    I have the Explorer and I love it. I’m an older rider 53 so I mostly like to carve up the runs, but I still jib some too. This board I very forgiving and transitions edges easily. It’s probably the last board I’ll have to buy. Great review I didn’t know about the name change before I watched. Glad to see it’s still in production.

    I demoed this board, 158W, at Mammoth (Wave Rave, good people!) . I'm a progressing intermediate rider, and immediately was impressed with this boards carving ability. I was laying down euro trenches all day, so fun! Contrary to @Angry Snowboarder I found it fairly damp. I was plowing through the afternoon chunder with ease and didn't feel much chatter when I was charging down the bowl. Could've been the the wide board making it more stiff, not sure. But overall I was very pleased with the quality ride this board delivered. I didn't hit anything more than medium jumps, but with the stability I felt it could've easily handled bigger.

    I've ridden a 159 for the past 3 seasons, (5'9, 160 pounds) It's been my go to board whenever I'm not specifically riding park or pow. It just does everything well. Set it back for the 15 cm or less days (get a proper pow board for the deep stuff), center it for the days I'm riding more switch and tooling around. Otherwise just leave it at the reference stance and this board will treat you right. No surprises, just a damn good all mountain board for the intermediate rider. It's worked really nicely with my Now Drive bindings with the soft bushings for charging a little harder, but I've paired it with Malavitas to be more playful too.

I'm coming off my first board which is a size 144 with a 109 effective edge and a very soft flex, looking for something a bigger and a little stiffer, trying to push myself past the intermediate level. Looking for an all-mountain board that can handle high speeds but also wanna take it in the park and progress on butters, rails and jumps. Would the frontier 152 fit me, or is it too big? I'm also considering the arbor westmark 149 and coda 154. Should I consider womens boards like the arbor swoon at 148 or jones twin sister 149/146? having trouble finding boards for a small rider like myself. any input you have would be much appreciated.

    So I'm looking at this vs. the Mountain Twin. 5'9", 185, 10.5 boot. intermediate rider, blues and blacks. Not super interested in Park. I pretty much stick to groomed runs. Looking to work on my switch game and get into carving. I like the frontier a lot but I also have been told I should look for boards with a 260 waist width due to my boot size. My concern is that the frontier only has a 158wide while the Mnt Twin comes in a 155w. Will the 158 slow me down with the extra length? I think either board would be good for me given my experience/interest. Looking for some opinions on the two boards and the impact of the size difference. Thanks.

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  4 года назад +2

      Unless you have some bulky boot you don't need to be worrying about having a 26.5 waist width. You're going to want the Frontier over the MT it's designed more for what you're mentioning.

      Just get this board. I own one. I currently own 4 boards, get at least 1 or 2 boards a year. Ive been riding for 20 years ~100 days a year. In no way do i notice the chatter even if i completely straight line it and bomb a run on an icy dry cold hard packed day. The tail has a bunch of flex for pop compared to most other free ride focused all mtn boards and unless youre a park rat you wont need more pop in the tail. The way they bevel the nose and tail just make it want to float! I have a 22inch stance and i set it 1 back from reference and It floats more than any other all mtn board ive ever ridden, it floats more than my slash floater, or my k2 turbo dream. I live in the PNW and stevens pass is my local mountain, its filled with drops everywhere, chutes all over the mountain even just off piste of blue runs, spine lines off the ridge, 800 ft chutes, super steep terrain, trees everywhere and giant open powder fields and this board does very well on all of it. You will not be disappointed.

Not really into the park, but I enjoy side hits and the occasional butter/some switch here and there. Mostly like to carve and ride pow when I can. For a beginner who just started last year and caught the bug, do you recommend the Frontier or the Algorythm or something else entirely? East coast groomers, not too much interest in park, or high speed, but more mellow rides down the mountain. Something that’s easy enough to pick up, but will be able to be grown into over the next few years as I develop. Also as a new rider do you recommend that I size down? 6-0 185 and I’ve been learning and had success on a 153 cm, so I’m not sure I’d be comfortable stepping up near a 160. Thanks.

    I am debating between 2020 Jones Frontier and 2020 Yes Typo. I think these 2 boards are pretty comparable to each other and would probably be a pretty good apples to apples comparison seeing as how they are both directional twin boards with camrock profiles, relatively the same flex, same setback stance/inserts and price point. Which edge tech do you like more for a progressing rider...Yes's Underbite or Jone's Traction Tech...?

    Hey, great reviews...always helpful!
    Thinking of buying a Frontier.
    Getting into intermediate riding - no park for me, just cruising groomers and occasional powder when i can find, working on butters but thats it.
    At 75kg, size 10 shoe, JONES website says I am bang in the middle of the 159's weight range.
    You reckon thats the right size for me?
    Cheers!
