Same… 11 years now. Fentanyl wasn’t everywhere or even a thing when I quit OxyContins… it’s so much more dangerous now. These stories remind me how had I not quit… this could’ve been me. Heck it could’ve been me just with the amounts I was taking without Fety being introduced

Thank you for your brutal honesty. I have lost my 19 yr old stepson Sullivan (Sully) to this and now my almost 24 yr old son Geno has struggled with addiction. Geno just got out of rehab. I don't understand why this is being treated as a Weapon of Mass Destruction!!! They did NOTHING for Sullivan. The stigma and shame keep so many families from talking about this which only makes the problem worse. God Bless you and I am so very sorry for your profound loss and the way you were informed (very late) and treated by the police department. God Bless you. You are a wonderful father. It sadly seems that unless the parents are influential or millionaires, there is no Justice to be had. God will give us that Justice one day. Nichole was beautiful and she reminds me of my son and she will be remembered.

Mr. Zimmerman, firstly I'm so sorry for your loss... I am a 36 yr old woman that suffered through substance use disorder from the age of 18-28 & hearing your testimony of your daughters life and death brought me to tears because it opened my eyes so much more to what I put my own father through and the fact that I very well could've not made it out alive 💔 my father loved me so dearly just as you loved Nichole & I can tell you that when you said if this story can touch just one person it makes a difference you're so right... it makes a huge impact on so many of us who are actively suffering as well as those of us who have made it out alive, it's a reminder of what a gift this life is and the huge pain substance use disorder causes to not only us but everyone around us 🙏🏼🤍 sending you prayers for peace and comfort in your grief, thank you for sharing your experience with fentanyl poisoning

Dear Mr. Zimmerman: Thank you for sharing your story. My son was 28 and died from fentanyl in Lake Worth, FL, Palm Beach County, in a filthy sober home that he was sent to by his rehab program. It was just a flop house. My son graduated from college with a chemistry degree. The police lied and said nothing was found at the scene. They threw out everything. However, I got the 60 crime scene photos which depicted the drug and the paraphernalia. They refused to investigate. I looked in his phone and found the number of the last person he talked to at 3 a.m. that day. An hour before he died. Obviously that was the dealer. I was able to find out his name and gave it to the police. They refused to return my calls or question the person. I know who it is and where he lives. Palm Beach county officials are useless. I wrote to the atty general Pam Biondi, but got no response. In NJ where we live the police and prosecutors vigorously investigate and prosecute such crimes, but unfortunately, we sent our son to FL. We had no idea of the situation down there. I am sorry for your loss and the trouble you are having now with the litigation about your grandson. Your pictures should be useful in court as well as your advocacy. Our government is useless and all the greedy politicians. We may as well live in a third world country. So much corruption.

      I am 56, an 80s kid.
Remembering the drugs we had back then thinking nothing could be as dangerous as heroine, acid or pcp.
I wasn’t a user, I never tried anything except once someone asked if I wanted something called “locker room”, it just made you dizzy for a minute. That was my one and only time I got curious. A beer every now and then for me was ok, I didn’t like how I felt the next day though. my brother was and still is an addict, it tore my family apart.
I never thought for a moment that there would be a drug so lethal and nasty as fentanyl, never.
I wish there was a magic wand to get rid of it. What’s happening to our kids is horrible and sad.

Christopher, I’m 10 years older than Nichole but there’s some striking similarities between our stories, so this one hit me hard. I’ve watched all of these Fentanyl series stories as a reminder that I have to keep fighting. My son was born only one month after Nichole’s.
It is not fair that fentanyl is in the modern drug supply, I probably would have passed as a young adult if I was Nichole’s age. I know the government moves slowly and with no regard for the power they have and could have. I’ve worked in local government, I hate the cop attitude that if the DA won’t file charges , why bother investigating. They need to understand that they are at work 40 hours a week whether the DA files charges or not. The management/administration needs an attitude adjustment because reaching leadership is the only way that agency culture is changed. I hope that by the time my son and your grandson hit puberty that drug-induced homicide laws will be on the books in every state, and that PDs will be taking this very seriously. All lives are important. Keep fighting and so will I. You are making a difference. Fentanyl victims will be what MADD was in the 90s. God bless

There's no such thing as having drugs "under control". I've seen so many of these videos and a few of these families have to let their loved one who they've lost have some accountability. Although someone may have sold them fentanyl, a lot of these kids were already indulging in drugs.

He's so precious. Condolences for the loss of the parents. They must have both been depressed. The holidays play with people's minds. It's a depressing time for many. May God love and keep them both...including that little baby. May he go to the very best home within the family and have love and a solid upbringing.

    Christopher,
Thank you for sharing Nicole's story, and yours. Nicole's life is important, even though it may not seem that way due to how the police handled her poisoning. I know it must be extremely frustrating, not having any justice for your daughter. I'm a parent too, and I can't even imagine the heartache of losing a child, and knowing she was murdered, and the police won't even investigate. It is the stigma around drug use and addiction that continues to interfere with people getting the treatment they need when they are addicted, and the justice they deserve if they die from Fentanyl poisoning. It's insane to me how in the society we live in today, we are pushed to accept so many things, but seeing addicts as people that are sick and need help isn't one of them. No one ever says they want to be an addict. Even if you are an occasional user, you don't use to die. I was an addict for around 10 years, and my addiction started with prescription pain pills that were prescribed to me. I have 6 years clean now. I feel for you, and I truly hope things start to change. With all my love ❤❤

That’s what I was thinking. Where was the baby this whole time? Was he at a babysitter’s house? They surely wouldn’t do drugs with the baby there would they? And as new parents wouldn’t they consider the possibility of fentanyl being mixed with whatever drug they were taking? So sad such a beautiful baby boy to lose both parents and especially at such a young age.

I appreciate hearing the background about what lead the victims down their path of experimentation and use. I hope any parent that is in the separation process or newly separated can also take from this how important it is to give the children of divorce the chance to process and grieve the loss of their family unit as they knew it and really prioritize giving them extra attention and time before beginning a new relationship. Psychologists recommend 1 year before introducing a new partner and go SLOW, watching for signs of acting out or changes in behavior that indicate the child needs more time. Most at the time don’t understand how important this is for the child. Such a tragedy is not a parent “fault” but possibly something that handled differently could have made a difference how the child was impacted by that trauma.

This was the most horrific story I have ever heard! Terribly sad that two young people were taken together! So sad, and such a brave father for being able to share your beautiful daughter's story. Its just too dangerous to dabble with drugs, with fentanyl added to almost anything. The dealers/cartels do this because they know how addictive fentanyl/opiates are, and its all about profit. They dont care how many loved ones are lost along the way, absolutely devastating family after family. I too regret all the anguish I put my parents through, trying to understand why these drugs had such a hold over me. Drugs rewire your brain, and make you think that you need them to function on a daily basis. Kids, its not worth trying that first pill or powder. The only thing you are missing is an incredible struggle ahead of you, to get your life back. And in many cases like this, there is no coming back at all. People that use drugs are idiots, and not your friends. They are miserable and want to pull you in to this life, like its exciting and glamorous. It is not. Please, just say no, and walk away.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

But I do have a question: Where was the baby when the parents were discovered? Please don’t tell me that they passed away and their baby was in the room with them… 😳😔
Tbh there should be an agency nationwide investigating, like the FBI or DEA, but only specifically targeting the Fentanyl cases which weren’t investigated or prosecuted.
Yes, the DEA should do that but I bet they wouldn’t like the idea and saying stuff like „We don’t have enough people for that“… 🤷🏻‍♂️ And I have an answer for that: „Then hire people“ 🤬

It will take years of court proceedings to determine who will gain permanent custody. It’s usually the maternal grandmother unless another family member has more money for attorney fees to fight it. Just terrible.

I really feel so sad about how easy these deaths are minimised and downgraded to an overdose. It is no wonder parents have such complex grief. I can't even imagine the pain of such a lack of a comprehensive investigation. So sorry for your loss and I hope you get to have regular visitation with your special grandson ❤

Sad as Shiet!!! My daughter's have to deal with Dad gone, trust me me doing everything alone is never easy! My youngest was 3 years old when her father offed himself in our kitchen. I know that is blunt but you can't sugarcoat it.
Imagine taking your youngest to the grave every holiday. Hey Mom, etc ... Now you got to sit here and paint the picture of what her father was. Stop it truly breaks my heart but nothing I can't control, it took me a long time to forgive him but I had to to move on. My daughter's keep me alive literally. And I will never love another man again. I choose that.

I’m confused. When the ex-wife’s relative called to tell him, certainly he immediately called his ex-wife to get more info????!

May i first say I'm so very sorry for your loss.I lost my second daughter March 27 2022 to FENTYNAL POISONING i sure feel you're pain. You are right about NO ONE in the Justice System cares about this so many have died because of this POISON. I often wonder how a Senator or a higher level up politician would feel or do if one of they're own became a statistic FENTYNAL POISONING doesn't discriminate this could happen to anyone.May you find peace during you're grieving i know my daughter's death changed me for the rest of my life. Feeling Broken 😢💔
