. PUT THIS ON THE WORKSHOP NOW.
I definitely need to build one of these.
Holy crap! Would love to see the download of this! O_O
Amazing! Just thinking of making this in survival would be like a year of hours playing the game to get it.
Wtf. Fantastic work. Its so cool.
I knew this was possible! XD
And my friends said "I dont think something like this will be stable"
I'd love to cover an entire planet in a shield and then have only the Space Elevator to act as a checkpoint of such.
