  • Hi everyone!
    This is the second video of the series about repairing your lathe/milling machine's motor.
    In this video, I show how to adapt a new commutator, thus avoiding the need to rewire the rotor.
    I have done this on my machines, and they have been running great for years.
    As always, if you have any questions, I will be glad to help you.

    Your craftsmanship has no bounds. That motor work should cost 1000+ dollars for the detail and precision.

    It's a joy watching you repair that motor, unfortunate about Brazilian import issues but it sure has made you skilled craftsman!

      Hi my friend, thank you for watching and comment about that.
      That's right, a tremendous difficulty to import things here, but surely this has a good side, that's why I share, I imagine other people going through the same problem with parts etc..
      Greetings from Brazil.

    sherline shipping to europe is also very expensive. typically ~300 eur extra for shipping here... sherline use only 1-2 day express services around the world. after some emails, i can use now "dhl standard" (for 200 eur). maybee this helps a little. thanks for your video. best regards

      Like Here, you know, in Brazil every international purchase has a price increase of about 80%, taxes, shipping, and even in some cases 100% more with fines for price difference, my country is crazy.
      Thanks for watching and your comment.

    This is quite an amazing repair. But for someone who started in Electronics that was a horrible Soldering Iron Tip. Can’t you buy new Tips in Brazil?

      Well observed by you, yes, I have new tip for the soldering iron, but I forgot to change them in my eagerness to show the result.
      Thank you for watching the video.

    Luiz, em 23:08 você fala a respeito do balanceamento do rotor. Como isso é feito? Você tem algum vídeo pra indicar sobre este assunto?

    • @tryally
      @tryally  2 года назад +1

      Lori, o balanceamento do rotor é importantíssimo, evitando vibrações que tiram a vida útil dos rolamentos do motor, desgastes prematuro de escovas, e em alguns casos mal contato do enrolamento além de ser desconfortável usar quando vibra. Todas oficinas de reparo de motor tem máquinas de balanceamento e é feito de forma simples e precisa, uns removem peso tirando material e outros adicionam, nos dois casos o resultado sempre é alcançado.

    Where did you get the new commutator and what size is it

  • @strtcop

    Very Nice, Where did you buy the commutater and what is the part number

    • @tryally
      @tryally  Год назад

      Hi Ron, thank you, so, in Brazil has some factories of these Dc motor collectors, (commutater). It does not have a specific part number. The important thing is to have 16 blades and a compatible diameter.

    Soldering is not so good idea. It can be easily desolder by heat and inercia.

      I have working for 3 years other two like that here and more 3 for friends, until now no had problem. The soldering is only to ensure electrical contact, you should note that before soldering I pinned the contacts together with the original ones by hammering.
