Christina (during her debut), Jessica, Mandy, Willa… every label wanted a young blonde soloist.
Christina is who I think they should've all aspired to be like.. not britney
@@mikegarcia597 Christina’s an interesting case to me whether or not she was pushed to compete with Britney as a clone considering they debuted in such similar time frames
not just blonde, but also trying to emulate Britney's baby voice, which made the clones' songs age horribly tbh. Jessica Simpson has a really big voice but her label wanted her to sound more like Britney, which is a shame.
Just like in the early 2010s labels wanted young prepubescent JB clones. Or ten years later how labels want young singer-songwriters with a "pop punk" sound.
Christina and Brittney came up at the same time. They were in the MMC together. Brittney just happened to hit first, but as far as a musician and vocalist. None of these girls including Brittney even come close to Christina. Not even close! Brittney is a showman and hard worker. I give her props for that, but I'm just saying Christina is on another level as a vocalist and I have always gravitated to her over any of these girls because of that.
she just has that thing - that star power that draws you in when she performs. She also seems so down to earth and simple. I’m glad Britney is free ❤️
Britney’s in that same category as Dolly Parton for me, meaning that I can’t tell you the last time I’ve listened to a song of hers but she’s high on my list of “Famous people that must be protected at all costs”, she just seems like such a lovely person who has undeservedly went through so much shit, fuck the industry
She’s free now???? The conservativeship is done???
@@luna740 Yes, it ended November 12th, 2021
That’s the Louisiana in her..
She needs to keep her wallet closed to even her boyfriend.
She is now at a risk of them sucking her dry & they know they have a chance to get it.
The new boyfriend & new accountants etc are still a risk of being a problem because of people in groups working an angel of bringing people down.
Britney is a rare talent & a representative of a strong woman everywhere .
I’m guilty of thinking (at the time) “these girls are just trying to be Brittney” but after watching this and finding out none of these girls wanted to be Brittney it was all the pressure from their record labels I have a lot of sympathy for them
it's a double-edged sword, because these girls could have said "no," and walked away. They chose to do this.
but the reality is, if i was 18 and someone said, "here, do this, act like this, sing this, dance like this," and we'll give you millions of dollars and try hard to make you a household name......i would have said yes.
at that age, you're being offered the chance of a lifetime. the smart move is to take it.
are you being manipulated, yes? are you being forced? no. you could walk away....but you didnt.
I dont feel sorry for them. maturity means realizing that nothing in this life is free and that actions have consequences.
sing the songs, take the money, do what they say.
or....become an accountant. or "sandwich artist" at starbucks.
or...just another doctor (Nothing wrong with that...but rich and famous vs. doctor or lawyer?..... hard to say.
Me? I'm a doctor. If I had the choice....i'd chose rich and famous and get my education later, if i really wanted it....but with celebrity money, the thought of 36 hour shifts, splattered with blood, and smelling like disinfectant and missing my anniversary dinner....doesnt seem like much of a choice. Either way is a good life...but rich and famous is the kind of life very very few people get a shot at)
@@Maya.0114 they were not forced 😂😂
@@slchance8839 please don’t downplay your success as a doctor although I completely get where you’re coming from! Everyone is told as a kid that becoming a doctor is one of the most respectable careers you could go into and I admire all doctors. The reality as you described obviously is nothing like endless amount of money and fame and getting to not do 10% of the work you’re probably doing everyday so I completely get where you’re coming from.
I think it’s sad these girls were told to put their authenticity on the back burner for money and fame at such a young age which i can definitely imagine has left a lot of these girls with a bittersweet feeling as they got older. Unfortunately this is a business and it’s about what sells. Britney herself had to drop her own authenticity to become Britney Spears and just because it worked extremely well for her it’s not what she truly wanted. She originally had a very deep soulful voice and was forced to vocal fry to appeal to a younger audience and to men. She was also over-sexualised. It’s a way bigger issue with the entertainment industry than girls being “forced” to copy Britney because that wasn’t even really Britney either.
@@psychomaia thank you for your well-expressed and thoughtful response.
i like what you said about britney dopping her own authenticity and over-sexualization. Considering she was a Disney Mousketeer (from the age of 4, I think) and that Disney asks it's teen Mousketeers not to wear two-piece bikinis (over-sexualization and brand image).
At some point, though, Britney would have to become an adult. Even a sexualized adult. Sadly, we all smile and laugh a little less as we get older. Are we sadder? No, wiser. Are we miserable? No, just less surprised by misery and suffering. As children we're sheltered from harshness (rightfully). And we can smile more by seeing life through the eyes of an innocent and young Britney.
Is the crime that she grew up too fast? Or that she grew up at all?
I also like that you addressed it as the entertainment industry. Industry is the correct word. The reality is that MOST things are an industry, with products and customers.
Educations sells information, agenda, and credentials ($200,000 for a piece of paper (diploma)...that is recognized in one country.....but not another -- try practicing US law in Switzerland. Or vice versa )
Truck driving schools sell a skill.
Health care sells drugs and service.
Restaurants sell a food and experience.
Night clubs sell a lifestyle image.
"Forever 21" sells an image of a younger self.
Me? I'd shop at a "Forever 41," if they sold me the middle-aged WISDOM.
Mandy Moore has have different ways than britney...he become actress
Britney was really THAT girl. She still is. But nothing compares to her power in the early to late 2000’s era.
Yeah 1998-2004 from Baby One More Time to the Onyx Tour
And 2007-2010 from Blackout to the Circus Tour
I think if she could release another album without the restraint of the conservatorship she could have another huge impactful hit
GLORY was a hit album but the singles were trash really collaborating with tinashe and g easy? lol
she would still be unstoppable just like rihanna or bey if it wasn't for the fact that she was 13 years in a conservatorship, they totally set her career up but she has the potential to have a second peak
@@alvarod9288 I mean, you’re acting like she didn’t generate several times what Beyoncé or Rihanna ever did. Even with their business ventures, Britney made billions of dollars for her dad. I mean, she still to this date has the larger concert in Japan in history, where they still buy CDs and has an almost on par music consuming rate with the USA but it’s like a twelfth of the size
Wow, britney was soo powerful people were labeling every artist based on her. Damn that’s influence right there…
I’m so glad Jessica Simpson has done well, but I do feel bas about her singing career. I was so shocked when I heard one of her earlier songs, she was talented and had a strong voice! Its such a pity the record companies ruined it by trying to put her into a box.
1998-2004 Britney Spears was the last global international superstar. People were comparing her to Madonna & Michael Jackson at the time, she was the biggest superstar in the world. This was pre-social media and she was still so omnipresent. Anytime you went to a store, you see Britney on tabloid & magazine covers. Anytime you turned on the radio, Britney was on. Anytime you turn on MTV, Britney’s music videos played. Anytime Britney did something, she was international news. That type of star power doesn’t exist anymore, she ruled the world with a wave of her hands. She truly earned the title of “Princess of Pop”.
Gaga was last
Several people have been international global superstar after 2004. Rihanna came out in 2005 and she turned into a global superstar in 2007 after Umbrella. Lady Gaga arguably based on her impact in 2008-2011
@@angechrisman1694 not to Britney levels
@@hamzaiqbal7985 Stop moving the goal post you said "last international global superstar". We've seen other ppl emerging and going global. Lady Gaga was the biggest star on the planet from jump. From 2008-2011 she was at the zeitgeist of pop music during the Fame, Fame Monster and Born This Way eras. But her success, relevant kind of fizzled out after that peak and she had the resurgence in 2018 with A Star is Born. Beyoncé ever since she broke out of Destiny's Child became one the biggest star in music History for the past 20 years with wayyyy more staying power than any of her peers from the late 90s and early 2000s including Usher, Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Pink and Britney Spears as well some ppl might say kinda fell off after 2011 and was NEVER the same as in 1999-2004 during her peak. The consistency, longevity and staying power are key to get to that higher level and not everybody has that to their credit. Britney Spears was not surrounded by the right people and exploited and held captive from 2008-2021 with that conservatorship
@@angechrisman1694 I mean not denying Gaga & Beyoncé are big stars, but the fame that Britney acquired was different. Gaga’s music was massive but her as a person, people could care less. Britney was a BRAND PRODUCT where the Britney doll rivaled the Barbie doll in sales. Hussain’s palace was plastered with Britney Spears posters after 9-11 as she was the definitive staple of pop culture at the time. Every teenage girl on the planet wanted to be her and every guy wanted to be with her. You can’t say the same with Bey & Gaga as they geared towards adult contemporary.
I’m so glad Christina was able to break away from the Britney machine. She’s one of the greatest vocalists in pop music and has such a great catalogue and videography. Her Back to Basics album is one of my favorite albums of all time.
she's literally promoting NFT right now. She has a great vocal but she kept misusing her talent for something mediocre or just bad. TBH I still love Bionic album, felt like it was sabotaged by critics and her peers. But from Lotus to her today music she's not doing well
@@DzungLongVN Christina is doing very well. Her albums may not be doing commercially great numbers but they’re still good albums. I went to see her in concert for her Liberation tour in Chicago in 2018 and it was a packed house. She was one of Time magazines most influential people for 2013 because of her role on The Voice and she was the highest paid judge on that panel and the only woman. She won another Grammy and had multiple hit collaborations that year too. Before the pandemic she had a world tour and a Las Vegas residency. She’s accomplished a lot in the last decade. Right now she has a Spanish EP which is critically acclaimed and the first single just went Gold so it’s safe to say that Christina is flourishing and she still has a net worth of $160 million. Probably due to the fact that she literally gets paid millions just to do one singing gig.
Britney Spears hasn’t had a hit album in about 10 years either so I’m not sure why people try to make it seem as if Christina’s commercial appeal says something about her. Lots of artists commercially decline after a few years. That’s just the nature of the business. Music trends change and the next generation wants something new.
@@cristinarivera5707 Sis u lost me when I brought Britney into it bc it’s the same thing with her. Sure she hasn’t had a commercial era in a decade but if you wanna talk Las Vegas residencies lol she blows Christina out of the water lol so let’s not compare the two they are great artists in their own ways
@@stxrstrxckmxteo515 Britney had been in Las Vegas for years. Much longer then Christina so of course she’s going to have made more money if that’s the metrics you’re using to compare. I bring up Britney because the whole video is about her and to this day Christina gets belittled constantly to make Britney out to be superior no matter what she does. Christina is still very accomplished even after all these years and yet people always weaponize her lower album sales to try and minimize her. Yet when Britney’s own commercial decline is brought up, they want to be hypocritically outraged or try to neutralize the situation with some “they’re both great artist” gaslighting nonsense.
Christina is doing great on the Latino market.
Mandy Moore is def a better actress than she ever was a singer. A walk to remember sealed her fate as a better actress vs singer.

I loved her in HIMYM!
how can we ever forget her character Mandy from princess diaries!?
Rapunzel man, Rapunzel
Her voice was beautiful in a walk to remember?? And in Tangled
What's funny to me...is while other record labels were scrambling to find their next britney...britney is being over sexualized and media was already trying to make her a "one hit wonder"...like even in that diane sawyer interview in 2003...after britney had sold 2 of the highest selling albums of all time...multiple tours, a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, and ...I always thought it was funny that her albums after baby and oops were considered "flops" even tho they were still selling multiple millions globally and debuting at #1 even with her being banned from radio...poor girl didnt stand a chance...she gave us so much 💕
Do you guys have receipts on her being banned from radio? Why would radio ban a money maker like Britney F***ing Spears? In my opinion the most logical reason her singles underperforming back then was because the record label did need it when her albums were selling millions of copies in one week. Britney started getting lots of No.1 songs during & after the Circus era because her albums wasn't selling 2 million in one week. The label focused more on her singles after Blackout era. I'm sure if the label pushed harder "Toxic" would've been No.1. Similar to how Taylor Swift gets number ones even when her albums sells a million in one week.
@@kevinrentz8773 I tried adding some articles but you can google basically what happened with that was she was being sponsored by Pepsi to do a tour instead of Clearwater channel who ...I should clarify didnt "ban" britney but blacklisted her so her singles wudnt get much air play because she didnt go with them for her dream within a dream tour ..but I think you're 100% right! I do believe her albums did very well they didnt need to worry about the singles!!.. it was just funny how she was so famous and larger than life and media constantly put her down in her prime 🤷♀️ ..the girl was a household name within her first year of having an album!
i mean, she still does "stand a chance". she has had hits from 1999-2011(maybe 2013). thats 12 years of longevity which is alot longer than many of the main pop girls, especially considering her being inactive from 2004-2007 and then the breakdown. she came back after being the worlds biggest bald laughing stock with womanizer and with all the exposure from the conservatorship i think she could do it again
@@fionn9816 I agree and I hope she does. 💕
@@kevinrentz8773 no yeah It’s definitely that her singles weren’t pushed to begin with. I may be a biased fan but I think they really dropped the ball during the Britney era because “Overprotected” is actually sneakily catchy and could easily have been a top 20 hit in the US and gone bigger overseas. The boys remix as well should’ve been pushed more. Oh well:
With Xtina people are unfairly comparing her to Britney solely cause of their blonde hair and disney history. Their music and singing styles is and has always been different.

That's why the "Britney is a product and mediocre, etc" theory doesn't apply.
Thinking it's catchy pop records, doing the baby voice, being sexy, dancing and being blonde that are needed to make a successful artist like Britney... they tried a thousand times, with a thousand girls, but they couldn't replicate the greatness of Britney.
It wasn't luck, it wasn't a label push...
She gave us iconic records, music videos, performances and even her personal life (wanting or not) has unforgettable moments that shaped media and pop culture till this day.
Whoever calls Britney mediocre deserves d$aTH
Whoever calls her mediocre is just pressed, needs olympic level stamina to pull out the kinda performances she put out not to mention the fact she used to train for 12 hours a day. Luck is definitely there, but its pure hardwork. Britney raised an entire generation of mine with her. Love or hate, Britney has become a legend and for her legacy will be much more than just pop music now.
It's not so much that but, while she had charisma in her heyday, it's that the brand gets tiring after a while. People want something new. The first Idol winner gets a huge career and number one albums. The tenth one is forgotten the next day
@@MsJubjubbird not really. There are artists from Idol who got a sucessful career after Kelly. Carrie Underwood, for instance.

Mandy Moore’s response was so real and relatable. I think no matter what field you’re in, you can have an experience with what it feels like to be compared to someone with a similar ~look~ to you, who is ahead of you in their own right, even if their talents are not where your talents lie so the comparison makes no sense to you but it does to the rest of the world. It’s maddening.
It is not only about the simple "Britney Copying", it is about those company wanting to find out the "blonde teen pop diva" formula and manufacture as much of these as possible. People thought it is reproducible and some examples did work to some extent, but BS is much more than the teen trend. Another popping-up diva at that time was Avril Lavigne but you can't find many Avril copycat back then since people are more likely to treat her like an exception instead of a punk-rock or pop-rock trend.
Are you serious? Every girl was essentially an Avril Lavigne rip-off. Most of them are just no longer around to tell their story. Ashlee Simpson, Skye Sweetnam, among others all followed the Avril formula (be the average tomboy girl and sing about "real" things in pop-rock style). They're all called the "anti-Britneys"
@@GenerationNextNextNext Notably, Avril herself was a posthumous representant of a 90s current, known in Poland as "rock kobiecy" i.e. "female rock"(it is most prominent on her first album). Namely, it was the trend of alternative rock with angsty, introspective lyrics, performed by female artists. Here belonged bands such as The Cranberries, 4 Non Blondes, and artists such as Alanis Morrisette and her imitators as well as P.J. Harvey.

When money can be made with little risk, in any field (be it coffee, cars, or clothes) there are business people willing to take that risk and cash in.
Britney isnt so much an entrepreneur or an artist....she's a PRODUCT sold to US. Her talent and image is the quality of the product. How do we know this?
Look at Madonna. Madonna was the Britney of the 80s - watch concert footage, girls going crazy trying to look just like her.
After Madonna (and George Michael) broke from their pop contracts and started producing their own **art**. Their sales and image went waay down. Still good art. Still respectable, but with a major label to advertise and SELL them....you see how REALLY loved they are....you can measure it....in dollars.
Less dollars = less popularity.
If you're super popular, people will spend THOUSANDS to buy your merch and see you in concert.
Money is how we keep score.
Britney had the highest score in the early 2000s. Copycats...not so high. Not saying she's not talented, but if her number is down...that's how you can measure staying power.
Avril came after this was already established, she was marketed as the Anti Britney...
Ashlee Simpson is a failed Avril rip-off
Could you make another video and talk about Avril Lavigne's followers? We have Ashlee Simpson, Fefe Dobson, Katy Rose, Skye Sweetnam, Lillix, Krystal Meyers and Lesley Roy.

People tend to think that she was in Britney's shadow but she really was a huge force in pop music. Lol I'm sorry but that's just not true. She would've never been as big as Britney Spears.
You can also tell how great of a singer she is when you listen to the Tangled soundtrack
Mandy Moore’s albums Wild Hope, Amanda Leigh, Silver Linings, and In Real Life are all really great! Very different from her teenybopper albums. I think she’s one of the most underrated artists of her time.
I remember Heidi Montag's song "Higher" getting occasional airplay on MuchMusic and just thinking to myself, "Oh my God this is the worst fucking song I've ever heard." But then Kim Kardashian released "Jam" and that quickly took the crown.
I’ve not heard either of those songs but I 100% believe you’re right.
This video simply proves how terrible big record companies really are. Instead of developing each artist into their own woman they’d rather recreate what Britney did, while simultaneously comparing Britney Spears to Madonna.
I've never understood the Madonna comparisons. Britney was highly influenced by janet there was no madonna comparison to begin with I think they said that just because britney has blonde hair 🙄
I certainly see the influence of both Janet and Madonna. Britney has cited those 2 as her biggest influences. Artists are influenced by more than one person.
It could be argued though that Britney resembles Paula Abdul more than both. M & J took more artistic risks and made political statements with their music. While Britney has remained faithful to fun dance pop for the most part.
@@honestboy true but I would disagree sure Britney wasn't really political but from dance, looks, star power, sexuality, and sound. It's almost as if M and J make love and gave birth to the Princess of Pop herself.
@@jalennelson6821 Britney has literally collaborated with Madonna TWICE it would be foolish to say she wasn’t influenced by her but yes she is also influenced by Janet
In Europe we had Robyn and Billie before Britney, Billie ended after 2 albums and Robyn ended up creating her own label and doing her own thing.
I think Billie Piper had more success acting, you might remember her starring alongside David Tennant in Doctor Who.
Robyn had some success in the U.S. in the late 90s RIGHT BEFORE Britney debuted. Robyn's 1st album went Platinum in America and scored two hit singles ('Do U know what It Takes' & 'Show Me Love') but then she started having issues with her record label and that ended her momentum. I remember Billie briefly but she only had one hit in the states.
It’s very interesting that the teen pop era really was lead by brandy but Britney and x- Tina get that credit for being the 1st. Brandy had the success image and teen pop on lock for years. Brandy is the inspo.
Omg agreed! If Brandy were white, then she would have been credited for leading the image of the teen pop era :(
This is true. Britney and Christina also admittedly studied Brandys Never Say Never album. Even though Brandy’s debut leans more r&b. It could be argued that NSN is not really all that different from the type of music Britney & Xtina would go on to create. The only thing really separating them is skin color. I do think Britney however became the face of the teen pop movement because her presence was so massive. She did play a major part in it. But *start* it? She did not. Artists like Brandy, Spice Girls, were already making waves for teen pop.
Monica is also VERY overlooked. I was shocked to learn that she had multiple number 1 hits and a platinum album. She barely gets any credit. Ashanti is also underrated even though she came out after britney.
@@asdfghjkl3003 Which album of Monica’s went diamond?
I think Monica’s music is far more routed in r&b. Clive Davis wanted to turn her into the next Whitney Houston with big pop records but she resisted. Aaliyah was also another teen act but her music was undeniably r&b. She was also marketed more secretively. And didn’t reveal her age when she first stepped on the scene.
You should do a follow up video with "The Era of Spice Girls (and TLC) Copycats" cause I can name a BUNCH of copycats from both groups

Mandy Moore’s Albums are actually really good. Her 2001 Self-Titled pop album is underrated. Mandy’s folk pop albums Wild Hope & Amanda Leigh also underrated. Her weakest is of course her debut album which has a lot of filler. It is great that she made a comeback in recent years with “This Is Us” on NBC.
She also had a more recent album she released in 2020 called Silver Linings which is also quite good!
I forget how nice her voice is, imo she would have been better off as a folk pop/soft rock type act from the start, her voice is better suited to it instead of the watered-down r&b bubblegum pop of the late 90's-early 00's.
Amanda Leigh is one of my favorite albums of all time. She also released an album called In Real Life in 2022.
Also, what most people don’t know is that “Baby… one more time”, took a few months to blow up, having her open for NSYNC where people would boo her off stage because they thought she was dating Justin. In a few months, the crowds started coming for Britney instead of NSYNC and the rest is history.
P.s. You can ALWAYS tell which artist Jessica Simpson was copying for each music video, like it’s painstakingly obvious.
Britney didn't actually have a nasally voice. Her record label made her sing like that on purpose. She actually had a really beautiful voice.
I think they said she sounded too much like Christina when they were both starting their solo careers after the Mickey Mouse Club, where Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling also got their start.
I'm so happy you did this video. I've grown up with these pop star's in the late 90s and early 2000s in school and I've always wanted someone to talk about the Britney clones.
1:54 funny you mention that! "candy" is straight up a rip-off of robyn's "do you know (what it takes)" which was made by the same people that would go on to do music for britney
Don’t forget Hoku and Leslie Carter! And even though they weren’t blonde other labels tried to make Mikaila, Kaci Battaglia and Amanda like Britney to an extent
OMG yes! "Perfect Day" and "Another Dumb Blonde" are bangers.

Not Heidi Montag thinking she could outdo Thriller, literally *THE BIGGEST ALBUM* of all time. Nobody in any music generation since, now or in the future will ever hold a candlestick to the magnitude of the Thriller album. It's quite honestly laughable and grandiose delusion that caps that off and it's rather sad.
Thriller is the greatest and most important album of the 1980s wothout a daubt, then it would be Prince's Purple Rain, Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA, U2's The Joshua Tree, Guns&Roses Appetite for Destruction, Madonna's Like a Prayer, Phil Collins No Jacket Required, AC/DC Back in Black.
that's the iconic/ironic delusion i love in popstars!
LMFAO WHAT??? This is beyond delusional. Heidi needs to stop chasing after waterfalls and oceans and stick to her simple puddles and channels
@Theo S yeah true but I find it hard to believe she would aim that high
Didn’t Jessica criticize Britney at some point ??? Kinda ironic if you ask me 🤔🤔

It was probably just business doesn't mean that she actually didn't like her. Some record label try to manipulate artists into throwing another artist under the bus. It's not right but that's how it is.
BRITNEY IS THE MUTHER!!
Britney is BRITNEY SPEARS. That's enough compliment. Her aura is SO strong that undeniably she's THE main character of the music industry
Key word; character. Not artist
This just shows britney was truly the most powerful pop star at her peak
Last girl really thought she could top the beat selling album of all time I’m crying 💀
Exactly spice girls , they got Britney to do everything the spice girls did. ..Pepsi, A Movie and a doll and more !
I always loved how p!nk was so anti pop princess anti Britney and proceeded to make the poppiest music out there 😂😂😂
With the same songwriters and producers as Britney😁
she initially was an RnB artist. But her music from her first 5 albums is way less bubblegum than Britney and much more edgy. She went more of old school ballad songwriters then As she's gone into middle age she's become more like Adele I think, still not bubblegum pop like Britney. That's a maturing through life stages though. Every young adult has something to say.
@@MsJubjubbird Yeah, I think of P!nk as more of a rock singer who just happened to be popular during the reign of the pop princesses.
Jessica Simpson is too talented, I don’t know if they used her to copycat Brit but she shouldn’t stop singing. She just not a great dancer 💃
I remember buying her album when I was in the 5th grade and listening to it over and over in '99 into the 2000s and then being obsessed with her next album, Mandy Moore.
Mandy, I don't want refund 😉
I always felt that the record label designed Mandy to be Britney's rival and Jessica to be Christina's. "Christina Aguilera" and "Sweet kisses" are very similar albums and they both even have a song with the same sample.
I remeber watching a promo on mtv where they alll talked about them being the next Britney Spears. It was very awkward and I felt like it was too much at the time lol. It’s great to see all four ladies still doing stuff almost 20 years later.
Oh wow I never thought of that but it makes sense. It could be a possibility.
Which songs do they have that have the same sample?
@@noemistephanie93 Jessica's Betcha she don't love you and Christina's Love will find a way
@@olimunleashed6916 Omg I know those songs and they do sound the same! What song are they sampling btw? It sounds like Fantasy from Mariah Carey
Like Jessica was the Christian, more relatable Christina because they both had the powerful voices. And Mandy was the more childlike Britney who parents cold trust wouldn’t go mature as Brit was more sexual connotations since her debut and switched her sound with her self-titled.
"Women can't do rock" I ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Were they forgetting how Alanis Morrisette took the music world by storm just a few years before then? She was definitely rock.
Labels do this kinda stuff. Whitney Houston and Janet were the it girls in the 80’s through the 90’s. Other labels made Mariah, Céline, Toni Braxton to name a few.
In fairness Mandy quickly escaped to a sound more akin to Delta Goodrem and Holly Valance the moment she could escape and Christina became Christina. It's a shame that they were all pushed to be Britney , but the business needs money. The same thing happened in Country when Randy Travis's album sold millions of albums, they then started firing artists in favor of new ones that sound like him.
I love Christina. I'm obsessed with her talent. She's literally the Queen of vocals in pop music. Has anyone noticed that a lot of artists today really want to have that high vocal range like Christina? She's better than Britney tbh. Although I can't tell that Britney is people's choice because she was the first pop princess during the early 2000s, but lemme say that inside of the industry, a lot of artists and other Christina co-stars in MMC are really amazed by her talent and charisma. Even Britney Spears, from her past interviews back in the 2000s, said that she really loved Christina as a real performer.
Mandy Moore’s early work was so cringe. Her dancing in Candy - oh my. Just no. But I love her voice and her acting. Rapunzel is my fav Disney movie. Jessica Simpson really won in the long run with her successful fashion line, though.
for heidi to compare her album to thriller is a complete joke. thriller has been the highest selling album of all time still to this day. yeah…no girl idk what reality she’s in but it’s not this one.
The irony is that out of all of these women, CHRISTINA is the only natural blonde. So really, when you think of “blonde teenage female pop star” Christina should come to mind first, but Britney debuted earlier
To this day, Heidi Montag's Superficial is still one of the worst albums I've ever heard. So no, personally, I don't think it got anything other than what it should have deserved. I like Heidi, she seems like a genuine person, moreso now than back in the day, but I just think that album is plain bad. Her stolen demo, Dramatic with Britney Spears, was a way better song and beat the shit out of literally every single song on that album haha. I think the songwriting wasn't the worst part of the album. Her vocals consistently being drowned in autotune didn't help, but what did it most for me was, oddly enough, the production. I don't think the production helped her at all. If you wanna take a look at how you can make a quality album without having all too much vocal talent, but just money to spend - take a look at Paris Hilton's 2006 album Paris.
The fact that she thought her album would be as successful as Blackout or even bigger than thriller, that was a stretch.
Paris Hilton’s album is a surprising banger 😌
Tommy Mottola was extremely obsessed with Mariah Carey, and Heidi was beyond delusional.
thank you for acknowledging the role the Spice Girls phenomenon played in opening doors for Britney and company.
I liked Willa. A major difference between her and the others is that she refused to lip sync. There's even a song on her record about this
Willa was a hottie
This is the modern equivalent to film studios in the 50s who hired blonde Marilyn Monroe copycats to get “their own Marilyn”
Jessica can SANG!! Sometime she oversings BUT queen can belt like her lungs are made of literal steel😍😍
I still love her song I wanna love you forever
JS can SING, not SANG….there’s a clear difference. She is not a strong vocalist and she borderline yells when she tries to belt.
And to think we wouldn’t have the Britney sound if it weren’t for Robyn.
And Disney also tried to make Hillary Duff their own ‘Britney Spears’
Which definitely worked, but Hillary had her own identity tho
Hilary was in fact the same case as Britney because after Hilary Duff there were a lot of copycats or similar artists (even to this day) let's see: Lindsay Lohan, Ashlee Simpson, Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, Ally & AJ, after some years Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, then Bella Thorne, Zendaya, Dove Cameron, Brigit Mendler... the list goes on. Before Hilary of course there were others but Hilary was the trendsetter of Disney like Britney but in minor scale but as I said that trend still remains.
@@manuelvilleurpop Ashlee Simpson didn’t come from Disney though

Christina separated herself from Britney even earlier than Stripped (2002). In the year 2000 she released "Mi Reflejo", her first Spanish album, which had Spanish versions of the singles from her debut album plus some new songs, including Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti, which is still like one of the best pop ballads in Spanish ever.

It was the same with boybands. Once BSB and Nsync became huge, boybands started popping up like mushrooms. Record labels see a trend and just try to cash in on it.

I find it funny that you mentioned the anti-britney girls. As Christina winded up trying to shift into that area just to get called out by P!nk for being fraudulent.😂
Pink calling anyone ''fraudulent'' is hilarious. She used black culture to get on and then distanced herself. Xtina was pop/r&b from the jump and never ran from it. Xtina was really the first anti-Britney.
