I am way in the minority but I enjoyed this finale and the season overall. All of the world building and character building and the battle lines being drawn will lead in to S3 beautifully. Ser Simon and Halaena were my favorites this season. I love how Daemon's arc played out. My only complaint is that I wish I could have seen Rhaena claim the wild dragon. At least we get another spinoff next year to tide us over until S3. I enjoyed watching this with y'all!
i agree i really dont get the hate for the season....the last ep was a bit weak for the finale but apparently it was not the original finale so it makes sense why it lacks payoff. other than tht i enjoyed all other episodes.
Yeah, I also read that the season was planned to be 10 episodes but HBO made them cut it down to 8, and then the writer strike happened like 3 months after meaning they couldn't be on set to adjust some of the changes, so it makes sense that this feels more like a second or third last episode. I think they did okay considering the circumstances.
Simon is the real goat, the slightest bit of betrayal and he’s like not on my watch. Him applauding was also great 😂 Edit: also the vision was amazing, seeing Dany as the chosen prince. Still to me seasons 7 and 8 dont exsist to me until George gives us the ending. Your saying daemons personality changed in 10 minutes but did you miss every scene with him throughout this season…the whole point was showing the evolution of his character getting to the point where he’d fully support rhaneyra but also understand the omens his brother always spoke about. Let me say, first, I love your channel and have watched dozens and dozens of your reactions and I'm such a fan of y'all. Your comment that Daemon changed suddenly by touching the Wyrwood tho, was somewhat shockingly off the mark, I have to say. Daemon changed his personality over the course of his stay in Harrenhall, one ghost at a time. Your questions over the past episodes about what was going on there was that Alyss and Harrenhall and the ancient forces connected to the Wyrwood tree that Alyss is associated with were breaking him down over the course of the season to make him ready to receive that vision. Alyss says as much in her talk with him before he touches the tree and Daemon also acknowledges he is then finally ready not to scoff at such things after what he has been thru. I'm confused that y'all were watching that all happen and seemingly unhappy about how much time it was taking and then seemed to pivot and accuse the transformation of being sudden. Was it perhaps that while it was happening you didn't notice him changing? I don't mean that as a criticism but a genuine question - cuz, again, y'all are awesome. I like and share your stuff regularly and I look forward to your reactions I'm sure someone else here has already noted it and said it better than I could, but I did wanna note that Daemon's entire season arch is about how his ego and ambition and pride are so massive that it took actual supernatural forces to bend his will over a period of repeated assaults on his ego and his past mistakes and regrets to get him to finally be a changed man. Like a valyrian steel sword, he had to be reforged in the fires of Harrenhall as Alyss and the ancient forces of the Wyrwoods slowly bent him into a new shape. I hope maybe some of this was helpful. I'm not at all trying to come down on y'all - you're marvelous. I'm sorry if the story didn't connect for you in this area maybe.

I can't stand Criston Cole. But I really liked that scene between him and Gwayne(?). They both basically have ptsd. Criston knows what they face and has made his peace with it.

Alicent goes from abusing her power over Rhaenyra and her kids for 16 years to "You'll be a good queen" after one dinner. A dinner that took place after she tried to have Lucerys disinherited. Then her drugged out of his mind dying husband whispered a name several men of his family had, including both his son and his grandson, and she went back to "steal the throne" mode after a couple hours. Then, after a lifetime of abusing Aegon into accepting he would always be a challenge and Rhaenyra would kill him, she went and sold him off so she could go live in the woods somewhere with Helaena, the daughter she had to protect against Aemond trying to force her into battle, but she still abandoned her alone with him in a castle to go beg Rhaenyra for mercy while simultaneously calling her a slut and trying to evade blame. Rhaenyra went and planned the fake death of her first husband so she could marry her uncle to have his help against the greens. She went and fought for her son's inheritance and their legitimacy, begged her father to help her, and won the petition. Then she discover they stole her throne and didn't even have a funeral for her fucking father, went into early labor and have a stillborn. Her daughter, the only daughter she had, one she had craved all her life, was dead. She called it "Daemon's war" when she was the one who asked him to aid her against the greens and was glad Laenor's death would make them fear them in ep 1.07. Then she didn't kill Otto when he showed up in Dragostone, despite him being a traitor. They were planning to fight for her throne, so she sent her children. Her son was killed and she ended the season with a revenge face. Then she didn't care about said death past the premiere episode of s2. She entered the enemy city no problem and tried to sue for peace after she had lost two children. Then she went back to we must fight, but did nothing for the remainder episodes. She ends s2 in the exact same way she ended s1. Daemon. It was established in episode 1 that what he had always wanted was Viserys' acknowledgement and trust. He wanted to be by his side. Viserys sends him away instead of Otto, then proceeds to cut his hand on the throne immediately and lose that Hand. Daemon was proposed to by Rhaenyra to strengthen her claim to the throne and to fight for her. He crowns her and bends the knee, a thing Rhaenys doesn't do. Then he goes for retribution once Lucerys is killed, a normal thing to do. He fights with Rhaenyra and spends 6 episodes doing nothing in Harrenhal by having a bad trip and ends the season the exact same way he ended the first. Loyal to his fucking wife and preparing for the war. Rhaenys. Hated Rhaenyra for the entirety of s1. Blamed her for not being able to have a son with her gay infertile son. Mistreated the grandchildren he gave her, which he had given his name to, raised and loved despite not being his blood (which had been an agreement, as Rhaenyra said they tried conceiving and he wasn't able and they both needed heirs). She then helps her in the petition because her granddaughter will be the next queen and the other will be Lady of Driftmark. She is taken hostage by the greens inside her own family's castle. Then, she witnessed the usurpation of the rightful heir. She herself had lost the throne. She knows her granddaughters are Targaryens and part of Rhaenyra's family, but she lets the traitors live and goes away. "Not her war". Then she proceeds to convince Corlys they should help Rhaenyra. Daemon asks her to go after Vhagar with him. She says no. Then she proceeds to spew "we need peace" bs even after Rhaenyra lost two of her children, one of which was her grandson and her husband's beloved heir. When peace can't be achieved (NO SHIT?), she goes to fight and is killed by Vhagar, the very dragon she refused to go after with Daemon. Corlys. It's been a month or two max since he was fatally wounded and he recovered greatly. He is also an inconsistent mess of "History remembers names", "Rhaenyra sucks I won't fight", "Rhaenyra is the rightful queen", "Rhaenys died, I will go sail without a goal", "Oh, I am now Hand", "Gonna name my bastard my new heir instead of the last grandson I have, but I love my wife, here's my new ship name". Aemond. Revenge thirsty. Kills Luke in "an accident". Wants to help defeat Rhaenyra. Goes to cry to his rent-a-mommy about how life is unfair and he didn't mean to kill Luke and he regrets it. Then goes ape-shit and tries to kill his fucking brother. Becomes the prince regent and a tyrant and threatens his own armies. Fires his mom. Discovers he is not invincible. Tries to force his sister to fight because "we are in danger". Helaena. Useless, just there to see the future and do nothing about it. Plot device to deliver enigmatic lines that book readers will understand. Doesn't care about her dead son, is barely grieving. Aegon. Didn't want the throne. Was forced into it. Sat the throne. Lost his son he barely cared about. Mourned him for a couple episodes. Almost died after being king for a couple weeks. Wakes up and recovers very quickly. His burns are now scars after three weeks max of medieval-level medical treatment (today, burn victims have to endure months of treatments before they can even get out of bed lmao). Doesn't even remember his lost son. Can leave with no problems. This writing is so messy and that's not even with comparing how the characters truly are in the book. Hint: nowhere close. Rhaenys suggests dragon war before Daemon. Rhaenyra is ruthless and says she would spare her siblings only (not Alicent or Otto) if they bend the knee, but would have Aegon's head if he didn't, and that was before Lucerys died. Daemon is loyal to his family and extremely lethal and effective in gathering his armies. Helaena goes mad after Blood & Cheese. Rhaenyra grieves while Corlys and Jace lead the council. The dragonseeds were Jace's idea from the get go and he befriends two of the bastards: Nettles and Addam. Hugh and Ulf not so much. Rhaena is treated like royalty in the Vale. Joffrey had a big enough dragon. Aegon and Viserys are kids, not babies. Aemond is very much an egocentric loser. Aegon went to Rook's Rest as a Commander, not drunk. Criston was a bit more competent. Otto and Alicent were mad was fuck at Aemond.

daemon didnt change in a moment, he changed over the season. and for the better I think. alicents offer wont work since aegon wont be there to be killed. that pirate lady was such a weird character, I enjoyed her. i was hoping for a battle this episode but I did enjoy the episode, just not as a finale.

Aegon, a rapist, having his cock destroyed, is sweet sweet karma. Baela, is named after Daemon's father, Baelon the brave. Rhaena, is named after Laena's mother, Rhaenys. In truth, she wouldn't have tried with the dragons there. I don't think Daemo would have allowed it, especially because they were 12 when the dance started (they are twins in the book, not in the show). She hatches an egg that Rhaenyra sent to the Vale with her, and she calls her Morning. Sheepstealer is claimed by the dragonseed Nettles, a black girl the show cut and gave her plot to Rhaena because might as well merge them together. Nettles is an enigma, but I believe she is Daemon's bastard daughter. Ah, Corlys. Naming his ship after the wife he cheated on while he tries to make his bastard his new heir. Rhaenyra sent Ser Alfred to Harrenhal in ep. 2.05 and he got there in 2.08 Tyland got in Essos first. Aegon woke up and recovered from burns first. This timeline is a mess. All the soldiers 👁👄👁 seeing their Lord Commander of the Kingsguard admit he broke his oath and fucked the Queen while also saying they are walking to certain death. Yes, sure. They would follow him for certain after that. The Rhaena plot makes no sense. She is a Lady of House Targaryen, daughter of the prince, stepdaughter of the Queen, she was entrusted to Lady Jeyne to be protected. Also, she was there to care for her baby siblings. She would not be kicked out and she would not be allowed to leave and if she fled, then Jeyne would send people after her. What was that? Most likely one of the children of the forest. Tree's face is GRRM. And nothing that has been happening this season makes sense because it's not based on ASOIAF lore. The dream facetime was ridiculous. Helaena is not a dreamer, but they also made her a greenseer, which she can't be, she has no connection to the Old Gods. The Stark children all had different levels of connection. Bran, of course, is the one with the most connection. But they all could warg into their wolves, which was cut in GOT. Greensight allows you to see, Daemon doesn't have it, although I think it was Alys showing him through the tree, whatever. The three-eyed raven, the man there, Bloodraven, was Rhaenyra and Daemon's great-grandson. A bastard called Brynden Rivers (he also had only one eye lol). His mother was a Blackwood, which is why he is connected to the Old Gods and can see the past, present, and future. Dragon dreams are just premonitions and they don't happen in real time. They are visions of far-away futures, often enigmatic. Daenys saw the Doom and saved the Targaryens. After her, the dreamers are Aegon the conqueror (semi canon), Daeron the drunken (not the green's Daeron), Daemon II Blackfyre, Maester Aemon and of course, Daenerys. God's Eye is the lake outside of Harrenhal. Remember what Alys first said to Daemon and what he sees of himself in the vision. Take of that what you will. Helaena is a plot device to spoil things. She sees shit, like the murder of her own son, and doesn't try to do anything about it. What a great character. She knew the dance would happen back in episode 1.07 Daemon's plot was a waste. He never saught after the throne. He had already bend the knee in episode 1.10 and he fucking crowned Rhaenyra. They wasted this entire season with a will they wont they go to war and ended it with the exact same way they ended s1. Nothing happened besides Rhaenys dying and no one doing anything about it and the dragonseeds. War was on the minute Lucerys died. Daemon got his army before Rook's Rest. Alicent abused Rhaenyra and her sons for a decade, groomed Aegon to fear death if Rhaenyra was to become Queen, stole her throne for her son and they sold off said son so she can be at peace. Her character assassination is absurd. Also, she is fucking stupid. She is not selling just Aegon and Aemond. Her son Daeron she barely knows what looks like is marching for their cause with the entirety of her family's army. Her fucking father will be put to death the minute he appears, because guess what, he is a fucking traitor. Her brother and lover are also marching. She is a selfish person who created a situation and than cried she lost herself and sold everyone off for freedom. Ridiculous. Also, they are trying to take away the taking of KL from Rhaenyra. The entire plan of this season was culminating for that moment. Daemon gathered an army to take it, and Alicent said: I'll open the doors. Also, Alicent knows about the triarchy plan and said nothing. The writers are so incompetent, worse than the GOT writers, that had no book to guide them. The Dance if a complete story with order of events, dates, ages, everything there perfectly to be adapted. All the had to do was create scenes and dialogues. Now they fucked up a lot of things that can't be fixed without major retcon. This episode now has the worst note of all GOT/HOTD episodes except the s8 GOT finale. Well done.

Let's try to not be too rough on the guys. This channel is awesome. They're splendid reactors and lovely people and they've been one man down for a but while Zuff reacts. HOTD is a dense show and there's a lot going on. I agree that I was a little surprised by the reaction that Daemon changed suddenly, but not everyone tunes in to everything at the same time. Sometimes it takes a bit to process. I posted a comment that's sort of similar myself, but I just wanna make sure we're not being rough on the guys. They put out a ton of reactions for us and have full lives as well, sometimes with a dense show it just takes a second watch or some time or just talking with folks to really have everything open up to you. They do great work here.

I really wanted to like this episode but too many elements of it felt like a sudden realisation of a weak plot and desperation to quickly re-engage viewers to secure a third season. Damon's vision of Dany etc. - why? The last season of GoT wasn't well-received so to re-tie themselves to that feels like a weak choice. Also, flashing the night-king etc... for what purpose? Damon's re-alignment shouldn't have needed 8 episodes to secure and relying on a 30 second or so clip to explain it just felt like rushed, poor writing and a lack of imagination. I didn;t hate the episode but given the budget and the amount these people are paid/the pressure to deliver on a GoT IP, it should have been far better than this...

tbf he didn't lead the white wolves, so i assume they filmed it just in case, but then changed their minds and decided to follow the book in that regard! we might see roderick dustin, but surely we'll see lots of cregan during the hour of the wolf 💪

in the scene where daemon and rhaenyra reunite he says to her the army is sworn to him but didn't oskar tully said they are loyal to rhaenyra despite Daemon being the one representing her so they aren't really "his" army but hers...i dont now if the writers forgot that part or it was a way to throw us of on which way daemon was going to sway

Alicent goes from abusing her power over Rhaenyra and her kids for 16 years to "You'll be a good queen" after one dinner. A dinner that took place after she tried to have Lucerys disinherited. Then her drugged out of his mind dying husband whispered a name several men of his family had, including both his son and his grandson, and she went back to "steal the throne" mode after a couple hours. Then, after a lifetime of abusing Aegon into accepting he would always be a challenge and Rhaenyra would kill him, she went and sold him off so she could go live in the woods somewhere with Helaena, the daughter she had to protect against Aemond trying to force her into battle, but she still abandoned her alone with him in a castle to go beg Rhaenyra for mercy while simultaneously calling her a slut and trying to evade blame.
Rhaenyra went and planned the fake death of her first husband so she could marry her uncle to have his help against the greens. She went and fought for her son's inheritance and their legitimacy, begged her father to help her, and won the petition. Then she discover they stole her throne and didn't even have a funeral for her fucking father, went into early labor and have a stillborn. Her daughter, the only daughter she had, one she had craved all her life, was dead. She called it "Daemon's war" when she was the one who asked him to aid her against the greens and was glad Laenor's death would make them fear them in ep 1.07. Then she didn't kill Otto when he showed up in Dragostone, despite him being a traitor. They were planning to fight for her throne, so she sent her children. Her son was killed and she ended the season with a revenge face. Then she didn't care about said death past the premiere episode of s2. She entered the enemy city no problem and tried to sue for peace after she had lost two children. Then she went back to we must fight, but did nothing for the remainder episodes. She ends s2 in the exact same way she ended s1.
Daemon. It was established in episode 1 that what he had always wanted was Viserys' acknowledgement and trust. He wanted to be by his side. Viserys sends him away instead of Otto, then proceeds to cut his hand on the throne immediately and lose that Hand. Daemon was proposed to by Rhaenyra to strengthen her claim to the throne and to fight for her. He crowns her and bends the knee, a thing Rhaenys doesn't do. Then he goes for retribution once Lucerys is killed, a normal thing to do. He fights with Rhaenyra and spends 6 episodes doing nothing in Harrenhal by having a bad trip and ends the season the exact same way he ended the first. Loyal to his fucking wife and preparing for the war.
Rhaenys. Hated Rhaenyra for the entirety of s1. Blamed her for not being able to have a son with her gay infertile son. Mistreated the grandchildren he gave her, which he had given his name to, raised and loved despite not being his blood (which had been an agreement, as Rhaenyra said they tried conceiving and he wasn't able and they both needed heirs). She then helps her in the petition because her granddaughter will be the next queen and the other will be Lady of Driftmark. She is taken hostage by the greens inside her own family's castle. Then, she witnessed the usurpation of the rightful heir. She herself had lost the throne. She knows her granddaughters are Targaryens and part of Rhaenyra's family, but she lets the traitors live and goes away. "Not her war". Then she proceeds to convince Corlys they should help Rhaenyra. Daemon asks her to go after Vhagar with him. She says no. Then she proceeds to spew "we need peace" bs even after Rhaenyra lost two of her children, one of which was her grandson and her husband's beloved heir. When peace can't be achieved (NO SHIT?), she goes to fight and is killed by Vhagar, the very dragon she refused to go after with Daemon.
Corlys. It's been a month or two max since he was fatally wounded and he recovered greatly. He is also an inconsistent mess of "History remembers names", "Rhaenyra sucks I won't fight", "Rhaenyra is the rightful queen", "Rhaenys died, I will go sail without a goal", "Oh, I am now Hand", "Gonna name my bastard my new heir instead of the last grandson I have, but I love my wife, here's my new ship name".
Aemond. Revenge thirsty. Kills Luke in "an accident". Wants to help defeat Rhaenyra. Goes to cry to his rent-a-mommy about how life is unfair and he didn't mean to kill Luke and he regrets it. Then goes ape-shit and tries to kill his fucking brother. Becomes the prince regent and a tyrant and threatens his own armies. Fires his mom. Discovers he is not invincible. Tries to force his sister to fight because "we are in danger".
Helaena. Useless, just there to see the future and do nothing about it. Plot device to deliver enigmatic lines that book readers will understand. Doesn't care about her dead son, is barely grieving.
Aegon. Didn't want the throne. Was forced into it. Sat the throne. Lost his son he barely cared about. Mourned him for a couple episodes. Almost died after being king for a couple weeks. Wakes up and recovers very quickly. His burns are now scars after three weeks max of medieval-level medical treatment (today, burn victims have to endure months of treatments before they can even get out of bed lmao). Doesn't even remember his lost son. Can leave with no problems.
This writing is so messy and that's not even with comparing how the characters truly are in the book. Hint: nowhere close. Rhaenys suggests dragon war before Daemon. Rhaenyra is ruthless and says she would spare her siblings only (not Alicent or Otto) if they bend the knee, but would have Aegon's head if he didn't, and that was before Lucerys died. Daemon is loyal to his family and extremely lethal and effective in gathering his armies. Helaena goes mad after Blood & Cheese. Rhaenyra grieves while Corlys and Jace lead the council. The dragonseeds were Jace's idea from the get go and he befriends two of the bastards: Nettles and Addam. Hugh and Ulf not so much.
Rhaena is treated like royalty in the Vale. Joffrey had a big enough dragon. Aegon and Viserys are kids, not babies. Aemond is very much an egocentric loser. Aegon went to Rook's Rest as a Commander, not drunk. Criston was a bit more competent. Otto and Alicent were mad was fuck at Aemond.

daemon didnt change in a moment, he changed over the season. and for the better I think. alicents offer wont work since aegon wont be there to be killed. that pirate lady was such a weird character, I enjoyed her. i was hoping for a battle this episode but I did enjoy the episode, just not as a finale.

Aegon, a rapist, having his cock destroyed, is sweet sweet karma.
Baela, is named after Daemon's father, Baelon the brave. Rhaena, is named after Laena's mother, Rhaenys. In truth, she wouldn't have tried with the dragons there. I don't think Daemo would have allowed it, especially because they were 12 when the dance started (they are twins in the book, not in the show). She hatches an egg that Rhaenyra sent to the Vale with her, and she calls her Morning. Sheepstealer is claimed by the dragonseed Nettles, a black girl the show cut and gave her plot to Rhaena because might as well merge them together. Nettles is an enigma, but I believe she is Daemon's bastard daughter.
Ah, Corlys. Naming his ship after the wife he cheated on while he tries to make his bastard his new heir.
Rhaenyra sent Ser Alfred to Harrenhal in ep. 2.05 and he got there in 2.08
Tyland got in Essos first. Aegon woke up and recovered from burns first. This timeline is a mess.
All the soldiers 👁👄👁 seeing their Lord Commander of the Kingsguard admit he broke his oath and fucked the Queen while also saying they are walking to certain death. Yes, sure. They would follow him for certain after that.
The Rhaena plot makes no sense. She is a Lady of House Targaryen, daughter of the prince, stepdaughter of the Queen, she was entrusted to Lady Jeyne to be protected. Also, she was there to care for her baby siblings. She would not be kicked out and she would not be allowed to leave and if she fled, then Jeyne would send people after her.
What was that? Most likely one of the children of the forest. Tree's face is GRRM. And nothing that has been happening this season makes sense because it's not based on ASOIAF lore. The dream facetime was ridiculous. Helaena is not a dreamer, but they also made her a greenseer, which she can't be, she has no connection to the Old Gods. The Stark children all had different levels of connection. Bran, of course, is the one with the most connection. But they all could warg into their wolves, which was cut in GOT. Greensight allows you to see, Daemon doesn't have it, although I think it was Alys showing him through the tree, whatever.
The three-eyed raven, the man there, Bloodraven, was Rhaenyra and Daemon's great-grandson. A bastard called Brynden Rivers (he also had only one eye lol). His mother was a Blackwood, which is why he is connected to the Old Gods and can see the past, present, and future. Dragon dreams are just premonitions and they don't happen in real time. They are visions of far-away futures, often enigmatic. Daenys saw the Doom and saved the Targaryens. After her, the dreamers are Aegon the conqueror (semi canon), Daeron the drunken (not the green's Daeron), Daemon II Blackfyre, Maester Aemon and of course, Daenerys.
God's Eye is the lake outside of Harrenhal. Remember what Alys first said to Daemon and what he sees of himself in the vision. Take of that what you will.
Helaena is a plot device to spoil things. She sees shit, like the murder of her own son, and doesn't try to do anything about it. What a great character. She knew the dance would happen back in episode 1.07
Daemon's plot was a waste. He never saught after the throne. He had already bend the knee in episode 1.10 and he fucking crowned Rhaenyra. They wasted this entire season with a will they wont they go to war and ended it with the exact same way they ended s1. Nothing happened besides Rhaenys dying and no one doing anything about it and the dragonseeds. War was on the minute Lucerys died. Daemon got his army before Rook's Rest.
Alicent abused Rhaenyra and her sons for a decade, groomed Aegon to fear death if Rhaenyra was to become Queen, stole her throne for her son and they sold off said son so she can be at peace. Her character assassination is absurd. Also, she is fucking stupid. She is not selling just Aegon and Aemond. Her son Daeron she barely knows what looks like is marching for their cause with the entirety of her family's army. Her fucking father will be put to death the minute he appears, because guess what, he is a fucking traitor. Her brother and lover are also marching. She is a selfish person who created a situation and than cried she lost herself and sold everyone off for freedom. Ridiculous. Also, they are trying to take away the taking of KL from Rhaenyra. The entire plan of this season was culminating for that moment. Daemon gathered an army to take it, and Alicent said: I'll open the doors.
Also, Alicent knows about the triarchy plan and said nothing. The writers are so incompetent, worse than the GOT writers, that had no book to guide them. The Dance if a complete story with order of events, dates, ages, everything there perfectly to be adapted. All the had to do was create scenes and dialogues. Now they fucked up a lot of things that can't be fixed without major retcon.
This episode now has the worst note of all GOT/HOTD episodes except the s8 GOT finale. Well done.

Let's try to not be too rough on the guys. This channel is awesome. They're splendid reactors and lovely people and they've been one man down for a but while Zuff reacts. HOTD is a dense show and there's a lot going on. I agree that I was a little surprised by the reaction that Daemon changed suddenly, but not everyone tunes in to everything at the same time. Sometimes it takes a bit to process. I posted a comment that's sort of similar myself, but I just wanna make sure we're not being rough on the guys. They put out a ton of reactions for us and have full lives as well, sometimes with a dense show it just takes a second watch or some time or just talking with folks to really have everything open up to you. They do great work here.

what a stupid forced reaction
I really wanted to like this episode but too many elements of it felt like a sudden realisation of a weak plot and desperation to quickly re-engage viewers to secure a third season. Damon's vision of Dany etc. - why? The last season of GoT wasn't well-received so to re-tie themselves to that feels like a weak choice. Also, flashing the night-king etc... for what purpose? Damon's re-alignment shouldn't have needed 8 episodes to secure and relying on a 30 second or so clip to explain it just felt like rushed, poor writing and a lack of imagination. I didn;t hate the episode but given the budget and the amount these people are paid/the pressure to deliver on a GoT IP, it should have been far better than this...
Finale was garbage. Season was below average.
