This time next year all those leaves that got swept under the shrubs will have rotted down to leaf mold and could be used in any repots for semi-terrestrials. Cymbidiums do need to be tight in their pots to flower well, you may need to wait a bit longer now but it will be a lovely show when it does happen 😊.
Orchid looking good post repot!
Thanks.
That was much easier and a lay down rolly Polly! Hahaha 😅 you're so chipper and funny today ....that's a good quick repot and fun! I think most should be like that😉
Some repots will always be easier than others.
Yea that's what we want. Good stuff.
Thanks.
Looks great and without much difficulty.
That one was easy.
Hi Roger. Looks a very healthy cymbidium. 🫶🫶🍾🍾🥂🥂🇦🇺🇦🇺
It's a vigorous plant.
That was to easy this time, Roger. 😉😁😁😁 Good job. What's the time to put them outside? Just after the frost or above 18 degrees in the spring?
Probably in May with a carful eye on the forecast for any late frosts when they would need to come back in overnight. Best to wait for a mild spell.
I guess I'm being too gentle with my repotting. What determines a "repot" or a "pot up"?
'Potting on' is when the plant is just lifted out of one pot and placed in a bigger one with new media around the outside - minimal disturbance but it does mean all the old media is still in the pot. Not normally used for orchids as old media will stay wet and set off root-rot.
Hi Roger, thought you might have put some slow release with the first bit of media. are you not coming into summer? did you not find some in the potting on? might not have been a bad idea. Next time :)
I don't like the slow release feed as there is no control - don't know if the plant is getting too much or too little.
This camera angle gives a much better view of what you are doing.
I had to have the tripod this side to get far enough back as it was a very large orchid.
😁
Dumb question: healthy plant so couldnt you have separated it & obtained one extra plant??
It could have split into 3 easily - but why?
I guess you didn’t want extra plants.
One large plant with many spikes is the goal.
