Cloudy pool water fix

- Cloudy pool water fix. In this video I show you exactly what to do and how to fix a cloudy pool. It’s so easy but you need to know the right product you have to use. It’s amazing how quickly I got my pool looking so crystal clear. There’s two main reasons your pool might be cloudy. One could be that you have a high PH in the water, which clarifier will help. But you could also have a problem with microscopic debris floating in the water, in which you need flocculant.

Super excited about my new Sand Filter, Check it out: ruclips.net/video/2kurASa4ahI/видео.html
I cant vacuum to waste with my current pump, just have an intex battery operated vacuum....what do i do with the stuff on the bottom after i floc if i cant waste the water?
You are very limited if you don’t have a filter with the waste option. Possibly use a long hose and create a siphon.
@@anthonyfortier3924ey there I had replaced my Hayward pump because it stopped working but actually I realized a year later because I didn’t throw it away, that the old pump was still working. So as this guy did in the video I had extra water in the pool, then I had my hoses hooked up to the old pump, had the pump sucking the water out of the pool as I vacuumed and just shot the water out the pump toward a downhill slope into a drain. It worked. I just created my own pool pump that sat outside the pool and I didn’t use the pool pump connected to the entire pool system or filtration system. If you have the hoses and you have the vacuum piece, and you have an additional pump you can do the same thing. My pool is in-ground, huge 32,000 gallon, in the backyard of a home that was built in 1950, and then an addition to the home was added in the 1970’s. I’m not sure how old the pool is itself, but manage it the best I can. This year 2023 I’m repainting it. Always lots to do…
That’s a great idea 👍🏼
This is the only video on RUclips that has helped me after weeks of cloudy pool and visiting the pool shop thank you 🎉
I appreciate that very much
Ive been struggling all week with this same issue! You’re a life saver!! 🙏🏼 😊
Let me know if it works for you 👍🏼
Thank you. Had a wild algae bloom while we were gone on vacation. Shocked it but having trouble clearing the dead algae. Getting flocc today. Thanks for the vid.
Let me know how everything works out
I'm gonna try this first thing tomorrow! Thanks for this video!
bought one it works like a charm
Looks amazing!!!
Thank you for this information!!!I’m attempting this now! Fingers crossed this is what our issue is because I’ve bought way too many chemicals at this point! I’ll be back with an update!
Yes please let me know if it works for you. 👍🏼
This was great! Thanks!
Wow....thank you for this!!!! I can't wait to try this. I'm going out now to get the supplies. I've been so upset about this issue. Can't wait to see it work. I'll keep you posted. 😊
Please give me a update to see if it helped in your situation 👍🏼
Thank you for this video! cloudy pool mystery solved - I am gonna try this right away!
Let me know if it works for you. 👍🏼
Thanks for the video. I believe I have the same issue. I’ll try your method.
Also I have that same ladder I didn’t even have it for a year and it started getting all rusty on the gray metal part. Also your yard looks great!!
My husband and I just put up an above ground pool and we are you tubing a lot of information. Thanks for sharing. I really love tho pool and want to take care of it
Thanks for the comment, I have lots of pool videos let me know if you have any questions 👍🏼
Dude, thank you! First time pool owner and couldn’t figure it out after a week. Of cloudy water and clarifier. Positive this is our issue.
Let me know how it works out.

Thank you for this video. The Flocculant worked and had I not seen your video Leslie's Pool would have just tried to oversell me products.
I love to hear a story like yours, I’m glad the. Idea helped 🙏🏼
Great Video!! Thank you
Thanks for taking the time to do this video.
Thank you for watching it
Phenomenal job ❤
Hey man I just wanna say thanks for the video. It’s well done and it did the trick for my pool. My wife and I tried every chemical combination for cloudy water that google had and nothing worked. I came across this video and we tried it last night. I ran out before leaving for work and there was quite a lot of stuff on the bottom, but I could actually see the bottom.
My wife will be vacuuming it today while I’m work, using our original sand filter (we upgraded to a cartridge filter shortly after getting the pool last year). Anyway, keep up the great work!
That is awesome, I remember how frustrated I was trying to clear mine up. Thank you so much it’s nice to read a comment like this knowing it helped someone.
Vacuum to waste not the filter!
Omg this was life changing for me … I see what I was doing wrong, waste settings, and vacuum slow… got it
Good luck with it remember to vacuum slow
You are the first video that actually gave me a solution thank you so much!
Thank you so much for that comment, thankfully my pool is looking super clear now
Thank you so much!!! I have wasted a ton of money on products!! This is exactly what I’m doing asap!♥️
Let me know if it’s helps, I’d love to here if it works for you
well explained man. i’m about to start my pool maintenance and repair company. this really helped.
Thank you I appreciate that comment, and good luck with your new business
The pool company I use is rubbish. Are there proper courses or training for pool maintenance for those doing it as a business. Serious question. Don’t be like my company, they wouldn’t even teach me basic maintenance. Installed so called repaired pump (found deteriorated lid gasket after ‘repair’), and told us to prime it before use. Didn’t even put it on for us. Be a good pool maintenance person, they seem to be hard to find in my country. Good luck.
Thank you for this video! I was trying to figure out why it wasn't clearing up with the clarifier and my why my ph keeps dropping every time I check. Now I'm rolling my eyes at myself, it should've been obvious but when you're frustrated you really aren't thinking clearly. I can't wait to go home and try this out.
That’s awesome I hope it works for you, Keep me updated after you try it
Thank you so much!! I came back to a green pool after vacation. Overnight shocked it to cloudy a week ago. I cannot clear it up. I am definitely trying the Floc.
Let me know if it works for you 👍
Did it work for you?
You're a really nice dude, great informative video!
I appreciate that comment very much 🙏🏼
Wow, now I know what my issue is in my pool, my debris still goes to the bottom, so I need to get a vacuum for the pool. Thanks man, now I know what the problem is.
Thank you I hope it helped you
Just hooked up my new sand filter today my pool was way too green now its cloudy for sure going to get that drop out asap. Nice quick streight to the point. Let me just say didnt fast forward ⏩ none of the video👍 great job.
I appreciate that very much, let me know how it turns out 👍🏼
I have the same problem with my best way 20x48 above ground pool. It is super cloudy like yours in this video. The filter I have it’s the original it came with. How would I use the Floc?
I’ve had the pool for a month now and I’m not sure how to go by vacuuming first and adding the floc. And how to connect the filters. I understand I would connect the hose to A or B, right? Someone told me to connect it where the water comes out
Is yours a sand filter or cartridge
Omg!! I want to thank you, thanks to your video we were able to restore our pool water!!!
I wanted to post a pic for you to see how well me and my daughter did but it doesn’t let me post
That makes me so happy to hear, we were so frustrated and that’s exactly why I made the video to help someone else 👍
Dealing with a cloudy pool now. I’ll have to try and find that!
God bless brother! Keep up the great work!
Thank you, and God Bless you and your family
Great video, love the pool
Man I’m so happy it worked, pool is even more clear today 👍
Thank u for sharing! 👍
GREAT VIDEO!!!!!! I had a large splash super pool for 15 years zero problems keeping it cleaned, it had a large cartridge filter with a 1.25hp pump. I took it down a few years ago and this year got a Costco Bestway 12'x22' with the sand filter. Having pool knowledge I started this up and treated it like normal, and like you I could not clear up the cloudiness. I went to 2 different local pool shops and they were ZERO help and hardly friendly. You would think being in the pool business for years they could offer some help, I personally have always tried to do local business, yes I know the prices are way more than online, but I have always felt being able to pick their brains for years of knowledge was with the extra costs, sadly they were off-putting.
I installed the Hayward skimmer and did the floc treatment at the same time. The floc worked as you showed, a huge thanks!!!!!! The Hayward skimmer is also way better, my pool is circulating water much better, and the vacuum attachment is better.
Huge thanks again 👍🏻
That is awesome and thank you so much for that comment. I’m loving my Hayward skimmer it works amazingly good

Thanks man that helped 🙏
I just had this problem. I did everything. Got frustrated and drain it. But you did an awesome job my friend. 👍👍
I was just about to the point of draining it until I tried this product and thankfully it worked for me. I appreciate your comment
Thanks a bunch, I have had the same problem and putting in the robot was again clouding the pool, I will do this now putting the pump on waste and crossing my fingers. Putting it on waste is the trick witch I didn’t get, since I’ve been doing the same thing as you but just pumping in the particles again,,, haha. Well, this could actually save the summer. Cheers and again thanks.

Hey what are the specs on that vacuum you are using? I'm sure you like it since it looks like it works really well. I'm about to get a vacuum for my coleman 18ft pool.
Thank you, I'll try this, I'm having the same problem right now. New sub.
Please come back and let me know if it helped.
@@LifeLessOrdinary Will do. Thank you.
Wow it worked. Thank you so much for the video. My in ground pool got mustard algae so I tripled shocks it and the algae went away but then I got the cloudy/milky pool. I tried pool clarifier and nothing happened. I did more searching and got to your video. I put one bottle into my pool (32k gals) and all cleared up next morning. Vacuum the bottom was lots of work.
I’m glad you were able to get it cleaned up 👍🏼
About to be a first time pool owner. Thanks for making this video.
I have a few other videos on pools also, good luck with your pool Hope you have an awesome summer with it
I am 2 an inground pool. A month ago. Turn around, it's fun but a lot of things go wrong and the kids look at you like it's your fault😂
I’ve got a 22’ pool, before that we had an 18’ pool. Usually stayed clear all summer. But if we didn’t keep enough chlorine in it it sometimes when cloudy. We would just throw about 2 gallons of liquid chlorine in there, next day clear as a whistle. We have a 3,000gph sand filter pump too so that’s always nice.
I have a new filter I just installed it’s amazing 3500 gph ruclips.net/video/2kurASa4ahI/видео.html
I have the same 22’ pool and had the 18’ last year. I’m having the exact same issues right now. Never had a problem with my other pool!
Thanks fixed my problem
Awesome
Nice backyard 👍
Thank you very much, I’ve worked hard on it. Three years ago it was a weed infested jungle lol
Thanks
thank you
Looks great! Gotta watch out using floc w a cartridge filter it will harden your cartridge and make it heavy I have 27' 52" round pool have had it 20 yrs and sometimes if you shock then run your filter for couple hours and turn off over night it will settle on the bottom also! Very nice set up you have love it😊
Thank you very much for that comment. I had a cartridge filter pump when I first got my pool then switched over to the sand filter I’m very happy I did.
@@LifeLessOrdinary my cartridges are super tall and big and they can be heavy thinking my next filter system will be sand!
Like I said I love mine. If you ever have any detailed questions shoot me an email 👍 dirtpooroutdoors16@gmail.com
@@LifeLessOrdinary sand cleans at 50-60 microns where crushed glass cleans at under 12 microns. If you were running glass instead of sand. You probably wouldnt have had to use the floc. the glass would have cleared the pool the next day. Just like DE would have.
Clarifier still works if the ph level is stable. All clarifier does is helps small debris particles to bind together and make it large enough for the filter to pick up. It can take the clarifier multiple days to do its job sometimes though and you may need to repeat the process multiple times, but if your in no hurry to get into the pool clarifier is a lot easier.
Amazing!
Are you having the same problem?
@@LifeLessOrdinary Not so far this year, but one year I was about to lose my mind because of it. Fortunately, it was near the end of the season, so I cleaned the pool and took it down til the next summer. It hasn't happened since, but now I know what to do if it does. Thanks so much for putting this up!
That’s great 👍🏼
Thank you so much

@@LifeLessOrdinary will definitely do so
I'm yet to build my pool but looking at these vids for tips. I have a regular cartridge pump filter so not sure how well I'll be able to do this without a 'waste' option. But we will see. Thanks for this!
You can not use floc with a cartridge filter. Floc can be only used with sand filters.
I live in SC where its hot and humid and loads of rain at one time. My pool came with the built in filter return pump which worked great until it got super hot for weeks on end. Save yourself the headache and get a sand filter pump if you have long periods of high temps. The little paper filter pump does great but isn't the best for hot climates and you'll end up with an algae problem sooner or later. Plus you will find a sand filter pump will get you more power for the vac. Well worth a couple hundred more dollars. Make sure to shock weekly or twice a week. When your chlorine levels are low algae will grow.
@@tavaresprovost so whats the alternative if using cartridge filter ive already overspent for a month with still cloudy pool i want 2 use floc but no waste option
Are you dealing with algae?
That’s incorrect you can use floc but you have to take the filter out and use the vacuum adapter for your pool (may have to get separately) then the (out) hose on the filter housing that puts the water back into the pool needs to be disconnect which would create a waste disposal. Just find something to plug the hole in the pool where the water comes back in.
C -clear is the product we use in our pools that we use for training the military,it will clear them very effectively.
Not finding it on Amazon. 😢
Thank you so much for this video!! My pool guy vacuumed dead algae through the filter and now I have a green pool. Chemistry was good but he's persistent with shocking the pool. I'm definitely gonna try the floc approach and avoid a chlorine storm!
Let me know how it works out
@@LifeLessOrdinary this morning, I added two bottles of floc with filter on recirculate for 2 hours. Left it offline for 3 hours and the pool is crystal clear already!!!!! I hope I'm meticulous with the vacuuming not to ruin the sludge blanket on the floor. Thanks again!!!!
I’m glad it worked for you yes take your time and vacuum very slowly
I just purchased! A solar ionizer for less chlorine use and algae
appreciate it :)
I like the deck idea for getting in!!!!
I am curious is the over the pool skimmer able to be used on Intex pools as well?
Absolutely this is a intex pool and the skimmer works just fine. And here is the video on the deck ruclips.net/video/aTb97A2lFV8/видео.html
Best thing to use is the Green to Blue pack from HTH. It’s flocc and shock and it works fast. I tried just the flocc bottle like yours but it didn’t do anything to my pool. And I tried the clarifier too.
OMG thank you for this suggestion! I tried it and it worked for me!!!!! FINALLY!
What is the vacuum setup you have? I'm currently having this same issue.
Run your water hose at the same time you vacuum to waste to not loose too much water. Good video
A pH test could have saved you buying the fix for high pH. If you are conserving water, have a secondary tub/tank to receive your waste water, with a smaller diameter, the vacuumed silt will collect on the bottom, refill the pool from clear water off the top.
Secondary tub for waste. Brilliant idea. I hate running to waste but using the clean water off the top is a good idea . Gracias
Thanks awesome idea
My d e filter needed to be cleaned. Pressure never went up. Cleaned it anyway. Perfect now.
1) check ph, 2) add chlorine 3) add anty algi
Also as soon as you can see bottom of the pool clean from dirt/algi etc.
100% will help
I'm having the same issue, pool supply store employees keep telling me to shock it, I've shocked it twice already and this is driving me nuts because I normally have crystal clear water so I'm gonna try this
I had the same problem before I tried it, kept shocking it but never got better. Let me know if it works for you
@@LifeLessOrdinary will do, I had to order the dropout from amazon, no one within 100 miles of me had it in stock

I can see the bottom! 😂, thanks for the video this worked so well.
That is awesome 👍🏼 thank you for letting me know. It helped I like getting feedback.
As a pool service Co owner, the little extra cost of the flocculent has saved me a ton of time on some stubborn green pool cleanups. When you get to the point of algae dead, water blue, but still cloudy- use the flocc and vac to waste just as he mentions.
I appreciate the comment, you are absolutely correct 👍🏼
I've done everything that he's mentioned. My pool is still cloudy. It's a lot of dusty debris at the bottom of my pool, not as much as it was a week ago. Plz help!!
@@kimberlyglenn2762 Is it white dust? Almost gathers in ripples on bottom like beach sand? It might be over concentration of calcium due to filling with hose water. Just a guess tho. Ive seen this a lot over the years with folks with leaky pools that are filling w hose a lot...
@@niz76 the color looks like dust some is white but mainly dusty
How many days do you need to vacuum to waste. i bought a new house with a pool and My pool was really cloudy. Added the drop out and vacuumed to waste and there was a ton at the bottom the first day now everyday when i come back there’s just a little bit in the bottom and i vacuum to waste again. Going on about day three. Is that normal ?
What kind of pump and vacuum is this and where can I purchase these two?
I like what you have done with the ladder extension cause the ladder that comes with the pool aren't so safe.
Did you build it yourself?
All I did was put it into the deck and secured it 👍
I put ph down in, and it cleared the pool immediately where I threw it in. Thought good, its working. Went out, came home, and pool cloudy again. Grrr! So trying this. I think this is the problem. Thank you. We tried everything else. And nothing worked.
Please let me know if it works for you

Thank you so
Much I’m glad it helped. I have a video with links in it
ruclips.net/video/5wpb5GsXXCc/видео.html
does doing backwash fix it? or using chlore?
I have never had a problem with my water..the occasional cloudiness that a little clarifier. We had just shocked our pool and I added a littler clarifier bc it had rained a few times, well then a flash flood came..rained 2-5 inches in a few hours and my pool is green. We have shocked and used clarifier but I think our automatic vacuum cleaner is some of the problem..I noticed it kicks up a lot of the algae that settles to the bottom..guess I gotta go manual. Thanks for the video!
I had a similar vacuum a few years ago and the same thing happened. 👍
What pool vacuum is that?
Your whole pool setup with the pvc pipes is a great idea. I will be sure to look up your video about it.
Thanks I love the pvc plumb it works great. Also I put a link to the vacuum in my description
@@LifeLessOrdinary Great! Thank you.
I got to the point where it was clear until I tried vacuuming and kicked it up again. I see it requires patience. Thanks
Yeah you’re right it takes a ton of patients I had to go super slow
When I started using granulated floc years ago, another pool owner advised me to remove the vacuum head, and just to tape the hose on slightly past the sharp edge of the pole. I've never used the brush head since, even during the course of regular vacuuming. For some reason it ups the suction power, and this method picks up a much wider area of the floc debris, or anything else....really quickly so less patience and time is required.
Thank you for this. Also, where did you ge the vacuum from? I need a really good one
I believe I have the vacuum linked in the description of this video

I get my kids to run around the pool to create a whirlpool, then make them get out for 10 minutes and all the dust and debris gathers in the middle of the pool in one pile ,quick vacuum, job done.
Yes that works with regular debris in a pool but not cloudy microscopic debris. Yes I have my kids do that also
We’ve got a full size pool or I’d try that too.
Can this be used for saltwater pools?
What brand portable skimmer and pool vac do you use? I have an intex as well.
The skimmer is made by InTex, I can’t remember the brand name of the vacuum but I put a link in the description
Thanks for the video! What size pool do you have?
It’s a 18’ x 52” I love it
I really like your stair system. Did you build it yourself? How much did it cost you? I have the exact same pool as you.
I sure did and I’m so happy I did it. It’s really hard to say prices where much better then because I built it right before Covid when the prices were still good. I might do a video in a few weeks on how I did it even after it’s done because I do get a lot of comments about it.
@@LifeLessOrdinary I’d really like to see the video how you built it as well!
Thanks for this video! First time having cloudy water. Probably because we left it uncovered and had to start with cleaning a green, swampy pool! Waiting for the lizard man to pop out of that mess! Our pool is 27 round and it’s very hard to reach but so far and clean from the deck and keep the brush on the floor to move slow. I’ve even used a ladder to try and reach the where there’s no pool deck and still having trouble. Would my robot work or you think it will stir up too much?
I wouldn’t use the robot I bet it would stir so much of it back up
The intex pool filters are usually not strong enough, a DE filter is best, see those chemicals your adding, less is more, I never ever put anything in my pool except for chlorine, PH up, on start-up & once weekly add Green Out. Always add a little extra chlorine to keep the algae out, I don’t have algae ever. ( my 90 year old uncle taught me this)
First get your PH up to 7.0 , I throw in two bags “green out” or other algaecide, ( my pool is 24’ round 15,000 gal water) add two 3” chlorine long lasting tabs, and turn on my DE filter ( my experience get a DE filter, the one with NO cartridges, it has a million fingers inside, leave filter on overnight, do a backwash , add clean DE (2 cups) the pool is crystal clear !!!
the perflex filter you speak of is junk. after a few years, your pressure will spike constantly. the fingers you love get clogged and need to be soaked in Bear Strip in order to bring them back. I tell all my customers just to get a sand filter and put crushed glass in it. Sand cleans at 50-60 microns and needs to be replaced every 5-6 years, where crushed glass cleans below 12 microns and is a lifetime in the filter. DE cleans at under 11 microns and you have to refill every time you clean out.
@@powerlocks Of course thats your opinion, but, to me, thats not true, I have my DE filter for over 12 years, never a problem and never changed the fingers, just keep it clean, The motor is 1.5 horsepower so, its pretty powerful, i did however, have to buy a new motor I think after 10yrs. And yes, I do refill with fresh DE (2cups) every time I backwash and clean out, i like doing that, i feel like everything is fresh and clean that way, but, i swear, Its the only filter that has ever worked for me, my water looks like there are 💎 diamonds sparkling on top…
