Of all the questlines in soulsbourne games this one fucked me up the most. Like, most storylines have something along the lines of losing your mind, succumbing to your guilt, or dying/tragedy while reaching for your goals. This questline was the victim of pure unadulterated cruelty that kickstarts Jar-Bairn into a journey that will eventually pan out in tragedy like Alexander. The sour-sweet ending is the closure it gives Diallos and pushes Jar-Bairn into chasing his dreams.
Alexander mightve believed a warrior fights alone to begin with but along his journey he learned he fights with the spirits of all the warriors he's consumed. Our little jar friend won't be alone for long.
Just got the resolution to this questline a day or so ago. I always felt bad for Diallos when I realized just how insecure and hard on himself he was: makes me feel all the better for dismantling Volcano Manor for manipulating him. I didn't do the full Volcano Manor questline, either: his brother's still out there and I was honestly expecting to find him standing where Diallos fell after all this. When Alexander challenged me to fight in Faram Azula... I was hoping there'd be a way around it, but it happened so fast when I spoke to him again. The music in the area felt... So much different then. First Melina giving herself to burn the Erdtree, then Alexander dying by the hand of the sorceress who fought beside him time and time again. Meeting Jar Bairn afterwards, I dreaded having to break the news to him. It all culminated in this. I was proud of Diallos, when he said he finally felt like he was on the right path. I was hoping the village would be isolated enough that all would be well, but then... I saw what happened when deciding to check on him. I told him he defended the jars, even if so many were lost: he finally had something worth fighting for and fought to the last to protect it. He's a hero, through and through: a true champion. I wish Jar Bairn the best on their journey: with both Diallos and Alexander at their side, I am confident they will become a great champion. The tale of House Hoslow is told in blood... I hated that quote before, seeing it as a boast that would be appropriated by edgy players. Now, I see it as the tragic tale it is: a tale of loss and pain, carried by warriors who bear that legacy all their lives. Seems almost defiant, to endure despite the pain: to ensure none would have to endure it again. Sorry for the long ramble. If only we could more directly intervene in more events in game, like when the poacher attacks. I would have loved to see Alexander deciding to return home, Diallos as Potentate, and everyone all living happily in this peaceful little hamlet. They will all be honored in my Age of Stars.
people calling this a sad ending really are on some shit it says it right in the companion jar talisman description, "Perhaps they were made to be better than their innards." alexander wasn't strong, but did everything he could to be, and ultimately is still grateful to the player for having something to aspire to and serve as inspiration. diallos is almost the opposite, where he thought he was stronger than he was, due to the insecurities he had from growing up a spoiled brat. over the course of his story he learns to leave that behind him and accept that he might not be strong, but he can at least learn to fight for what he believes in. the important part is that both diallos and alexander had an arc, learned something about themselves, and died happy with the choices they made in life, and then went on to pass the inner strength, courage, and compassion they learned onto jar bairn, so that they could be stronger going forward than either of them. it's a really compelling ending and makes all the characters involved feel a lot more real with the problems and journeys they go on, compared to a character like seigmeyer that legitimately just ends with him dying because he was sad that he was incompetent.
Man, you must have MURDERED book reports. I remember in 6th grade I whole heartedly wrote that Train Kept A Rollin by Aerosmith was about a train that went all night long. I appreciate the post. I found the whole thing funny as they're talking jars and Alexander is dope and I didn't know he died (idc that I know now)
I do think that it is still bittersweet. Diallos was just about to discover his path. He could have been a protector. A lord, to them. Alexander died a warrior. However, he could have lived and seek more strength. Maybe to spar again or live to see his people but I still respected his choice.
it's made better by the fact that Alexander and Diallos were at their very best at the end of their arcs, since they are both now innards for Jar Bairn and the jars were made to be better than their innards that now gives Jar Bairn the chance to be even better the description of Alexander's Innards mention red hair so it's possible that he may have included Radahn in his innards too so Jar Bairn has a chance to be better than Radahn as well. 3 good, honestly respectable heroes living on in a certain sense as a single being with the chance to become something better than they could've been in their own lives is honestly super wholesome comepared to most Fromsoft questlines.
I'm so glad they patched in new quest stuff While its lame that it wasnt there on launch its good to have it now Literally got in a dumb arguement just yesterday where everyone kept saying the questlines were all completed already

Spoilers ahead You get the option to give Alexanders remains to Bairn at the end, this definitely have more to it. No idea how Diallos came back tho, might be bug since he got added back maybe. Kinda curious how it all plays out now with the mannor quests. I got two whips tho so that is nice "shrug"
Boc has a happy ending, you have to avoid giving him a Larval Tear and instead use the Prattling Pate: You're Beautiful on him. Melina gives you the hint to do so if you meet Boc again in Altus after giving him the golden needle.
So,here's sad fact. Diallos is the only reason they have to die, you can complete Jar bairn quest by just giving him Alexander's innards. So yeah, even when he's just existing he will ruin other people's lives.
Wish there was some questlines that rather than abruptly ending if you dont help them progress, they instead would have different outcomes or even divided quest lines. Like torwards the end of Scarlet rot girls quest, you could convince her to keep the needle in if you found a way to show her that her father was still alive, then she becomes a summon for a later fight, shows up later in the shack with the old man and gives you something. Or actually make the Blood faction have something you get from pvp that you can turn in for items. Along side this, add more factions to fight for, increase invasion sizes to 3 or 4. This in turn gives more reason to do it besides grinding rune arcs. Grinding runes from pvp is slower than most end game farm areas, so its not the best for that. Hell, could even have a whole story line where you side with some of the bosses to make them lords (kind of like Ranni's quest line) In a way, it feels like Godrich may have something intended to do in his castle area due to the passification in his throne room. Seems so random that it might have been something at one point. Or how about finding a possible way to stop Radahn's scarlet rot and have him send you on a quest to kill the source in Caelid. This could drain the swamp and also lead to him sending assistance in your fight torwards Malenia. So many things that could make this game better. Its an amazing game that can have so much more.
Millicent's questline does have two endings, but betraying her actually reveals lore. Her "Father" is actually a rot cultist, killing him reveals he's actually a bug man, and his real body is somewhere else, he'll respawn later. Betraying Millicent is part of his plan to turn her into a Valkyrie.

The way the jar moves it's little feet when it's sitting 😭😭😭😭
As a Scottish person it brings me great delight to see people using the word "Bairn", its one of my favourite Scottish words, alongside "jobbie"
Alexander mightve believed a warrior fights alone to begin with but along his journey he learned he fights with the spirits of all the warriors he's consumed. Our little jar friend won't be alone for long.
Hold your head high Diallos, you lived a coward but died a hero.
I won't cry. I'm a warrior jar..
Dude as usual you are the Goat so glad i subbed!
people calling this a sad ending really are on some shit
it says it right in the companion jar talisman description, "Perhaps they were made to be better than their innards."
alexander wasn't strong, but did everything he could to be, and ultimately is still grateful to the player for having something to aspire to and serve as inspiration. diallos is almost the opposite, where he thought he was stronger than he was, due to the insecurities he had from growing up a spoiled brat. over the course of his story he learns to leave that behind him and accept that he might not be strong, but he can at least learn to fight for what he believes in.
the important part is that both diallos and alexander had an arc, learned something about themselves, and died happy with the choices they made in life, and then went on to pass the inner strength, courage, and compassion they learned onto jar bairn, so that they could be stronger going forward than either of them. it's a really compelling ending and makes all the characters involved feel a lot more real with the problems and journeys they go on, compared to a character like seigmeyer that legitimately just ends with him dying because he was sad that he was incompetent.
Man, you must have MURDERED book reports. I remember in 6th grade I whole heartedly wrote that Train Kept A Rollin by Aerosmith was about a train that went all night long.
I appreciate the post. I found the whole thing funny as they're talking jars and Alexander is dope and I didn't know he died (idc that I know now)
Agreed, Siegmeyer's is a good example of playing with a player's mind, "I'm helping him therefore this quest will be the best of the endings"
I do think that it is still bittersweet. Diallos was just about to discover his path. He could have been a protector. A lord, to them. Alexander died a warrior. However, he could have lived and seek more strength. Maybe to spar again or live to see his people but I still respected his choice.
It's still sad
it's made better by the fact that Alexander and Diallos were at their very best at the end of their arcs, since they are both now innards for Jar Bairn and the jars were made to be better than their innards that now gives Jar Bairn the chance to be even better
the description of Alexander's Innards mention red hair so it's possible that he may have included Radahn in his innards too so Jar Bairn has a chance to be better than Radahn as well. 3 good, honestly respectable heroes living on in a certain sense as a single being with the chance to become something better than they could've been in their own lives is honestly super wholesome comepared to most Fromsoft questlines.
The side stories in this game are so good holy
To get to the point where Diallos is on the ground you just need to go to jarburg during nighttime to trigger it.
Here's to Potentate Diallos, may his hands remain silky smooth forever more.
damn i ended up doing this. hit me right in the heart what a bittersweet ending for diallos
This has to be the most wholesome quest in the whole game.
Feel sad for diallos, thought he was a pansy at first but I was wrong
I think jar bairn using dialos as innards is a form of respect, honouring him as a champion
This is the one quest that fuckin got me man.
You are amazing! Thanks for all the guides you made. It really did not just help me, but helped thousands of people. You are the true champion!
I'm so glad they patched in new quest stuff
While its lame that it wasnt there on launch its good to have it now
Literally got in a dumb arguement just yesterday where everyone kept saying the questlines were all completed already
You're telling me after 200 hrs of playing I still never ran into the town of Jars called JARBURG? Bruh this game is massive and I just love it lol
I think this was the new patch that just happened
They must've originally cut it out
@@feliusv1686 Jarburg was in the game before the patch, just not the questline
@@slippy5849 gotcha man there's so much to find
@@feliusv1686 No problem man, I didn't find this place until today either, the scope of this game is absurd
The game often looks so cinematic and color pleasing to the eye
"The tale of House Hoslow is told in blood." Diallos, you are a hero !
This is hands down, the best channel for Elden Ring guides. Thank you Games from Mars.
I can't tell you how annoyed I am with everyone else who has to shamelessly promote their bullshit for 5 minutes then finally show you how to do whatever it is you clicked on the video in the first place for. You are the best.
Thus us the most wholesome story ever told. We need a warrior jar clan.
Oh man, this hurt on my feels :(, R.I.P Diallos, you are a good man...
The moment of realization that a good amount of mobs we encounter are actually people. The small jars are actually children.
Now I feel weird
I must say that telling Diallos that he didnt protect any jars while he's dying is incredibly cruel and sad. 😢
I was wondering where to give the innards... Thank you for this video!
Love their story!
Spoilers ahead
You get the option to give Alexanders remains to Bairn at the end, this definitely have more to it. No idea how Diallos came back tho, might be bug since he got added back maybe. Kinda curious how it all plays out now with the mannor quests. I got two whips tho so that is nice "shrug"
If you go to the place where diallos’s dead body was before giving jar Bairn Alexander’s remains he only drops his mask and not the whip or rune
Can we get a happy ending at least once
Boc has a happy ending, you have to avoid giving him a Larval Tear and instead use the Prattling Pate: You're Beautiful on him. Melina gives you the hint to do so if you meet Boc again in Altus after giving him the golden needle.
@@proudlarry8225
He and Ranni are the only ones lol
Everyone else dies or suffers a fate worse than death...
@@yurifairy2969 Rya has a happy one as well
The jellyfish has a happy ending
@@shadp7552 You find them both in a grave that says they never actually got to the stars :/
"I miss uncle Alexander" me with warrior jar shard in inventory
Yeah
it was so wholesome but then I remember this is a soulsborne game and wholesome means death
Dios, imposible que no se te salga una lágrima con esta quest 😔🔫
I hope we see more of Jar-Bairn in later updates
I'm convinced that we'll see a grown-up Bairn in a future DLC or Elden Ring 2.
"Behold, Champion ahead"
When Jar-Bairn imitates Alexander... that is so funny but also very moving.
appreciate the fast upload
So,here's sad fact. Diallos is the only reason they have to die, you can complete Jar bairn quest by just giving him Alexander's innards.
So yeah, even when he's just existing he will ruin other people's lives.
Cruel...
That's why I hate him so much.
@@c0mmas its not his fault a bunch of poachers attacked them. Sometimes sad things happen.
Never before have I cried to a video game quest.
This broke me.
Damn I had the wrong idea about diallos. I thought he was just a pathetic guy but this part of the quest changed my view on him.
I was really hoping Diallos would be turned into one of jar men
I think its implied the Jar kid takes him inside of himself so he kinda becomes a jar person.
He died a hero, and helped me with my dual frost/bleed whip build, rest in peace diallos
Betraying Millicent is part of his plan to turn her into a Valkyrie.
godrick's throne room is used in a quest, it also got patched and fixed in the same update that fixed the quest in this video.
"What a terrible day for rain."
this game man! almost 3 weeks out and we still find new things in it!
Well.. it's new because it had to be patched in lol. We knew about this stuff as cut content in the files, but it wasn't active.
The tale of House Hoslow is told in blood.
Diallos was a hero... I just couldn't see it yet.
Its so bittersweet, this is an awesome quest line
I think this jar knows something about Mother Kos.
Thanks for showing that last clip of what happens if you tell the truth that he did not save all the jars so we don't have to.
Me when I first find Jarburg: *giggles* Funny name.
Me after this questline: *sob* Why?
So poetic the End of Diallos
And this is another plotline you can complete after finishing the game, which is nice.
I remember finally killing Elemer of the Briar and wanting to go to Jarburg to cool off and to see some wholesome jars. Teleported there and saw the aftermath of the massacre... Man I was not happy, it made my victory over Elemer feel hollow
I thought diallos was a wimp, this changed my mind
2:44 visions of Alexander
i got stuck please help. After i talked with the mini jar he keeps talking about poachers and not diallos. I already met diallos is volcano manor and after going to mountain of giants he keeps talking about poachers. Help please
Bairn won't talk about Alexander, hence Diallos' questline won't progress. What can I do?
Yes, I have rested and traveled and changed time of da
Did you meet Alexander?
@@GamesfromMarsYT I don't have the "Triumphant delight" pose, but he's not stuck in the mud anymore. Can that be, if I didn't kill him?
Edit:
Ah! I found him scavenging near Radahn's site of grace. Presumably because I hadn't interacted with him before, at all.
