- This is a fun filled day on the farm with my Darlin helping me to harvest the seeds from our mammoth sunflower patch we sowed this year. Although a lot of stalks were damaged from a severe storm we had a while back we still ended up with a ton of seed heads for drying. Molly the Old English Sheepdog is always following us around the farm and the barn cats keep us company too. We collect eggs, feed the animals and have a ton of fun at the farm. Black oil sunflower seeds are good for chickens especially in the winter
that's good to know...I'm sure they enjoy cracking them open eh. Most of our seeds will be for the chickens and geese anyways.
Squirrels & birds got mine. This weekend I will assess the damage & see if any are harvestable.
yeah the birds never get full. The cats are keeping the pests at bay for us as much as they can too.

Wow is that I thing? I just googled it and yes…it’s a thing. Maybe next year it’ll be drier and less rainy. Mold was setting in cause of the dampness. Interesting though.
