Cheating aside, allowing performance enhancing drugs to be used in competitive sports is a bad idea because winning will boil down to whomever can afford to develop the better drug, which will invariably take a toll on the athletes' bodies. Hell, look at American Footballl; even without drugs the sport will ruin a pro's body over the course of his career.

I would allow drugs in Olympics, so they can break records!!! (They are like superheroes). But also i would like to have natural Olympics, where EVERY ATHLETE would be tested (every week in random time for 4-5 months before competition starts). There would be tested and non tested Olympics. Also rewards for naturals would be much greater then for non tested, so that we would prevent everyone hoping on drugs and going to non tested Olympics. Also once you are on non tested you can not ever go on natural.

Blood doping can be done by putting yourself in a hyperbaric chamber that has lower air pressure than normal. Your body would need to produce more red blood cells to cope with the lower oxygen levels. The main side effect is an increased risk of blood clots.

    • @CheesyHotDogPuff
      @CheesyHotDogPuff 5 лет назад +1

Laboraty EWP it thickens your blood, which can make it difficult for your heart to pump it. Many pro cyclists, for example, have extremely low natural heart rates, because their hearts are so big. When you go to sleep, your heart rate slows down, so the pros heart rates when sleeping were sometimes below 30. Combine that with thick blood as it’s not good. Many pro cyclists died in their sleep during the late 90s/early 00s because of this.

Personally, I disagree with the stance most people take on performance enhancing substances.
If there are chemicals, treatments, and technologies available that can enhance human performance, but have few to no side effects, they should definitely be used to enhance human performance to its absolute limit.
We live in the 21st century, and regular human performance is no longer enough. We have developed machines to enhance our lives, but for some reason we have a bias against enhancing the greatest machine we have available to us - ourselves.
If humanity is to survive and prosper in both this century, and beyond, we need to begin the process of upgrading our biology, first on a competitive, and then on a civilian/personal level.

Why are we talking about atheletes? Why aren't we talking about humans generally. I.E. If I want to become strong and I can't be bothered to exercise (because it's extremely boring...) why shouldn't I take these medication. Similarly if someone has Athsma, why shouldn't they take similar medication to increase the amount of oxygen in their blood? Hell why allow Athsmatics in the Olympics if they are taking medication (inhalers and the like). Or contradictorily why not force other athletes to be injected with Athsma inducing drugs so they are all on a level playing field?

Asthmatics have an issue with their airways become inflamed, narrow and swell, and produce extra mucus, which makes it difficult to breathe not a lack of red blood cells.
While high does of steroids can give small gains in strength without exercise, they will be short term and carry high risks. The use of steroids lowers your natural testosterone production, so while taking steroids and not working out will give short term gains, it will have a long term lose. Where is working out without steroids increases natural testosterone production. Steroids increase the risk of heart failure, not exercising also increase your risk of heart failure.... let combine the two and see how quickly you die...

Loathomar See that's what the video should have been about. Why normal people shouldn't take steroids. Or rather:
What are the risks of taking steroids and what are the potential benefits of doing so.

This is not entirely accurate regarding steroids. I am a research scientist and my primary research focus is testosterone for muscle growth. In my research, I have found the general conception of anabolic steroids to be objectively false.
Specific to this video, there were quite a few things stated wrong or potentially misleading. Yes, steroids do reduce testes size and sperm count while increasing the incidence of acne; however, these side effects are limited to during the cycle and are fixed within weeks of terminating a cycle (except in some extreme abuse cases).
Yes, they can increase blood pressure; however, similar to caffeine and many ergogenic aids this increase is still well within normal limits and not a cause for concern. No, they do not increase the chance of prostate cancer. In those who already have prostate cancer, they can act to exacerbate it but the idea that they increase the chances has not actually been documented.
One that wasn’t mentioned, injectable steroids are not bad on the liver...at all. Oral steroids do elevate liver enzymes but it’s only when you look at the legal pro-hormones (which don’t work btw) that you see severe liver complications. Even still, the effects pale in comparison to what one would see with alcohol abuse.
Much of the thought regarding steroids as dangerous stems from flawed methodology or misleading conclusions. Look up some European journals or look at the research regarding testosterone and burn patients and you’ll see that not only are they incredibly effective but they are safe in doses of 600mg or less.
Furthermore, given the rampant use in body building (this is anecdotal) and general cycles of 750-1000 mg/wk we would expect more instances of adverse effects. Fortunately, this is not the case and adverse effects are only typically seen in cases where the lifter is taking double the dose PLUS extra stuff.
In short, when done correctly steroids can be vastly beneficial. There are numerous reports of increased strength and aesthetics but also increased sex drive, increased drive to lift, increased quality of life, and overall more happiness. It has also been shown to aid in developing anger management skills and there has yet to be a clear causal link of steroids causing “roid rage”.
Life Noggin, please research further next time before pushing ideas that are not accurate. I know it’s really not your fault as the media is pretty bad about misrepresenting facts to fit a narrative and the articles supporting their view are much easier to find. I suggest PubMed. I enjoy your videos but I had to drop everything and comment on this one lol
