If you’re stuck on hydrangeas, I would suggest getting a smaller sized panicle or an oak leaf variety. The big lead hydrangeas that you have are very sensitive to light, they only want dappled lighting, and can’t take full sun.
Hello Michelle, looking good, mushroom soil is the best garden tip I have for you, we’ve had a garden for 24 years plus gardens growing up in the ‘70’s. Have a great week.😊
Looks beautiful!! Hydrangeas are my favorite!!!! My daughter got me one for Mother’s Day because of how much I love them and it’s doin well and thriving on our enclosed porch in Kansas! I do think the tip to turn the good side of the plant or tree to face you is a great tip, I honestly wouldn’t have thought about it since I don’t do landscaping!
I have lots of established hydrangeas; endless summer, summer crush limelight, firelight…I also have lots of trees throughout so the front yard gets morning sun whereas the backyard gets afternoon sun. The trees do provide some dappled shade on one of the endless Summers that is 15 foot wide and 6 foot tall and at least 30 years old. It get pruned in early spring every year and all the dead or weak branches out from the centers; they like good airflow. Another note is the snails love them. I’m in zone 8b PNW: I have 4 true seasons lots of rain, some snow and droughts in the summer. Don’t be quick to replace the hydrangeas maybe a shade netting and keeping watered until established, once they are established you’ll be rewarded every summer with beautiful blooms. Just thought I would also mention is taking one of the lower branches and pinning it under the soil and by next year you will have a new hydrangea. This method is known as air layering. Happy gardening!
The landscaping turned out beautifully Michelle! My only concern was the hydrangeas because they tend to like shade. I think there are some white blooming ones that can handle more sun. That was a lot of hard work for you and your husband and it really paid off. I am so happy for you and your family that you tube helped your husband to stop his corporate job and make his landscaping business full time. 😊❤😊🌼🌸🌻
I’ve been waiting on a project like this from you Michelle,I guess my expectations were too high. Really happy you read my mind and I enjoyed this video sooo much.Your husband did an amazing job ❤!!
I love the way everything turned out. You are the absolute best at DIY projects🙌🏾. Your husband did a fantastic job, and I’m so happy that he was able to quit his corporate job so that he can do what he loves full time. I’m truly inspired by all that you’ve been able to do with your channel in such a short amount of time.
Looks amazing!! I actually just bought some calla lilies. I live in western Pennsylvania. They get about 6 hours of sun, i water them daily (they are under an awning type thing off our front porch and get no rain) and I think they are gorgeous, they are my favorite. Little pop of color but makes a big impact. Thanks for sharing!
If you can put something over hydrangeas to shade them until your trees grow a little more they will probably be fine . That type needs some shade . If not get the little limes or Bo Bo’s that take more sun .😊
It looks beautiful!! Hydrangeas are hard, they like more shady areas. Also I learned that they actually drink water from the petals so spray them from above as opposed to the base.
Hey Michelle, Happy Friday. I love your landscaping designs and the projects you have done outside. ❤ I’m so glad you decided to create a RUclips channel and replace some of your husband’s income from the corporation job with RUclips. I’m glad your husband was able to start his landscaping dream and it sounds like a lot of people need help with landscaping during the summer. ❤🥰your garden is beautiful I love it, you and your husband did an amazing job. ❤ I’m glad that you did a little updating with your garden and how it’s looking now. I’m not sure what my favorite plant would be maybe the hydrangeas.
Michelle make sure you put a little bit of cow manure in with the hydrangeas. Also your soil will tell what color they turn depending on how acidic your soil is.❤
Your backyard looks beautiful! I love to garden but I'm not Especially good at it, ( mostly my plants survive and some even thrive)! I love to watch outdoor projects and gardening tips, thanks alot!
Landscape looks great... I love the trees! If the ferns are foxtail, I'm not sure if you know, they can be deadly for dogs. I didn't know until we started planting in our new yard.
Te yard turned out beautifully and TY for the tips!! I have a flowerbed in the front of my house that I covered in mulch after my bushes died. I'm looking for something low maintenance but complimentary... Have a wonderful weekend Suga
Love the willow trees! Suggestion in replacing the hydrangeas with hibiscus, salvia or coleus. They thrive in sun and come in many different varieties. They also work well in Zone 9a and 9b (Your TEXANS sign gave it away 😉) which is my zone also. The humidity and sun isn't kind to most hydrangeas. Can't wait to see every thing come together in a few months.
Looks good, just put the hydrangeas in a morning sun afternoon shade place and that should work better for you. For nice pops of color to replace the hydrangeas, consider carpet roses, really easy to care for and has color 3/4 seasons.
Hi Michelle Hydrangeas need heaps of water I would cut the dead flowers off and water more. The flowers are dropping because of dryness. I have mine in full sun and I water early morning and if it’s been a super hot day again in the afternoon
Michelle love this types of videos you make 👍🏼❤️ and about hydrangeas I had same issue when I just planned mine but I didn’t remove them and next year they all came back strong
Did you install water drips for all the plants ? Everything you planted looks beautiful !! My fav are the colorful tall flower ones ! I need to do some planting in the front and backyard. My husband just passed away and he was the one who did all the planting. I haven't a clue how to do this lol ! I do have a Gardner and maybe if I go buy the plants he can plant them. Where do you get pictures of plant designs ? Also do you know if putting in water drips is expensive ? I just love your channel ! I have learned so much from you. You inspire me so much 💖
Yeah Pennsylvania and I do 30 gardens at memorial Park I've been doing 18 20 years with my own money and it's so beautiful out there and everybody just loves it so I like your little your project you did it looks really really good it looks good my phone keeps going off so I'll talk to you later thank you
Looks beautiful! So much work you both did from planning and research to the final hole dug! Hydrangeas are beautiful but they can get very very big. Mine is huge and it’s also in sun most of the day so I don’t know🤷♀️ It was there when we bought the house.
Looks awesome if you took out the hydrangeas you could’ve put them in pots and put them in more than shady area and they would’ve thrived again minor in pots and I’ve had them for six years. They love coffee.
I know that’s what he does, but it’s a lot of work. I love my flowers also. Everything look so good. Make sure you take a picture. If there is a frost, some of the plants will die.
The hydrangeas burnt from too much sun. These varieties like part shade. Try planting a panicle type variety that likes the heat. They have large and small varieties
First time seeing your channel . Your garden looks beautiful. I love your trees. I was wondering how big will they get? And did you take that into consideration when planting them so close to the brick wall? Will that be a problem if they get huge? Thank you for sharing your video.
I love your yard it is beautiful but one thing about the hydrangeas they don’t like full sun. I had mine to die twice until I realize my neighbor told me it doesn’t like direct sun, so if that area gets direct sun like afternoon sun like between noon and three that’s the hottest time of the day and if the sun is shining directly over there, it’s gonna burn them up so I had to move them into a partial sun area.
And hosta if you have any hostas in your yard, they are the same way hostas do not like direct daylight partial son so if you ever think about putting hospice, but they do not like direct hot sun
If it is garden hydrangeas, they Will come again next year if the are not fully dead. You have to Cut of the dead flowers before winter/next spring and the Will come back with new flowers 🤗
That’s so awesome you replaced his income with RUclips! Isn’t that wild! How long into when you started RUclips do you think it took to replace his income?id love to start a channel. Love watching your videos ! Have a good week!
Don't feel bad about the hydraengas. They are very hard to grow. All of mine died and I was really mad because they were $25 a piece. Everything else you planted looks great. They are all hardy plants. I think the trees will do well.
Might have been the wrong lighting for where you placed them! If it’s full sun that’s probably it if you planted macrophyla. Consider paniculata type hydrangeas if it’s a sunny area
Whenever I cut off those dead leaves just like you did, I always find them completely dead after a while 😇 I have some unexplainable issues to keep them alive
You both did a great job, however I’m very concerned that the trees are planted to close to the brick wall. Brick gets really hot and you didn’t give them much room to expand with age. Thank you for sharing your video.
I hope you all enjoy today's video and have a great weekend!
I didn't know how amazing Chris is! Stay productive ✨
If you’re stuck on hydrangeas, I would suggest getting a smaller sized panicle or an oak leaf variety. The big lead hydrangeas that you have are very sensitive to light, they only want dappled lighting, and can’t take full sun.

That plant growing looks like a squash of some sort. Looks like my honey nut squash I have in our garden right now.

Thanks so much!
If you can put something over hydrangeas to shade them until your trees grow a little more they will probably be fine . That type needs some shade . If not get the little limes or Bo Bo’s that take more sun .😊
Yes it was a zucchini plant. Where the flowers were there were little baby zucchinis growing. Looks like it was a lot of work that was so worth it.
That’s what we thought! ☺️
Great video Michelle thanks for the tips and motivation. You and Chris did a fantastic job 😊
Hydrangeas need extra water when in full sun! You can trim the dead blooms off, they may be fine! Love the Agapanthus!
Good to know! Thanks Jackie!
Love it!!! Those tri color willow trees are such a statement along the brick. Hydrangeas are my favorite!!!
Thanks!! ☺️
It looks beautiful!! Hydrangeas are hard, they like more shady areas. Also I learned that they actually drink water from the petals so spray them from above as opposed to the base.
That’s interesting! I never knew that!
I love those willow trees!! The whole landscape is just gorgeous! You have great taste Michelle! Be Blessed
Thanks Denise!!

I didn’t know foxtail fern is poisonous to dog. I have one plant in my backyard. Luckily my dog didn’t try to eat it. 😮
Beautiful

Moro no sul do Brasil numa região que faz bastante frio, e aqui tem muitas hortênsias, porque elas gostam do frio 😊❤
Mas ficou lindo seu jardim 😍
Looks beautiful! So much work you both did from planning and research to the final hole dug!
Hydrangeas are beautiful but they can get very very big. Mine is huge and it’s also in sun most of the day so I don’t know🤷♀️ It was there when we bought the house.
Really? I was thinking maybe ours were getting too much sun. We are going to adjust the sprinkler and see if it helps
Hopefully you are happy with the results of your planting
Hi M🌺🦋💐great work
Thanks Karen!!
I love it all! I enjoy Hydrangeas also but have terrible luck growing them. Good luck with them and if you succeed let us know your secret ❤
Thanks Patty! They are so beautiful just might need some more shade!
Looks awesome if you took out the hydrangeas you could’ve put them in pots and put them in more than shady area and they would’ve thrived again minor in pots and I’ve had them for six years. They love coffee.
They are hanging on a little but might need to do that!

Any updates on your plants in your backyard??? Can you do an update garden videos for 2024???? & your vegetable garden?

Tri color willow 8-10 feet tall

Just wondering how thick the trunks of the trees will become and how the root system will impact the wall being planted that close?
And hosta if you have any hostas in your yard, they are the same way hostas do not like direct daylight partial son so if you ever think about putting hospice, but they do not like direct hot sun

💓💓
That’s so awesome you replaced his income with RUclips! Isn’t that wild! How long into when you started RUclips do you think it took to replace his income?id love to start a channel. Love watching your videos ! Have a good week!
Thanks! We made the decision last year. I was a little more than a year and half into doing RUclips!
@@MichelleOMalley711 pretty amazing 😁👏👏
Where did you purchase your flamingos tree? So beautiful
They are linked in the description and it’s called Fastgrowingtrees.com

Squash plant
Whenever I cut off those dead leaves just like you did, I always find them completely dead after a while 😇 I have some unexplainable issues to keep them alive
That’s interesting! We’ve always done that
😊💓
Keep the dead blooms off the hydrangeas. They will continue to bloom but the dead blooms have to be cut off.
You both did a great job, however I’m very concerned that the trees are planted to close to the brick wall. Brick gets really hot and you didn’t give them much room to expand with age. Thank you for sharing your video.
Our tress died unfortunately 😭
Hello!! What is the name the tree? The white flowers.
Where did you order plants from again
Why not use an auger for the holes?
Where are you located in TX?
Looks like spaghetti squash, or some type of squash not zucchini. Zucchini’s don’t grow on vines. 😊
