I was a Truck Driver for a Fortune 500 Company for 15 years. I was injured twice and they made me do office work during recovery. My job was to go over every Truck drivers log books and fix every mistake so when this company was audited every logbook was perfect. They made me make sure every driver averaged 60 mpg on their log books. The trucks were set at 70 mph on the Governor. So I was paid to falsify every drivers logbook.
If I was injured I would sit at home for months! Screw working

@@billbradley2480 self insured has zero to do with workers comp! I worked for covenant and my co driver wrecked. It was minor but I stayed out almost a year on workers comp. They wanted me to do office work and I refused. Of course after almost a year of free money I was fired but hey there are a million other trucking companies

Accidental mistakes during investigations are way too common in many government organizations.
The language barrier w some inspectors is an issue and the glee that these guys express just so they can sit U for 10 hrs shows the real intent .
I ran long haul 48 States and Canada for 6 years and I ran illegal all 6 years because the rules don't Jive with regular life. And I only got really tired twice and I stopped and took a power nap. The new rules means you have to take a power nap when your hours of service clock is running. That means you won't be able to sleep. So you are forced to drive while you are very tired because of the new electronic logbooks.
They came out with a new rule a couple years ago (the Final Rule). If you take a nap at least two hours long, it doesn't count against your 14 hour clock. That rule is almost as old as the ELD mandate, and it completely addresses any legitimate concerns people had about the hours of service rules. All of y'all still making this complaint either don't understand the rules, or you're just lying because you want to work 120 hour weeks all methed up.

Feds have no business "regulating" the trucking industry.
So you want to go back to drivers driving, too tired, methed/coked out (have to stay awake, right?), companies taking advantage of you, forcing you to drive beyond what your body is capable of doing? All that with how dense traffic is now compared to 20/30/40 years ago? What I’m saying is, some regulations are absolutely necessary. While some regulations are flat out ridiculous.

I had some experience at a small company. We got inspected every two years, it was unsatisfactory or satisfactory!
They had two unsatisfactory in a row, now all the trucks I drove could hold air, I mean step out of it Friday night and back in it Monday morning and it has over 100 psi in the system!
Now I was the only driver for 2-trk tractors, 3- semi-trks,1 cozad low-boy,1 tilt trailer,1 end-dump,2 high side demo trailers!
I was a big kid in the sandbox.all the work was worth it when I pulled into yard and the inspector was there,I go to office and my boss and his partner were laghing and they tell me the inspector hooked his air hose up to every trailer in the yard nothing lost any air,he was there alot longer than needed to be.
Made my bosses day when we got a satisfactory rating.
This is exactly WHY we dont need the FMCSA

You'd be absolutely Flabbergasted if you only knew what Warren Buffet has in store for oil production via Pilot/Flying J, then. He's set to own over 70% of Shares by next year and sent the CEO'S of the company a letter instructing them to slow oil production down by "x" amount. Guess who that's affecting? Us Truckers.

My whole problem with hours of service isn't the 10/14 rule it's the 70 hour rule and 11 hour rule because in the real world they make no sense . Heres the breakdown:
The government says I can work 14 hours a day but what they really mean is I can work 11 hours a day but what they really mean is I can work 8 hours and 15 minutes a day .
I like the 14/10 split but that 70 hour rule does not make sense for OTR that is not on dedicated lanes( although that can back fire as well ) .
If feds really cared about safety , driver health and reduced driver fatigue ( biggest contributer to fatigue is stress ) then they'd have a simple 10/14 rule .
P.S that clearance house is a joke . I took a drug test . THE DRUG TEST WAS LOST and we were notified in days . Went and took another drug test and had no issues . A month later a drug test turns up THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY MINE but had wrong paper . They just filed NEW paperwork BUT I DID NOT SIGN IT , WAS NOT ASKED TO SIGN IT , BUT IT SUPPOSEDLY HAD MY SIGNATURE and it came back positive for heavy Marijuana use .
First of all a heavy Marijuana user can't get that out of their system in days , weeks maybe but more like months ( modern Marijuana not the Bob Marley stuff ) Second they test for cleanser on the federal tests . Third which is what everyone points out ... if someone smoke or uses Marijuana and just took a drug test when is the BEST TIME to smoke up ? Everyone realizes something was wrong because of the scenario first off . ( DAYS INTO BETWEEN TO TESTS WITH COMPLETELY OPPISITE RESULTS AND ONLY ONE HAD MY SIGNATURE) but the one in question that violates numerous federal standards including chain of custody is the one the Clearing House says is legitimate. Clearing House doesn't give a shit about safety either ... it's just another bureaucracy designed to make BIG GOVERNMENT look necessary with no concern for its victims in its wake . ( fortunately because of the facts the people I work with me stood by my side because they too agreed the first test doesn't match reality or science that jibes with second test ... but Clearing House doesn't care so we wasted over 4 grand between us in total to make an agency feel like it's doing something) .

That’s what happened to me.. I had a focus reviewed and left me at non rating. Change policies in the company etc etc and they still only left me at non rating.

I know, I heard and some drivers told me. Some drivers have to give them some money to falsify and adjusting illegally their logs. Some apps are junk and even allowing to mess with driving times. It is not a secret ..

What I believe is a money making scam is in California does terminal inspections but you have to pay them to come and inspect you my dad ran 1 truck out of his house he had to pay them to come to his house and inspect his truck

As for 70 log violations that is crazy depending on the infractions but when i got a elog put in the first time something bugged out and i had 280 violations in 12 hrs… my budy went in to a scale got inspected in almost a year he hadlike 200 violations because he started driving after his half hr brake… dot told him dont start driving till 31 min not 30

I think it depends if it's an old school scale with a civilian car scale master, or if it's a sophisticated scale with several DOT vehicles waiting for the next victim.

Maybe rename the ratings to 'Unrated', 'Failed', and 'Redeemed'. Make it so that having a rating should be akin to having a 'criminal record', and then educate shippers/brokers that having ANY rating at all should be bad.
Suppose in the 3rd instance where the company receives lots of complaints. If they're found with nothing wrong after the investigation, keep them in the 'Unrated' category; otherwise 'Failed' if found with legit violations, which they'll have to get 'Redeemed'.
