  • Usually the Boesemanis you see in your LSF show no color, and are generally ugly. BUT if you take good care of them and they have good genetics they will color up for you. Thats what I meant by "real" because its the better representation of them.
    I wanted to show people what can be expected from these guys when they are not stressed and in poor conditions.
    Thanks

    Do you have an update on this aquarium? I'd love to see them now after a few years growth.

    What kind of plants are those to the left of your tank? They look like Cabomba, but with single leaves stacked one on top of the other.

    hi may I ask the size of bosemani in this video? I love your tank. what did you do to bring that intense color? do i need to lower the lights?

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  8 лет назад

      They were probably 2.5-3" when I filmed this. The color comes from a few factors: 1 genetics, they are from a specific lake in PNG called lake Ayinjo, secondly my water naturally matches their native water, and I do 80% water changes every week. I have 3 led bars on this 120, so I think I have pretty intense lighting, but it is 24" deep, so that if a factor as well.

      +Funksolid Thanks for the tips! May I also ask what is the percentage of veggies and meat based food that you feed to them? Sorry for asking too much question. Your fish is really amazing. I wish my fish to be healthy and vibrant as yours.

    I have 3 bosemani and 3 turquoise rainbow they are stuck at 3 inches how big would they get in a 38 gallon tank?

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  7 лет назад +1

      Its plausible that their growth is restricted by tank size, but some Boesemani's are a bit smaller.

    so i have two silver dollars right now and i have had them for a litle over a year in my 60 gallon and they are doing great. but i have always really wanted bosemani raibows, i just love the looks of them. i also have 3 black skirt tetras. Could i add some bosemani rainbows to my tank? and if so how many like3-6 maybe? like would they get along with my silver dollars and vice versa, i can move the black skirt tetrs if needed. im just worried about being overstocked with because i would like 2 add a bottom feder or 2 but thats not necessary right now. maybe like a loach or a rainbow shark. like i said i just dont want to overstock and i would like them to all get along. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

      overturned50 I think those species will be just fine together. What sort of filtration do you have?

    • @overturned50
      @overturned50 7 лет назад

      right now im using 2 40 gallon marineland power filters.

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  7 лет назад

      I think you have some room for additional bioload for sure. The Boesemanis in the pet stores are typically small and very immature, so I think you could add 6 of them and your filtration has time to grow as they do.

      @overturned50 7 лет назад

      awesome thanks a lot for the replies, in the future i will most likely be upgrading my filter. maybe a canister but they just cost so much.

    I have a 30 gallon tank is that enough to keep Boesemanis in? If so how many?

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  7 лет назад

      Most Boesemanis get to the 4" mark, but if you can find some pure strain "Aytinjos" they are a smaller in the 3-3.5" range. You could probably do 5 in a 30G, with some nice plants. A longer 30G would be more ideal than a deeper 30G for these guys.

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  7 лет назад +2

      Wow 8"?! NO! 4" would be a good average, and the Lake Aytinjos average a bit smaller than 4".

    Whats the PH for this fish? Thanks

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  8 лет назад

      +Hassan Murad Here is what the worlds top expert on Rainbows (Allan Tappin) said "The lakes and streams have a pH of 6.4-7.8 (de Vries, 1962) and temperate 26-27° Celsius. Heiko Bleher reported the water conditions as pH 9.0, hardness 5° dGH, and conductivity 145 mS/cm. When Marinus Boeseman collected his specimens, he reported a pH of 6.4-6.5." -> This data was taken from Allans free ebook online which is a must have for any rainbowfish owner. As you can see its highly variable, so the old advice of keep your pH unchanging from whatever your water gives you, and you should succeed, as long as its within reason.

    I have 2 female and 1 male in 125 litre (33 gallon) will the colour come out like yours?

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  6 лет назад

      Too many variables to say. One must consider genetics, environment, diet, and even epi-genetic factors for colour. The first step is to source them from a reliable breeder with beautiful fish.

    That's a nice collection of Boesemani. I agree, good stock and healthy tank brings out color. Looks like a lot more males the females, those girls must get worn out being chased around. Myself I keep a male only tank. Do they breed for you? Raising any?

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  8 лет назад

      +Greggz111 I have seen a few fry swimming at the top, but they promptly get eaten. I am hoping to breed this summer when school and MCAT craziness is over.

      +Funksolid I was wondering if any would make it. Check out my latest Rainbow tank video if you get a chance. I keep several different varieties, but once again all males.

    I love your tank bro. Good info here too. I've been wanting to grab a couple of these guys to throw in my 55. Do you have any experience with red tailed black sharks? I have one in there and am wondering if she'd beat em up or not.

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  8 лет назад

      +How to Darkwraith No I have never kept red tailed sharks. I know they would be a similar size to an adult Boesemani, so my wild guess is they would be ok as long as your picking up med/large adults Boesemanis. The boes can swim really well, so I suspect it would give them a bit of an advantage.

    do female color up as much as the males?

    • @AquaticLogic
      @AquaticLogic  7 лет назад

      No they show very clear sexual dimorphism. Females are drab brownish color, but make sure that the fish are mature enough to be able to differentiate.

    Even nicer and impossible to find are the Bosemani that are half red and half blue. Give my left (deleted) for 10.

  • @gavdechter
    @gavdechter 8 лет назад +1

    the reason they are dull in the LFS is because when they are young they do not have their full color. only when they become mature do they fully color up.

  • @shainoelcline6874

    Are your only males? Ratio should be 2 females to 1 male, but otherwise a beautiful school.
