@@sirspongadoodle But it is a fact that in those days while he played with that guitar he was a much better guitarist and his tone was much better than today.
Run a permanent search on the usual places, you will eventually be lucky. Unfortunately, those are coming far and few in between. The last one Reverb shows was sold 8 years ago. I do think the Ibanez JPM are better than the Music Man, but they probably paid better. Ibanez has already so many endorsees....
@@scramblesthedeathdealer I know what you mean. Unfortunately, because this particular model is no longer manufactured, if you want one, you will have to pay a higher tab. That being said, you can get a very similar one for under 1000 GBP. Of course, it will not have the Petrucci appointments, but in any case, playing like him is just a dream for most of us.
@p6x2 Yeah, I have 7 RGs right now (one has been stripped for parts to upgrade my son's Gio Mikro), from a $299 RG220B to an almost $1,000 (new in 2012, I got it used for a better deal) Premium RG1XXV 25th Anniversary RG... I know the JPMs have been discontinued for a while, I may one day buy a Chinese knockoff just to hang on the wall for decoration, I can't see spending over $3,000 on one guitar, and I'd love a JEM, one day, as well... I may settle for a JEM Jr in shocking pink and do some upgrades on it.
@@scramblesthedeathdealer I have spent too much money on equipment to emulate the guitar players I admire. I am done with it. I think we all go through that phase, to purchase some signature equipment because we like a particular musician. I realized quickly that even with the best possible equipment, when I play, I am just me. Obviously, purchasing signature equipment is a way to support them. But I have gone past those stages.
@@scramblesthedeathdealer yeah man, the JPM was amazing, if only Ibanez had added a piezo for John, we wouldn't have the dull and uninspiring MM sound of today. But hey, you are pretty much set with your RGs, just install a few steve special's and air nortons, and you are good to go :D
@@clarenceoveur9497 I've got them all tricked out with pickup upgrades/etc. I actually have a blue Air Norton and Tone Zone that are in need of a guitar to go in 🤔
You composed the most beautiful songs with this guitar. Thank you John.
Dream guitar ... Picasso
He sounded and played better with that guitar. Just my opinion.
I think so too.
well your wrong because electric guitars do not sound better.
@@sirspongadoodle They don’t, but pickups and amps do. And I think that’s what OP was really alluding to.
@@RichardGarcia93 wrong… glenn fricker has videos proving that…

I was given to understand that the pickups were hand-wired by Tony Blair.
a holy grail for me .... p1 and especially the p2 are gorgeous ... one day ..she ll be mine ....
It’s still the coolest graphic I know on any guitar.
That guitar is iconic!
I want a JPM so bad... especially the camo colored one.

@@p6x2 Even if I could find one for sale, I couldn't afford it. I saw someone selling one for like £2,800, so like $3,500+, way out of my price range.

Love the guitar 🎸
Nice
Iconic guitar.
Pre-caveman Petrucci 😂
I was wondering why I never see these come up for sale. I was clearly working in the wrong income bracket!
This is a toy compared to what JP plays now!
I still think the Ibanez looks way cooler, but to each their own.
