    I like that you don't specify oversized A/C units and you're honest about everything. In our new house ours is actually quite oversized unfortunately. We did extra insulations and such for comfort throughout and I'm not sure they accounted for it all. It will still cycle on and off on stage 1 never reaching stage 2 in summer in Florida. It's a 4 ton 2 stage. 2000 Sq ft. We run 74 degrees.

      The condenser in this video is actually a 1995 model. The "84" at the beginning of the serial number is the factory/plant code (84 codes for Bellevue, OH). The "95E" following the "84" in the serial number codes that this was produced during May, 1995. Still a fairly old system nonetheless

    As a tech before anything i check compressor terminals way before i reset the breaker. If the breaker poped i never reset until i check all the wires and terminals . Then i replace the cap , then i turn on the breaker. Then i say Its dead, and when i do test a compressor i check its amperage as i turn the unit on to just confirm .

      Exactly what I was thinking. Had the side of the unit open with the compressor sitting right in front of him. Should have looked to see what size capacitor the HERM required instead of guessing. But then again I don't think I have ever seen any one on any of these RUclips videos check the motor for info. Compressor looks to be a Copeland recip Use a approved 5.2.1 start kit & not the non approved 2 wire type.
    2nd generally on and only on recip compressors, what ever the btu rating it, remove the last 3 digits 3, and that generally is the cap size. ex 24k=25mfd 34k=35mfd 48k=50mfd

      Replacing the entire unit inside and out. That is an r22 unit and if the compressor blows everything is contaminated. The evaporator inside is not compatible with new 410a refrigerant.

    • @dock_yard1149
      @dock_yard1149 2 года назад +2

      If you don't break that circuit before you test, you'll possibly be sensing the microfarads back to the power source, not the microfarads of the capacitor ... Make sure you're testing the cap dead-ended.
