The area where the leviathan bones can be found, but solely for the fact that you have to traverse through the sandstorm to get there. Would love a dungeon that utilizes same idea in botw 2
For those who are confused about the comparing East Gerudo Ruins to the Highlands, if you look closely, the entirety of the peaks resembles the top down view of a heroine statue. You can see the top of the head, the arms, and then where the hands meet. The place where the map says "Gerudo Highlands" being the head, then pointing in a southeastern position.
So your saying the Gerudo Highlands text in the head area, and the random triangle up left are where the arms would have met? I think I see what you mean
As a small extension to your theory, maybe the reason they stopped carving the statue and the sword was that it was discovered that Ganondorf had less than honorable intentions. So why finish it when there was no longer any reason to celebrate him. Then they just change the story from the eight heroines to the seven and over time no one remembers there was ever a change to the stories on the heroines. There are plenty of stories in our real world where there are facts and also a story of how it happened where the details differ.
Alternative: the Yiga and/or Ganondorf purposefully "acted" while the Eight Heroine was being carved, so as to keep the statue separate, therefore representing him. Say that the Yiga/Gan. didn't exist yet, and the Gerudo just finished carving the Seventh Heroine. Now, the Yiga/Gan. appear for whatever reason and decide to "act," perhaps like a cou. By waiting till the last moment, they can keep the statue pieces where they are and separate, just like Ganondorf would be opposing what the Gerudo stand for. Now they can utilize that seperateness to gain the literal high-ground as well as the seclusion that provides secrecy. Idk, it makes sense to me 😂
The only issue I have with this idea is that the Eighth Heroine has the exact same carving on her that the 7 do: The Seven Sages, repeated over and over. If she was originally supposed to be part of a collective of eight, why would her own carving seem to deny her existence?
ONE MORE THING! The term used for the heroines in Japanese is gender neutral. Not only that… The statues are cowled and robed, and otherwise androgynous. So their gender is likely being applied by the current Gerudo. Take that Bembridge scholars!!
May be a moot point. As being within the Gerudo region, the Gerudo are 99% Female:1% Male (Every 100 years). There could be males depicted in the statues, but with the history of the Gerudo peoples, the only significant Males they'd depict are Gannondorf or Link/King of Hyrule. Well he did say it was carved out of the rock wall, like it was never moved. So it must have been an additional and even late, addition to the other Heroines. Probably did it for blasphemous purposes.
Zoom your vision out. Look at only one of the statues from above. Take the whole of the map in, instead of looking for smaller pieces. Or, that's what I did, and then it made a lot more sense. 😉 It's still a stretch, but theorising is sooo much fun. 😂
So, if the Gerudo carved an entire mountain to make the heroine statues, they must have had a lot more people when the carving happened, or they would never complete it. Any ideas as to why they’re so much smaller now, even though they weren’t affected by the Calamity 100 years ago and they weren’t cut down to size by a Hylian king, such as the Sheika and Zonai?
They can't breed as fast. Since no Gerudo males are born, Gerudo women have to go out and seek a male from the rest of Hyrule. That takes time and effort.
It could also be that the Statues are older than 10000 years and a lot can happen in that time frame. In fact, based on the fact that there's a Shrine puzzle in the circle it is possible that the statues were already "completed" before the Shrine was put there and the Eighth was already abandoned and forgotten.
Another big event that has been hinted at (primarily in Ocarina of Time) is that Hylians imprisoned and tortured the Gerudo after Gannondorf's evil intentions were discovered. So their race probably took a big hit from that, becoming almost extinct.
"Each heroine had a different power: skill, spirit, endurance, knowledge, flight, motion and gentleness." - Rotana I wonder what the Eight's power was.
@@rooblixkewb7952 Considering that their difficulty rivals that of bosses, and offers even Link- a highly trained hylian soldier based on his skill with weapons- a major challenge, I'd say the Gerudo would be screwed if they happened to show up at the time of carving. It is worth noting that several defeated Lynel can be seen in a memory with Zelda, in the background as she treats his wounds, and this implies he defeated several of them without major injury while also preoccupied with more minor foes (again reflecting his skill in combat), but this is when he had the Master Sword and the Champion's Tunic, even, the highest defense torso armor in the game (without dlc). Their one advantage would be numbers, but a Lynel has incredible crowd-control potential with their large, precise weapons, multi-shot bow capable of hitting multiple targets, and resistance to the elements. This is never readily apparent when Link fights them, though, as 99% of the time it's a 1v1. So yeah, even Urbosa would likely be given a run for their money in a fight against them. And that's including her potential to use the same power they give Link. Oh god I did another braindump again. I put too much effort into RUclips comments...

At 7:25 when you mention that there is space among the seven for the eighth heroine I wanted to add a note. The 8th heroine in it’s location in the highlands faces exactly the direction it would if it were placed within the circle of seven heroines.
Going off of what you shown, I feel like the seven heroines were moved from the original spot which is where the eighth heroine is located. Just a theory but what if they moved the seven heroines from the eighth to show how upset they were at the eighth (Ganon) and distance themselves from his beliefs? (Just a thought)
More on the 8th Heroine statue, the Gerudo script carved into it reads in reverse "Seven Sages". Also at it's feet is a series of fissures in the ground, some of them with an air current coming from underground. The fascinating thing about all of this is the Gerudo Highlands on the map itself resembling the statue and if you look at where it's feet would be? The Yiga Clan's hole to the underworld.
Just want to add my two cents on how to see the mountain heroine (9th heroine). Stop video at 11:26 so you can compare the shape of the statues. The statues clearly form a triangle with their arms. Across their hands is a line (hilt of the sword) that you can see for all the 7 heroines. Now look directly below the zoomed in map of the East Gerudo Ruins and a bit to the right. This is where the hands would meet to form the triangle. You can even see that the mountain has the "line" going across it like the other statues. The orientation of the mountain heroine is similar to the top-left heroine in the zoomed in map.
i also noticed the angle of the 8th statue fits in the missing gap where the 8th should be in the ring. like if it was transposed directly onto the circle of heroines, without changing its direction or angle, it would fit perfectly
A gerudo male is born. Gerudo: evil time. Seriously tho this theory is fire it makes so much sense that the ganon worshippers once had more influence and integrated ganon into their pantheon!
Well done and very interesting theory! Another interesting observation: the eighth heroine is the only statue with it’s left hand resting on top. Go back to the Yiga Hideout and climb up for a good view: you’ll notice that all eight statues have their left hands resting on top as well. There are also 3 visible triangles to the right side of each statue, one of which is located on the right arm/wrist. In OoT, Link’s Triforce is on the left-hand, and Ganon’s (and Zelda’s) is on the right.
I’ll post this here for those who don’t see it. The entirety of the highlands forms a triangular shape very, VERY similar to the top-down shape of the heroine statues. Look at the left side of the highlands. See the big straight line? Now look at the right side. See the acute angle? Now look at the mountains on the top of the highland. It almost forms a side, right? And the center peak with “gerudo highlands” it close to the position of the head, maybe.
Carmen Aguayo if I’m not wrong what he meant was, the shape of the entire highlands is similar to the shape of you look too down at the heroine statues....they form a triangle like shape....so you see it now?
Wasn’t there also a theory somewhere that Gannon Dorf was supposed to be a sage in ocarina of time but because of his betrayal he was replaced in so he was like an “8th” of the 7sages Since all of the seizures are of different races or origins in ocarina
I think that, assuming the statue is ganondorf, the missing sword might be a reference to the 'death sword' (which has been theorized to be ganondorf's sword) that was tied down at the execution site, removed from ganondorf during the execution in twilight princess. Also if the 7 heroines are the sages, the 8th could easily be ganondorf with his sword removed. Just my personal theory!

Great theory. I actually believe the Gerudo Fortress from OoT is the same as the Yiga clan hideout in BOTW. They both feature jail cells throughout. The yiga clan hideout has the same gerudo heroine statues as found in the desert, so it most likely used to belong to the Gerudo. And the hideout is obviously at least a spiritual successor to the Gerudo Fortress.
Okay... That ending got me! That is really cool and so subtle on Nintendo's Point.. Wow there's no way I would have seen that without that clear reference to the the group of heroines
Y’know, on the topic of Ganondorf, I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t even passing mention of any other male Gerudo before or after him. I mean, the timeline gives plenty of span and they’re supposed to be born every century. So when we get to the tens of thousands of years, it’s just kind of odd that he’s the only one we ever know about, period. Especially since I’m pretty sure said male Gerudo is supposed to be born as king or whatever.
I can't tell, it's either him remarking that there's an "East Gerudo Ruins" on the map, or, more likely, that the peaks resemble the top down view of a heroin statue.
If you look closely, the entirety of the peaks resembles the top down view of a heroine statue. You can see the top of the head, the arms, and then where the hands meet. The place where the map says "Gerudo Highlands" being the head, then pointing in a southeastern position.
It seems like they were trying to carve an absolutely ENORMOUS version of the heroine statue into the entire mountain. That’s just what I took away from it though
Theory: Ganondorf was once a good guy, so the good Gerudo started building him as the Eighth, but when he became evil and the evil Gerudo turned against the good Gerudo, they stopped building because it would represent their enemy. As to why it's a darker color, it's probably why the 7 heroines were heroines (female), whereas Ganon was a hero (male) when he wasn't evil.
To lend credence to this, in OoT there are six sages with Zelda being the seventh. However, in the previous games, there are seven sages with Zelda being the eighth. As well, each of the six sages of OoT were either rulers or important figures in each vassal state of Hyrule, with Ganondorf's kingdom being the exception. Maybe that's why Ganondorf is shown swearing loyalty to the king of Hyrule in the beginning of the game-the sages are being gathered.
Also consider the textures of the sword and the rock it's against. It's the same texture. I doubt it 'fell over,' they were literally carving it out of the rock it looks like it's resting on. Because if you look, the sword rests on top of the rock, and not slightly inside it (the rocks around it would be chipped and the sword slightly inside it.) So it's obvious, to me, that it was being carved from that rock itself.
This is a great theory! There is one possible, well, possibility that I can think of if the sword were actually moved, and that is that it were moved by twilight. In Twilight Princess, it is shown that a powerful twilight sorcerer/royalty (Midna) can teleport large objects at will. The only issues are as to why Midna (or some other twili) would do this, and how they returned to the world of light when the mirror was shattered. However (and this is likely just an easter egg) there is a mirror of twilight somewhat near Lurelin Village. Perhaps someone recreated it or remade it, and then it was once again shattered after the twili did what they wished?

I always thought that the eighth heroine is a call to Zelda in her various incarnations. She's integral to the seven sages, and the vessel of Hylia. She's also a woman like the Gerudo, and maybe the placement of the statue faces Hyrule Castle? I don't know. Also I kind of thought that maybe the sword being away from the statue meant that the current vessel of Hylia was not in touch with her powers, a strangely prophetic of the carvers.
I beleive the eighth was carved by Ganon Dorfs loyalists after his death. The sword is angled strangely like how Ganon's head was peirced by a sword in the Child timeline. This seems kinda strange.
I’m pretty sure that collapsed sheet of rocks was actually Farosh’s doing. At the Lakeside Stable, one of the NPCs, tells you the tale of the dueling peaks. That they were one mountain that a thunder dragon split to carve a path through. I’m pretty sure Farosh just carved through the rock in the Gerudo Highlands just to make a path for himself.
Could be both possibilities; they made a road to go towards the statue and Farosh just went, “um, yeah, this is cute and all, but I wanna go through here”, tore down the road, and that’s part of why the statue looks abandoned; cause they thought the dragon was attacking them?
One thing that confuses me about the Yiga clan being the ones worshiping the eighth heroine is that all eight statues in their hideout have their faces covered... If they really did worship the heroine, why wouldn't they leave just one uncovered?
I was just thinking of how Ganon was defeated in Oot: Link/Master Sword, the Sages, and ZELDA. Zelda could be the 8th heroine, but I have no idea if anything connects. Great video man, big fan
while i watch the video, let me guess who moved the sword: it actually goes with another theory, i think it was the last giant Goron who also are the giant skeletons
Oh my goodness!! I had you actually as "FL4SHK" on my list-- and when I was splicing the text across the screen at the end of the video, I think what happened is I looked at my list alphabetically at the "F-" names and accidentally carried over the other supporter "Felix K" thinking it was a duplicate of "FL4SHK". I am so, so sorry about that. If you look at my last video, I have you correctly in the listing at the end-- but my eyes must have glitched on me when I was editing the end of this video. I apologize deeply, I had and have every intention of putting you in my videos, and I made a huge mistake. I will make a verbal apology to you in my next video.
Omg... that top down view of the Gerudo Highlands combined with the top down view of the Seven Heroines. I never even noticed that about the Gerudo Highlands. The WHOLE Highlands region IS a top down view of a single MASSIVE Heroine Statue. That is just downright mind-blowing 🤯!
The real question is: How did they even move the statue in the first place? I do agree that must have they carve the statues from the mountains, I even went to the statue to look at it and couldn't see how it was moved there.
The sword of the eighth heroine being pierced into the top of Gerudo Summit (and that same mountaintop resembling the head of a heroine) reminds me of Ganondorf's demise in the Wind Waker.
but has anyone ever talked about how some look like they have an outline, an outline that looks like they were carved out of a mountain. the heroines could have been found somewere and moved to the locations like how the Egyptians moved large objects. and they just haven't found the sword, I don't really have an explanation for the sword but this is just my nugget of idea
So this Hyrule is so big because it's actually so small. You're playing as a Picori. That's how the sword got there. Dropped by a hylian. Also explains the large bones
You should do a theory about who makes the lynel weapons, as it is said they are made from minerals at the top of death mountain. Maybe the gorons make it for them??? Idk because there aren’t really any lynels in death mountain.
OK- I’ve been looking at totk for a while now….and here’s whatI think- Th seven heroines are the seven sages. Rauru, Sonia, Mineru, Goron Sage, Gerudo sage, Rito sage, and Zora sage. There was an eighth built for Zelda when she transported back in time- but Mineru or the other sages ordered for it to be hidden, to not break the timeline. And in the process, the sword was dropped.
I like to believe that a battle between giants happened. All those large skulls. One ran and saw the statue and its sword and took it for the fight. Didnt get a chance to land it hit and fell down pushing the sword into the ground. The story I made in my head.
@@BanditGames well it is unrelated to this. I am thinking of breath of the wild 2 and how it will likely deal with time timeshift stones because there is so much history in the map that I think they'll bring it to it's former glory with something similar

Interesting thoughts, but I have a question. Why make the sword all the way up there and the statue all the way down there? How were they planning to move the sword to the statue’s location or vice versa? It makes no sense.
a tad late on this, but I do want to bring up the fact that the Eigth's sword has a handle/grip, whereas the other statues just have the blade. This works as evidence that the sword and the Eigth statues were intended to be separate from the start - why spend days of work carving a handle that's just going to be chopped off on the final product?
I think it's the woman from the new Hyrule Warriors trailer (maybe the fortune teller.) After all, she is a Gerudo (with gold yes) and in-game, it said that the 8th heroin is still worshiped by the people in the Gerudo highlands (the yiga) and we see the Yiga soldiers worshiping the woman at the end of the trailer. This might also explain why the statue of the 8th heroin is near the area where the Yiga are located near.
What if the eighth statue is a prophecy representing Zeldas struggle to awaken her power making her feel alone and apart from her predecessors and the location of the sword is the 100 year separation from her personal sword (Link)
This is really interesting. So, all of Gerudo Highlands was carved!🤯 I remember finally finding the 8th statue after a LOT of searching but finding that sword first and being like "What the heck!?" The first place I ever went after leaving the canyon and realizing I couldn't bring my horse was that ring of 7 statues. I kept searching the eastern mountains of Gerudo for the side quest. Then finally going north and finding out that I was in the wrong area before.
you can compare it pretty well at 11:26. What hes referencing takes up the entire screen. To start, examine the shape of the statues shown in the East Gerudo Ruins. They are made up of a dense rectangular base and then the arms stretch out to make a hollow Triangle joining where they hold the sword. Now if you look at the map (the entire map on screen not just the little section where the words are that say Gerudo Highlands (BIG PICTURE), now if you direct your attention to the words MNB placed on the screen that say "Look Familiar" just above the word "Look" is the bottom of the Large Rectangular Base. now if you direct your attention to the bottom Right corner of the screen (just to the left of his MNB logo) you'll see the section that is the point of the Triangle. Now you should be able to see what he's saying when you compare this massive structure to the shapes of the other statues provided on screen. Took me a few minutes of not seeing it at all but once you see it then you'll realize it may not be as much of a stretch as you first thought.

Hey man! I'm loving the content! Probably a stupid and unrelated question, but I've been searching for a while and I'm curious: where did you get your master sword and hylian shield replicas? They look like some of the best ones I've seen.
It is not related with this but it is interesting that I want to say. There is a shrine quest known as ‛the bird in the mountain’ where you use that tree pointing by rito bird to find a massive highland which exactly look like a large bird or vah medoh. A shrine is located inside of that highland.
It's quite possible that it was originally 1 hero(ine), Ganondorf, rather than 7 or 8. One figure of worship, and then it became abundantly clear to many that he was not the hero the Gerudo hoped for. The statue may have been started construction under his order. Upon his defeat, all work on his statue stopped, and the 7 sages were instead revered and statues of them were made. But, that also raises the question of why nothing for Link, and why 8 spots. The 8 spots might just simply be because they thought that looked good (it gives a nice entrance after all) or to recognise that there was once another. And perhaps the mountains themselves are the statue for Link, the greatest hero(ine) of them all.
I'm still a bit confused; why would you carve the sword so far away from the actual statue? Who's going to move it all the way to the statue once it's done? Wouldn't you want it to be closer? ;l

@@rileyrogers8309 the top of a heroin and the shape of the Gerudo region
So, if the Gerudo carved an entire mountain to make the heroine statues, they must have had a lot more people when the carving happened, or they would never complete it. Any ideas as to why they’re so much smaller now, even though they weren’t affected by the Calamity 100 years ago and they weren’t cut down to size by a Hylian king, such as the Sheika and Zonai?
They can't breed as fast. Since no Gerudo males are born, Gerudo women have to go out and seek a male from the rest of Hyrule. That takes time and effort.
@@AdmiralAwsm also the other races kind of being wiped out means less prospective males to mate with.
@@AdmiralAwsm And we know that not all return to the Gerudo Desert as can be seen with the one who moves into Tarry Town.

Good point
That is correct
The Gerudo are skillful warriors, and I think they stopped carving before Calamity.

At 7:25 when you mention that there is space among the seven for the eighth heroine I wanted to add a note. The 8th heroine in it’s location in the highlands faces exactly the direction it would if it were placed within the circle of seven heroines.
What if it wasn't *moved*…
…And it was left where it was being carved?
CALLED IT! 😄
@@MrJmZack HAH! (you) GOTTI
I had been wondering that because when I look at it, it seems connected to the mountain.
@@KM-md8cl you do know how hard it would be to move one of those let alone 7!!!
Ohhh thanks! I was looking at it for like ten minutes and couldn't figure it out
i also noticed the angle of the 8th statue fits in the missing gap where the 8th should be in the ring. like if it was transposed directly onto the circle of heroines, without changing its direction or angle, it would fit perfectly

I still don't see it 😭

Considering you don't ever see their faces, maybe some of the Yiga are recruited Gerudo
@@charliekahn4205 Could very well be, although aren’t most, if not all the yiga, men?

The eighth heroine was made from a different rock aswell
Y’know, on the topic of Ganondorf, I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t even passing mention of any other male Gerudo before or after him. I mean, the timeline gives plenty of span and they’re supposed to be born every century. So when we get to the tens of thousands of years, it’s just kind of odd that he’s the only one we ever know about, period. Especially since I’m pretty sure said male Gerudo is supposed to be born as king or whatever.
I think because ganondorf doesm't die, they get no new king
Can you explain 11:24 a bit what was significant about the shape of the carved out cliff
@@metallicvoid1984 🤯🤯🤯 I see it now 🤯🤯🤯
It seems like they were trying to carve an absolutely ENORMOUS version of the heroine statue into the entire mountain. That’s just what I took away from it though
Look at the place labelled Gerudo Highlands and then look in the middle of East Gerudo Ruins
3 years later and content like this can still be made from this game. incredible.
Because if you look, the sword rests on top of the rock, and not slightly inside it (the rocks around it would be chipped and the sword slightly inside it.) So it's obvious, to me, that it was being carved from that rock itself.
my theory was that they were car-ring the sword across the highlands and were then killed by the lynel up there

Could be both possibilities; they made a road to go towards the statue and Farosh just went, “um, yeah, this is cute and all, but I wanna go through here”, tore down the road, and that’s part of why the statue looks abandoned; cause they thought the dragon was attacking them?
the big mushrooms are actually “fossilized” trees, as the smallest ones give wood when destroyed

I think it is a reference to the sages from twilight princess and the 8th heroine is the sage Ganondorf killed
I'd like it to be an Easter Egg to lttp, there are 7 girls (descendants of the wise men) you have to rescue, with another being Zelda.
It is not related with this but it is interesting that I want to say. There is a shrine quest known as ‛the bird in the mountain’ where you use that tree pointing by rito bird to find a massive highland which exactly look like a large bird or vah medoh. A shrine is located inside of that highland.
I had no idea the highlands were shaped like one of the statues!
Wouldn't you want it to be closer? ;l
Gotta love this guy for answering questions i didnt know i had.
