I noticed your green boost button was lit for a while, but went out. It didn't look like you used it though. Does it just fade after a while off unuse? You have any tips for building out up and using it, or do you typically avoid it?

Just went to double check but I used the boosts to climb the hill.
On a hotlap, I like using the boost to climbing uphill faster. I tend to save it for then only if I know I have enough space to have a clean lap. Otherwise, I use it for overtaking if I have to but arrive-and-drive usually doesn't take into account for track position (only laptime).

why was the power cut at 2:18

It was probably a yellow flag due to someone else crashing in the race! The workers usually have remote controls that can throttle power for certain sectors of the track to enforce a flag and for safety reasons.
