The editing in this trailer, if i may call it that, is extremely well done. It perfectly captures the tone of the film while not giving away the entire film.
Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, and Platoon, three classic war movies about the Vietnam war, with a different feel to each of them. They don't make them like that any more.
This movie is so brilliant. There isn't much 'thrill' to it like a lot of modern films often have. It's very much a straight forward showing of human nature during war and it's very uncomfortable. It's very much shot like a documentary and the ending really makes you feel that single gun shot. This film takes something from you by the end of it.
For an antiwar movie, it kinda does the exact opposite job. Ive seen many people like this movie for the opposite reason, they are attracted to its violent war scenes.
@@Trgn It's so weird to me, a movie where the entire premise is "war is bad, it will change you for the worse, do not join up" has some people drooling over the idea of going to war, so much so that the Marine corps has used it as a recruiting tool in modern times. Kubrick must be rolling in his grave.

I never saw this movie, but this trailer seemed excellent to me. I love that it tells a lot and at the same time does not spoils the story, for a trailer it is quite long, it lasts about 5 minutes, apparently the movie is dense and plays a lot with that "crazy brain wash routine". you also feel the hate, violence and fear of the characters, this trailer convinced me to see it
Congratulations to the guy who made this trailer. Have seen this movie dozen of times but this trailer summarises all the movie without giving away to much. And the goosebumps dude, the goosebumps...
I was born 12/31/1959 at Beaufort Naval Hospital, Beaufort, SC, just a few miles down road from Parris Island, while My late Dad was serving as D.I. on The Island. He retired in '67 as E-8/First Sergeant, after 22 years in USMC. He loved The Corps.

One of the first major dehumanizing movies of my time. Thanks for that. Undermine people having mental breakdowns for being dehumanized. Get killed by said person having a mental breakdown. Sure does look like 2022 in a movie.
I commend Warner Bros for bringing this movie back into the limelight. Such a raw film with so much content that just would not fly in today's society, and yet they still embrace this amazing film they've made. I absolutely love it.
I was lucky enough to see it in theatre. It was a very potent and emotionally jarring experience. Gunnery Seargent Hartman lives in my head ever since watching the movie; he helps me find motivation when I need a little shove in the right direction.
I thought the whole movie was in the boot camp, so I was surprised to see scenes that took place during the actual war. One thing I love about the war scenes is the colors and lighting. Something about it just clicks with me, and it’s a great contrast to the muted colors in the boot camp. One things for sure: I gotta watch this movie.
If you love FMJ, I STRONGLY recommend watching The Boys in Company C. It is a 1978 movie with a Marine Corps boot camp to Vietnam storyline as it is also based on The Short Timers by Gustav Hasford. R. Lee Ermey plays a drill instructor in this movie in his first role, before Apocalypse Now.
I don’t consider FMJ a war film at all. It’s a psychological film with a much deeper meaning than boot camp and Vietnam. Another Kubrick masterpiece indeed.
Who is the editor of this video and is there any more movie mashups made by him on youtube? The pacing and sound design in this trailer really blows my mind.

Chernobyl happened during the shooting of Full Metal Jacket. I can almost see the fallout now.
They must have imported palm trees. The movie does have the grimy, grey, look of England.
