    The Magnum XL-200, also known as just Magnum, is a steel roller coaster built by Arrow Dynamics at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. When built in 1989, it was the tallest, fastest and steepest complete-circuit roller coaster in the world as well as the first hypercoaster (complete-circuit roller coaster exceeding 200 feet (61 m) in height). It is considered to have started the roller coaster wars, in which amusement parks competed to build the highest and fastest roller coasters. More than 40 million people had ridden Magnum as of 2009.
    Magnum XL-200 won the Golden Ticket Award for Best Steel Roller Coaster for three consecutive years from 1998 to 2000, until Millennium Force - the first roller coaster to exceed 300 feet (91 m) - moved into the top spot in 2001. Magnum, which has never been ranked lower than tenth, is currently ranked ninth.

    Just to put it out there, in my opinion I preferred the POVs without the personal interaction. Might sound a little rude, but I don't really know you (or whoever's in the videos) well enough to find it enjoyable, helpful or interesting.

    I've been to cedar point once and it was in 2000, the year millenium force opened. I spent at least an hour and a half waiting in that line. My father skipped that one but did go on magnum with me and it was around the same time of day as yall.
    For future reference I don't recommend going there when you have an ear infection. Ouch

    I swear to God this was the reason I went home. Every time you went on the air time hills there was a big wave throughout the roller coaster going "OUCH!" I had bruises on my legs after the ride. Wouldn't really suggest going on it but go ahead! My dad has leg problems and it hurt him pretty bad so if you have something with your legs you shouldn't go on it.

    • @loki3523
      @loki3523 6 лет назад

      Yeah. I got that too when I first rode it. I learned that you have to seriously tighten your seat belt until you can barely move anymore. Certain seats tend to hurt more than others as well. You just gotta get a feel for it.

    • @mhtube01
      @mhtube01 9 лет назад

      Fresco D They are similar layouts in some regards but they're made by different companies. Magnum is made by Arrow Dynamics and Steel Force is made by Morgan Company. I've never been to Cedar Point so I've never ridden Magnum but from what I've heard, this coaster hasn't aged well and has gotten pretty rough over the years. It doesn't look very smooth in this video. I'm a Pennsylvanian though so I've been to Dorney many times and ridden Steel Force more times than I can count! My favorite coaster in the park for sure and it's very smooth. I went to Dorney opening weekend this year and they did some work to Steel Force during the off season by replacing some of the brakes (you can see the old ones sitting under the station and the holding brake run) and refurbished the lap bars on all of the trains. Nice to see they're keeping it in good shape!

    • @mikec2707
      @mikec2707 9 лет назад

      Yeah this didn't age very well, but it's still a very di coaster and I don't think the park cares I since they already have wayyyyu better coasters anyway.

    I feel like this is a fallen idol. Just hasn't aged well. Beats the crap out of you. I really think it's due to the cars. They should get new trains that are only 2 x 2 instead of 2 x 3.

    • @zdavidjoke
      @zdavidjoke 9 лет назад +1

      I mean, in a way the fact that it beats the crap out of you is part of the fun... there aren't any Arrows that have really aged well except for maybe Tennessee Tornado or possibly some relocations. It's not only the aging of the materials, but the old shaping mechanics and running stock (as you've pointed out), and I don't really think a 2x2 train is going to make a big difference here. All of the Arrow loopers have 2x2 trains and still beat you silly, though of course the horsecollars don't help there. For me, riding a late-80s (or prior) Arrow has a similar appeal to riding an older woodie. Maybe it shouldn't be like this, but it is.
      That said, I wouldn't necessarily say no to the comfort level being somehow upped a little on Magnum, but I would hate to see those classic trains go in order to accomplish that.
