@@FredoRockwell we don't need the EU. We don't even need the UN. The UN is basically the US so what difference does it make ? Most of you westerners don't know anything about the suffering your gov'ts bring on the people. It's rare to see one like you who understands and I appreciate. Most Americans get obese by the day , feeding on the petrodollar. Where does it come from ? Blood in Syria and Iraq. Afghanistan was a farce. The west is losing face. Propaganda has been raised to combat the situation in Ukraine , to give morale to "freedom fighters". The west may win now but they'll come to meet their demise even in eons. I'm a maoist.
Coming here I had no plans commenting but when I read these things I get angrier. Russia has stood up against the imperialist ambitions of the West. And now she's called mother aggressor. Cameroonian here. To my brother , please forget about the imaginary nation. That's what we all wanted but things have changed. The west can't support any separatist movement so long as it doesn't suit them. Self-determination is nothing more than a combination of words. We're in this situation today because of the West and their blatant policies. I understand mistakes of the past can't be reckoned with but there's always a way to fix the present problems brought by the past. Ambazonia is a euphoric nation. It can only exist in our minds. The French know what they'll be losing in Cameroon if they let us go. And also even if we become independent today it won't change anything. Megalomaniacs will always be there , and corruption is inherent in our hearts. I know where I come from and I can't trust my people. Africans will always be the way they are. We'll remain like this if we don't rally up and fight the west. The larger problem is the West and not even the gov't. In this case , France particularly and the US. Nothing can be done about it and matters like this are best murmured.
And thanks to the RUclipsr for covering this.

If you’re curious more on Cameroon and why there is so much tension I’d really recommend reading the Anglophone Cameroon predicament by Mufor Atanga. It goes over how the different colonial policies of the British and French created so much tension, the role France plays in upholding the current authoritarian structure of Cameroon and the failure of anglophone leadership to effective fight back against frenchification. It was created before the protests and violence in 2016 but it still is a great source for understanding the underlaying reasons for the conflict

I must admit, I found this difficult to do! But I still hope to continue making longer vdeos as well and I'd love to do a deeper dive into the Anglophone Crisis. Thanks for the tip on a good source!

Ambazonia reminds me of the republic of somaliland who gained independence from british empire and chose to merge with italian somalia as equal partners and the hope of greater somalia which french somaliland today known as Djibouti, NFD which today is part of kenya(british handed that region to kenya) and the somali state of Ethiopia (which the European powers handed that region to ethiopia) but that dream of our forefathers never happened and it was a big mistake when somaliland chose to merge with somalia in 1960 as somalia down graded somaliland to 'just another region' in the country and the people of were marginalised and fought against the brutal regime in 1980s. Djibouti saw how marginalised were the people of somaliland so they chose to be independent after france granted them their independence wise move. The republic of somaliland was independent for 5 days 1960 and recognised by 35 countries at the time including the u.s before they wrongly merged with italian somalia who recieved their independence 5 days later.

The republic of somaliland declared independence from somalia on the 18th of may 1991 after the dictator was ousted. Today the republic of somaliland is a de facto state with their own military, currency, passport, institutions and parliament with a democratically elected president. The republic of somaliland has a diplomatic relationship with many countries but no country has fully recognised it instead countries like uk is the only western country that has a permanent office in the capital city hargeisa and other regional countries like ethiopia, kenya, Djibouti and the UAE has represented offices aka cosy embassies and they accept somaliland passport etc etc. The u.s started to have a relationship with the republic of somaliland recently due to somaliland strategic location and the republic of somaliland is the only country in the region that refused China's money but instead formed a diplomatic relationship with taiwan. Taiwan will help the republic of somaliland on how to navigate without international recognition and U.N seat so far theu opened many doors for somaliland like the u.s congress (both the house and senate) and is always helping the country in many ways like technology and agriculture. You give a man a fish, he will eat for a day but you teach a man how to fish, he will eat forever so Taiwan's policy is not aid and they don't have the billions of china but they will teach you many things. Who wouldn't like his country to have what Taiwan has? In term of economy, technology and the standard of life.

And did the Republic of cameroon treat the southern Cameroon any different from the treatment the northern cameroons received after opting to join the independent Republic of nigeria ?,... then we can begin to look for appropriate solutions .....
If they were equals , 2 dependents states or even equal entities as some try to claim , the UN would have surely negotiated the terms of independence without questions with them as it did with Samoa or some smaller nations ....
It's sad to hear some want it to remain broken nations as of 1919 even against the wishes of those who brake it in the first place...
( I believe it was broken for one part to be attached to nigeria and the other to be cameroon . no one ever planned to make 3 countries out of 2 in that region . So the indiginous just like in 1961 were asked to join one of the two countries , and a hand full today dream to do what others did in 1955 , walking away from Nigeria/ British administration unfortunately it was an international community project to divide cameroon in 1919 in the first place not theirs ).....

I'm sure there were problems there too, but that doesn't justify Cameroon's treatment of the Southern Cameroons (this would be a "whataboutism" type of argument). What matters is that the Cameroonian government is oppressive and undemocratic, and that it mistreats its people. Arguably, it mistreats the citizens of the Southern Cameroons more. If Cameroon was free and democratic, I'd still think any independence movement was interesting, but I'd think it was a bad idea. If Cameroon cannot even provide basic democratic rights to its people though, than all Cameroonians (in Southern Cameroons or otherwise) should be free to seek alternative arrangements peacefully.

There is widespread ignorance about important conflicts around the world, and like the anglophone crisis, many of these involve tragic loss of life among civilians. I blame the media mostly. They tend to want to report about conflicts people are already familiar with rather than educate the public about new issues. I don't think reporting about Gaza is a problem, but I'm aware that in the US there are many days where there's more reporting about protests about Gaza than what's happening in Gaza itself. Now u tell me why South Africa is so involved in middle eastern affairs and also African leaders visiting Russia and Ukraine to mediate Putin’s genocide , without even mentioning what’s happening in the African continent. The war in Sudan is so bad that an eyewitness saw dogs feeding on human corpses in the streets of Khartoum, millions displaced yet Cyril(SA president) and co are worried about Eastern Europe. Africans worry so much about other races than theirs. It’s estimated that approximately eight hundred thousand people died during the genocide in Rwanda but I believe the figures are higher than that, it took America three months and ten days to categorize it as a genocide , then respond. My question is what immediate intervention did other African countries take as measures to stop the killings in Kigali and its surrounding regions? NOTHING. The Right to Self Determination is not a crime, it’s a right under the United Nations Charter. The first phase of this struggle seems to have proven disappointing for now but as a student of history, Yaoundé can’t count its chips yet.
