You’re a good dude Steve. How many HVAC companies would tell a customer that they should keep the unit until it dies.... Most of these leeches would have been salivating to sell that man a super duper 52 SEER self cleaning system with 18 zones and a weather tent.
Customer would save half on their electric bill by proactively changing these out. They are going to die middle of the summer and customer will be without ac in the busiest time of the year.
timothy lussier And what crystal ball are you looking thru to determine when the unit is going to die? How did you determine how much he will save on his electric bill? Oh, that’s right, you actually DON’T know, you are just speculating and fear mongering like most HVAC salesmen.
@@GrifFungin i would run the systems till they die and have a yearly pm done to them to make sure there arnt any surprises coming up just because its old dosnt mean it needs to be replaced if its in good shape and working properly. My grandmother had 2 refrigerators one from the 50s and one from the 80s they both ran flawlessly until 2017 when the comoressor grounded on theb80s fridge the 50s fridge is still running perfactly also theybhave an 80s chest deep freezer works perfactly. The ac system is an old 79 rheem never needed any major repair or needed any charge added to they system its a 3 phased unit everytime they come and check it the unit is on perfect health other then being old nothing worng with it. So just because something is old does not mean it needs to be replaced when it becomes problematic then change it. Oh by the way my grannys electric bill never goes over 250 and thats 3 ton unit outside run about 70.
@@tlusmc22 Has lasted 33 years already; nothing to indicate it's on its way out. I am not sure they would save much either, especially since it would cost thousands to replace and likely not even last as long as the one already installed will continue to, and from an efficiency standpoint since R22 cools far better than R134a.
Just replaced my 1986 trane this spring. Doubt the new unit will last 32 years. The trane was still running but would dim the lights of the whole neighborhood everytime it started, even with a hard start kit.
Love the setup you're using. I'm currently going to a tech school for HVAC and that setup looks like it'll make servicing a unit a million times easier.
At work we have a commercial Carrier with rebuild-able compressor. Thing has run 20 years and had one fan replaced and a contactor in all that time. I tried to have other units replaced with same but of course low bid always win's where I work.
Where is this eastern Kentucky? With the chickens? No the cooling season is to long for those relics to survive. I've seen those Carriers in the past but I've never seen that model Johnson unit. Utility companies love those units.
Says something that they could survive being overcharged and not leak the Freon out. I would personally rather have an older system that's worked for 40 years than a new one.
I am putting in a Ductless, can you tell me how to get my Wife to like the Indoor Air Handler? She fights me so much I can even get it done.... 😤 Good videos man, I enjoy watching..... peace.
We all know, if it's not cooling, it needs a little more gas, lol. Since people are selling it for over 100 a lb, everyone needs at least a lb every visit.
Tom Garabed Because why would he pay a customer, for something he has to pay to dispose of. He can't resell it. Or re use it in another unit. That's law...

These old units lasted so long! If you get 10 years out of a new one that's a miracle.

that's funny!
Maybe, but she was a meter spinner to be sure.
5 2 1, but that didnt help amp draw after the start.

I like the looks of the round condenser. Good video, Steven,

Well the old relic is not a leaker so that's a plus.
Oldie but goodie. That lasted over thirty years. You’d be lucky to have a micro channel condenser last three with no leaks!
The old Carrier units lasted for quite a long time. That's one of the oldest I have seen though, 32 years wow. Keep them going another season.
Really cool old carrier round one
We used to have three then they all started dying ours still had the carrier sticker on the top but we got all three replaced with newer carriers
That old Carrier and Lennox is still going strong. Nice to see Baby in this video.
every call ive ever had on those round ones that old. have been locked up compressors. 32 years old. could die any day. thats for sure.
still running strong go figure ..
That was the old Carrier...
Value Testers is back. As are the hens and Baby.
Great job Steve and it's so true temperatures are never perfect pressures are never perfect but good job on that
Nice to see Babydog sniffing the environment. Lots to read overthere.
Oh..you are a gem fixing that freezout part....

Appreciate the videos Steve🙏 keep them coming learning something new every video.
When you took out the extra Freon the compressor got louder.
The Extra Freon was choking it down...
valuetesters are back

Are you going to quote new gear. It’s time Steve. Plus you need to pay for the vangina repairs. 👍
So did I!!

Looks like a old Amana condensed unit.
Love the chickens
Steve, do you pay the customer for the gas that you take out of the unit?
Tom Garabed fuck no
Well I guess there's another dumb ass question for ya Steve..
@@charlesmalinoski6325 and why is that a dumb question???

@@charlesmalinoski6325 OK thanks for clearing that up for me!!! You see you didn't need to get condescending about your first reply!!!!
You'll be running no heats before you know it .
That system is a Carrier Round One
Sorry it’s a carrier unit.
Nice chicken fence, Steve. It’ll keep them coyotes out!😂
Old 6-8 SEER Carrier.
How old is the AC system?
1986 out side condencer round one ..= 32 years old

Ole Carrier & Magic Chef --Still cooling after 30 years. GJ ~Steven Lav.
yes both running and no leaks .pretty amazing i must say
it probably lasted that long due to mild summers up in Mass?
They sure don’t make them like they used to
