I've been waiting for you to do this review Mark! I have a Chopin, as well as a Blessing 2 Dusk, and was considering my next purchase. I love your even-handed reviews and whilst our tuning preferences do not always coincide, I trust your take. Thanks for the video.
@@Hookut I love the Chopin. It is my daily driver. I don't exactly have golden ears so take the following with a grain of salt. For me, the bass is more clearly defined and separated with the Chopin compared to the Dusk where it is a bit muddier. For me, the Dusk has a warmer tonality which does make for very easy midrange listening (vocals). In terms of treble, both are good. I say "good" because I also have a Timeless and for me the detail in the Timeless' treble is extraordinary (I was blown away listening to Hotel California for the 1st time). However, there is one area where the Chopin just beats the Dusk, hands down, and that is the comfort. The Dusk nozzles are just too big to be comfortable for long periods of time. So it is an easy decision to choose the Chopin every time. With that being said, if you already have a Dusk then I think that the Chopin might be a side-grade for you.
One of the best innovations here is the cable. The terminations screw on, which is so much better than other modular cables that come apart when I pull them out of the socket.

Hi Mark. I've heard you say you prefer the SE jack a couple of times already, and I'm a relatively new subscriber. Can you elaborate on that, please? I would really appreciate your opinion since you seem way more reasonable than most other RUclipsrs who just praise every new fad in audio like it's the second coming of Christ.
I prefer 3.5mm because it's more compatible -- I can go from my DAP, to my laptop, to phone dongle, etc. via 3.5mm. Balanced is a waste of time, worse volume control for IEMs, more chance of hearing noise floor, and for what? It doesn't improve sound quality.
DaVinci has stronger separation between sounds, more incisive, while Meteor is a more atmospheric sound. Generally DaVinci is a more "natural" tune, while Meteor is kinda esoteric. That said, I find Meteor pretty special sounding and don't have issues with the treble timbre, so I prefer it personally.
Still rocking the ie600 and my backup is a Oriveti OH700. Sold the meteor and all other midfi sets. Looking at a supernova or perhaps even a used Tia trio as prices are finally coming down.
How these new ~300 usd iems compare to older (and good) stuff? Such as softears Volume! Softears seems relevant, specially with the current discounts...
I really dont know if i should get the DaVinci or the Hype4. Without considering the price, which one would you get? (I like bass a lot, and i dont like when the cymbals hit and they break my ears)
I found the fit on the Chopin quite tricky, I ended up using ddHiFi ST35 tips which are a narrow bore tip similar to Final E / Sony EP-EX11 but also have that SpinFit notch in the stem which allows them to rotate. I get a good seal and deep fit with these. As you probably know, usually lean smaller tip for a deeper fit.
@SuperReview give the Penon Liqueur a chance... I have them now on my SA6 MkII and they're the best sounding so far, outperforming S&S and the previously best, the Velvets.
We've known this for some time as his preferences were shown in a gizaudio graph. If you look at his preferred target it's near flat on bass and a rise between 1k-3k before gradually lowering. His taste is anything but average and shows a clear direction with a preference for vocals and treble with an apparent dislike for bass.
@@karolkedzierski5824It's pretty obvious what he's talking about. He's talking about midbass tucks, dry and thin sounding mids and keeping the bass waaaay up in the subbass region and keeping the midbass sterile in the name of separation.. That's not Harman. But you'd have to be pretty autistic to not know what he's referring to
@@karolkedzierski5824 there are these Harman-inspired features, the downward slope from 1khz to 300hz, and the midbass scoop, that is present a quite a bunch of iems. variations, chopin, singolo, truthear zero blue, blessing 2 dusk, blessing 3, moondrop dusk analog. It is primarily these feature, that have come to define the Harman sound, and it is these feature that the new meta is moving away from.
Hype4 user here, and just my opinion only : Collabs on Dunu is getting really odd, at least seeing how gizaudio didnt review the hype4s , but one video pointing out that monarch mk 3 arent better than mk2...... And i would, personally stay clear, until someone , like Super review or others chime in with a level detail comparison as much as possible before even considering the next purchase. One can have a preference for being bass head or tremble , but what sound stage and thump feeling, should be universally, on a scale with songs that everyone can try to relate to. But if just merely pushing collabs, not having indepth explaination nor comparison on where things got adjust, smells just a quick buck name shelling. im am standing corrected if its not the case, and i do apologize , however, thats just what i am feeling from the collab works, these days. At least, crinicale, has data and other stuff to back up his collab. again, my own 2cents on dunu x whatever.
This is pretty unique because it's tuned to jm1. Most IEM tunings have weird upper mids and sucked out low mids with too much 1-2k energy. This as well as dusk dsp and mega5est doesn't do this and it sounds very natural and true to life.
the davinci has the same overall basis for the tuning as the crinacle's dusk, ie, the JM1 target, or a tilted diffuse field target on the 5128. It is just that davinci has more bass and more treble; timmy prefers his iems to be more v-shaped than crinacle, in general. also remember that timmy is closely related to crinacle; timmy works for crinacle, so they must share the same knowledge base.
@obamanews2556 @haomingli6175 . Interesting. Didnt expect that Giz was working for Crinacle. Is there any proof to this ...? Again, not to piss any timmy's fans or supporters, it seems timmy has been just inputting 10% effort to maximize returns, not a problem but seems .....fake-ish, try hard ?. Collabs do work, as pointed out by Crinicle and his recent video, ive no problems. However it just. feels GizA has been stiring more favourably towards the Dunu, if he is true , then the older thieaudio or other reviews seems to be in exact polar opposite [ some i do reference ,in-ear festish, audio in reviews] Im not audiophile person, but jumping from Sonys Noise cancelling xm3 to 4 , to headphones to first IEM [ KZ, yep, just testing] to Aful p5 [ 2nd hand but WORTH every penny] then to a mid-tier-end game like H4. and going through all the different existing IEM reviewers, those on the Hype4 reviews, mostly had decently put it a top tier for that price bracket, and it makes sense comparing, their review with mk3 and other higher priced or similar sounding IEM. That is consistent. But back to GizA, its just dropping ...... i apologize again, but its my own view .
@@jfox8888 i honestly don't understand what you are saying, mostly. I will respond to parts that I think I understood. timmy edits videos for crinacle. I forgot where I heard/saw this, but this is well-known in the community. timmy is not alone in preferring monarch mk ii over mk iii. a few other reviewers do the same, like jaysaudio. also timmy doesn't like dunu falcon ultra all that well. check out his ranking list. it is a b-tier with a personal enjoyment rating of 5.5 out of 10. he does like sa6mkii and sa6 ultra, but these two are also well-regarded in the community. why do you think he puts in little effort into collabs? it is standard practice in the community to not compare your own collabs with other iems. it is a conflict of interest and unfair to the other products compared to. the comparison will be left for other reviewers, like this video. this is totally justified if you are doing collabs. and I have already said, the basis of the davinci's tuning is very similar crinacle's new dusk. it is just the new meta that super review is talking about, tilted diffuse field. on top of that, timmy adds his own preference, more bass and more treble. likewise, the basis of chopin's tuning is Harman, again with a bit of adjustment to make it suit his own tastes better.
@@haomingli6175 in summary, timmy is shelling out for Dunu too much too hard, and pushing low quality video by rushing out. Better put now ? The way he has be glossing over stuff recently, skipping more well known and well recived iems from the community had me fell that way not my intent to, but that is , base from consolidating my current own IEMS , researching and listening from different reviewers. Ive been looking for an IEM with GOOD MIDBASS rather than sub-bass. I have the Origin and I feel like they dont have as much midbass as I want. I was on the fence for the Hype 4 but I think Da Vinci is the one for me!! Thanks for the comparisons especially against the Hype 4!
@@audio_tron In my personal opinion, YES I am very happy with the Origin. If I could describe it simply is that it is CLEAN/SMOOTH. The midbass is there but I would like to have a little bit more. This may be a hot take, but I like it as much as the Aful Performer 8 which is also a very good IEM, but the Origin is cheaper but sounds just as good!

Take a shot everytime he says Bassy. 😂 btw I'm curious to see how it compares to another BASSY set the new Simgot EM10.
All these are 'safely' above my budget but great review nonetheless. Hype 4 cable looks pretty nice.
The problem we have got as customers is ,we all have to buy blind .99 % of the reviews for these are overwhelmingly fantastic .I would not dream of spending this much on a pair of Iem's, but i may get these .
Hello guys which set is better, Truthear Hexa + Fiio ka17 or Binary Chopin + 20$ dongle dac (apple dac)
210$ overall
hexa + apple dongle
Any plans on reviewing the Aful Explorer?
Yes.
Love the honest reviews, l believed all these sets are amazing IEMs, this ia a nit picks for more or less in the mix only .it all depends on what music you are listen to Thank You.
Da Vinci vs sa6 mk2?
How do the Softear Volumes compare to the Davinci?
Been a while since I heard Volume, but it's a brighter, more forward midrange sound with less bass.
@SuperReview Really appreciate the reply! 😊👍
i'd like to hear your thoughts on the dita project m and compare it to pilgrim and ea1000
Insightful review! How would you compare these with the symphonium meteors?
Softears seems relevant, specially with the current discounts...
i wont write long reviews abt it, list is understandable enough
I really dont know if i should get the DaVinci or the Hype4. Without considering the price, which one would you get? (I like bass a lot, and i dont like when the cymbals hit and they break my ears)
Canon 2 :)
@@lokrj I didn't know about them until this video, I will check them out
I was curious what tips were you using with Chopin?
Been trying out different ones for better seal/ depth.
Candy tips dont work with it for me
These are JVC Spiral Dots++ (small)
I found the fit on the Chopin quite tricky, I ended up using ddHiFi ST35 tips which are a narrow bore tip similar to Final E / Sony EP-EX11 but also have that SpinFit notch in the stem which allows them to rotate. I get a good seal and deep fit with these. As you probably know, usually lean smaller tip for a deeper fit.
Good review
Thanks
Which one would you prefer or more "tolerable" to listen to? Dunu DaVinci or Vulkan?
The real question is - are any of these worth the premium over Simgot SuperMix 4?…
Hi, how's it compared to doscinco?
@SuperReview give the Penon Liqueur a chance... I have them now on my SA6 MkII and they're the best sounding so far, outperforming S&S and the previously best, the Velvets.
I like a longer nozzle so dont think these will fit too well
Davinci or Hype 4 for vocals? Specifically female vocals?
This confirms that Mark doesn't like bass as much as treble. smh. The bass vs treble wars rage on.
Everything with the slightest amount of bass is too much lol. I'll take all that bass over here please!
@@someoneusa I was kidding. Super review enjoys good bass and sometimes lots of bass but it's about what the iem is trying to do.
He likes well defined textured bass, as natural as it can get w/o sounding like a home theater variations sub bass type of sound.
@@KaoruSugimuraAnd yet he loved the meteor and kinda lava
when dita project m review coming?
All IEMs are now just returning to the BLON 03 tuning lol. Harman messed everyone up for a while
'Scammed' would be a more appropriate verb.
There are just a couple iems that are Harman tuned. Actually only the Nova is a typical Harman 2019. What are you even talking about?
@@karolkedzierski5824It's pretty obvious what he's talking about.
He's talking about midbass tucks, dry and thin sounding mids and keeping the bass waaaay up in the subbass region and keeping the midbass sterile in the name of separation..
That's not Harman. But you'd have to be pretty autistic to not know what he's referring to
@karolkedzierski5824 well said
@@karolkedzierski5824 there are these Harman-inspired features, the downward slope from 1khz to 300hz, and the midbass scoop, that is present a quite a bunch of iems. variations, chopin, singolo, truthear zero blue, blessing 2 dusk, blessing 3, moondrop dusk analog. It is primarily these feature, that have come to define the Harman sound, and it is these feature that the new meta is moving away from.
Are they as good as the Project M?
more bass then ZiiGaat Doscinco??
I'd like to know as well
Hype4 user here, and just my opinion only : Collabs on Dunu is getting really odd, at least seeing how gizaudio didnt review the hype4s , but one video pointing out that monarch mk 3 arent better than mk2......
However it just. feels GizA has been stiring more favourably towards the Dunu, if he is true , then the older thieaudio or other reviews seems to be in exact polar opposite [ some i do reference ,in-ear festish, audio in reviews]
Im not audiophile person, but jumping from Sonys Noise cancelling xm3 to 4 , to headphones to first IEM [ KZ, yep, just testing]
to Aful p5 [ 2nd hand but WORTH every penny]
then to a mid-tier-end game like H4.
and going through all the different existing IEM reviewers, those on the Hype4 reviews, mostly had decently put it a top tier for that price bracket, and it makes sense comparing, their review with mk3 and other higher priced or similar sounding IEM.
@@haomingli6175
in summary, timmy is shelling out for Dunu too much too hard, and pushing low quality video by rushing out. Better put now ?
The way he has be glossing over stuff recently, skipping more well known and well recived iems from the community had me fell that way
not my intent to, but that is , base from consolidating my current own IEMS , researching and listening from different reviewers.

Is the Dusk DSP tuning more detailed than DaVinci?
Ive been looking for an IEM with GOOD MIDBASS rather than sub-bass. I have the Origin and I feel like they dont have as much midbass as I want. I was on the fence for the Hype 4 but I think Da Vinci is the one for me!! Thanks for the comparisons especially against the Hype 4!
FiiO FH7S is less than 300 these days. Midbass cannon.
@@FabioKasper Thanks for the recommendation!! I'll check it out!
Are you happy with the Origin aside from its shortage of mid bass?
@@audio_tron In my personal opinion, YES I am very happy with the Origin. If I could describe it simply is that it is CLEAN/SMOOTH. The midbass is there but I would like to have a little bit more. The treble and mid range is PHENOMINAL for it's price range. This may be a hot take, but I like it as much as the Aful Performer 8 which is also a very good IEM, but the Origin is cheaper but sounds just as good!
what a super review!
Miss you bud 🤙
I love bassy :)
So it's not an alternative to the Sony XBA-N3? That's a bummer 😔
buying this at some point after my Pilgrim purchase, giving it a bit since im broke lol
Pace yourself, audiophilia is a marathon, not a sprint 🏃♂️
@@SuperReview lol yeah, I don't really have much after DaVinci tbh, probs the EM10 at some point but I really wanna own a Mest MK2, taking it slow and steady
How much better do they sound on a desktop Amp/Dac?
Why would they?
@@SuperReview You'd think so.
What ear tips do you have on them?
In this video, those are Softears Ultra Clears.
@@SuperReview Is it woth the extra money to buy eartips just for the sound or is using a EQ just as good?
@@reinaert.c6253 EQ is going to make 100x the difference than ear tips most of the times. I usually pick tips for fit.
@@SuperReview Thank you, just bought the dunu daVinci. Im really looking forward to it and your video helped a lot to make the decision.
You should review the Rhapsody. OK...at $35...there's little money in it, I imagine.
wow you got the serial no.1
I went with azla crystal which sounded fuller imo. also maybe you dont believe in cable but the stock one yes it will make the treble a bit scratchy as you described, after some cable rolling i settled on a pure silver one with pure copper 4.4 plug which makes the treble much more pleasant.
I am more excited about this purchase than anything else I've bought in the last year. I was all set to buy the Hisenior Mega5 EST, but now I think I'll get the DaVinci, then the Megafest, and finally the Pilgrim. This should be a nice ride over the next couple of months!
Wow Mark, your Y splitter show, 00001 , may be your’s is 1st Davcinci IEM😎
May-bee
Cable looks too thick I don't understand why you'd want a big heavy cable on portable in ear headphones.
You can get the thin cable you want in the 64Audio line up. They are quite famous and easy to buy anywhere.
Dita project M when ?
You missing the Simgot EM10. Maybe it’s a contender
There are only like 3 reviewers who got that set early
Please review the Supermix 4!
Yeah that color you got is kind of dull but it does go well with your hair and looks nice overall in your ears.
Mine should show up in a day or two....it wants me to have moar bass.
Oh it got bass.
How big is the nozzle?
I measured 6.5mm at the widest part (lip).
@@SuperReview thank you!!
DaVinci looks like way too much midbass for me... Always hard to review such a hyped iem.

I think i found a new iem for competitive games

Ouch only 3 stars? I fell in love with it the moment my music started playing. It's a 5 star iem for me! But hey this hobby is super subjective, so to each their own.
16:39 Can you spell that?
For us normal people who love bass - this or a maestro mini?
DA VINKY?! :0
Instead of dunu, they should have written DaVinci. and in a different, more sophisticated font
This or symphonium titan
I haven't heard Titan.
