Who remembers Omar Hakim with sting ????
Solo in "I burn for you" ❤
The guy who came in and re-recorded all of the drum tracks on Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms album in a few days. The only thing the original drummer did that remained on the track was the intro to Money for Nothing. Everything else was Omar.
Byt Terry Williams is better live drummer. 😎
@@TheAatupaatuThan who!? Lol😅
Everytime I hear Omar speak he amazes me. Humble and very personable. Excellent interview and great wisdom
Omar was the first drummer I admired who can lock tempo but hit snares and toms ahead or behind the beat to create excitement - back in the Sting years. Awesome dude!
100% on the safety net kids…smash it!🙂👍❤️
Been a fan since his collab w Sting. He's always smiling...which i admire more. Respect
Omar was incredible to meet, and interview! A living legend.
Saw Omar at North SeaJazz ‘84 with WeatherReport and around “90/91 same festval with Shorter,Hancock,Clarke,Hakim amazingggg
I love Omar! He always has that huge smile, super positive vibes and that joy is effusive in his amazing playing!
His solo with all the greats on the live Cantaloupe Island performance is mind blowing...the old vid of Sting Bring on the night, mind blowing...Buddy Rich memorial concert...he is just always at the top. Thank you Omar for your music.
Great person.., always making intelligent and objective comments in his interviews. Outstanding musician/drummer as well! An inspiration.! Greetings from San Jose, Costa Rica. Blessings.!
IMHO Chambers, Mangini and Hakim is one of the best line ups you can think about. All so different, but all genius.
Lots of talent!
Omar Hakim was great playing live with Rush last year, would be cool to see some small project with Geddy and Alex
Man, I love Omar. Just a great, smart guy with amazing musical abilities and countless great recorded performances. His signature Pearl snare from back in the day is one of my favorites, too.
One of our best selling snares!
He never ceases to amaze me. Been a fan of him since seeing him on the Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship concert. His performances and interviews are just inspiring!
Such a great talent!❤️
This interview with Omar was truly inspiring, and I've been following his career since the 80s. No matter what your age, or what field your passion lies in....this advice should be noticed and taken to heart.
Greetings from Port Elizabeth, South Africa 🇿🇦
His comments on the “safety net” were put so beautifully

@@thomasweinmann5375 Every question is great when Omar Hakim is the one answering!!
Another interesting but, in depth, interview with another inspiring great groove machine, Omar Hakim. Candid and down to earth. Thank you for sharing this. It was most informative.
Thank you for watching!
Omar's playing on Dave Grusin's Migration, song called T.K.O. always makes me want to (attempt) to play along.
The beginning drum beat sounds they were going to play the 80's song
" In a Big Country "
So rad!
In that clip, Omar is demonstrating his part in Let's Dance by David Bowie.
@@SteveWeissMusic in the early 90s I was so captivated by his videos on VHS that were put out by DCI. I was 20 or 21 years old and you could walk into any Guitar Center in California and they would have Omar and Dave weckl a continuous loop. It was a wonderful time to be doing Studio work. Have a wonderful summer guys
Must have been amazing to be there!! What a legend!

I never thought he’s a good drummer. Very average drummer that u meet in guitar center or Sam ash

Yeah, Zawinul and Shorter always picked their average drummers at a local music store 🙄
