you missed 2: "looked daddy, every time a bell rings an angel gets it's wings", It's a wonderful life Captain: "out there is home, home auto and it's trouble. I can't just sit here and do nothing. that's what everyone's done. that's what everyone on this blasted ship as ever done, nothing" Auto: "on the Axium we will survive" Captain: " I don't want to survive, I wanna live"-Wall-E
"Here's looking at you kid", the scene which that quote is more iconic was when it was said at the end. Also where is "That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age." from Dazed and Confused?
@Pariah77 exactly what i was waiting for! can't believe they didn't put that in there! Also "I love you" "I know" Some of my other faves include: So shall it be written, so shall it be done. -The Ten Commandments Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera -The King and I "I'll give you the moon Mary" "I'll take it" -It's a Wonderful Life The whole rant Ma Joad gives at the end of The Grapes of Wrath "Doesn't my body just drive you wild with desire?" -Cabaret "Screw Maximillian!" Should've had a couple of quotes from It's a Wonderful Life and Shawshank Redemption, The Untouchables, and Tombstone. "I'm your huckleberry" from Tombstone would've been terrific.
Great clip compilation! I love the Jaws quote. lol ..But they forgot my favorite!: "Is this the fun part?... Are we having fun yet?!" ~Carol Burnett in "The Four Seasons"--hilarious! Top job!
Very good! I enjoyed it a lot. It was well done, I agreed with many picks. The only one i think should've been higher is " I see dead people". Good job.
the only thing I have a problem is the scene you chose for "Here's Lookin at You Kid"...I think the best would have been when he said it right before she got on the plane
the only thing I have a problem with is the scene you chose for "Here's Lookin at You Kid"...I think the best would have been when he said it right before she got on the plane
To all those who are mad about their favorite line not being in the list.. "What we've got here is a failure to communicate" It's called 100 greatest movie quotes by AFI NOT every good line said in a movie ever by people pleaser productions.
if you only knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father. He told me enough! He told me you killed him! No! I am your father! The most misquoted movie quote of all time is top five for sure
Agreed on the blues brothers. Also a couple more notable exceptions: "I am not an animal! I am a human being!" - Elephant Man "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'." - The Shawshank Redemption
"[Luke], I am your father" and "[Mirror], mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?" are very easily the most quoted lines in cinema history. I cannot believe they didn't make it.
3:50 was great impro a car that didnt read the "filming" board drove by and almost crash on the two actors but he kept in characters and gave us this great line
notable ommissions: "Run, Forrest, Run!" "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way." "Whats a mook?" "I had a farm in Africa..." "Leave the gun, take the canoli."
I missed one quote from Hannibal, I'm having an od friend for dinner, it's priceless. Anyway, great list. And it's your personal thoughts anyway so no point in complaining.
My fav has to be Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard (#24). Also, Clark Gable's GWTW line definitely deserves it's #1 spot. Oh, and Bette Davis' Now, Voyager quote (#46) is amazing, too.
My honorable mentions: "Welcome to Jurassic Park" "The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about fight club" "I am your father" "Khaaaannn!" "Tis but a scratch!" "Does he look like a bitch?" "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die" "You are a toy!!" "I'm batman" "Ahh... juicy fruit" "Once this baby hits 88mph, you're gonna see some serious shit" "He said I could shoot all the bluejays I wanted, if I could hit 'em, but to remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convince the world he didn't exist."
And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee!, ( Pulp Fiction) Why so serious?( The Dark Knight), Get busy living or get busy dying The Shawshank Redemption), No prisoners! No prisoners! (Lawrence of Arabia), I'm the boss.(Raging Bull.)
How bout..... "Yer killin me, Smalls" "Miss, mmmmisssss, mmmissss, NNNNoooonan" "I'm not gonna hit ya, I'm not gonna hit ya..................the hell I'm not!" "You complete me" "Gort, Platu, Mirada, Nicto"
Best-delivered lines from the whole thing has got to be the "You talkin' to me?" scene from Taxi Driver (7:30). Enough to give you chills. De Niro's the boss.
Great list! I would've included: "The first rule of Fight Club", "I'm your father" from Star Wars and "you are tearing me apart!" from Rebel Without a Cause.
#38 - first heard of that quote reading Mitch Albom's 'Tuesdays with Morrie' when Morrie quotes it I think then says something along the lines of 'how Gary Cooper was strong and he wasnt - b/c it was the worst day of his life'. does anyone know the exact phrase Morrie says? i read it a long time ago
very good list, but at the same time they missed a lot of them. it's hard to think of them off the top of my head but a couple thoughts are: 1) not one quote from either pulp fiction or it's a wonderful life (casablanca had like 6) 2) they had star wars in the top ten (force be with you) but not "i am your father." arguably a much better/famous quote. great video for the most part though!
For # 22 you should've shown the 2006 Casino Royale utterance of the line: that was the perfect and the only one better than the one you showed. Also for # 6 I think you should've shown the line from the climax. There it was particularly intense. Of course then the line is switched from a calm utterance to an outright shout: "COME ON, MAKE MY DAY!!!!"
Everyone here saying this video should include this quote or that quote, just remember this isn't a list they put together themselves, they're just showing AFI's top ten,
Okay, he doesn't say Luke...BUT It should easily be in the top 2 quotes!!! FOR the love of GOD they have show me the money, but not I AM YOUR FATHER???? ARE THEY INSANE?
what about: "Beuller,Beuller"-Ferris Beuller's day off "every time a bell rings,an angel gets it wings"-Its a wonderful life and "to infinity and beyond"-Toy Story
I'd switch "You don't understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, lets face it." with "Here's looking at you, kid"
Wow, so many I would have included: 1. “Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?” 2. “Terminate. With extreme prejudice.” 3. The Eziekel 25:17 speech 4. “No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!” 5. “How am I so funny?” 6. “Never rat on your friends, and keep your mouth shut.” Not one quote from Goodfellas! 7. “Vodka martini. Shaken not stirred.” (Bond, James Bond has to be top 10.) My fave is probably Robert Duvall’s “I love the smell of Napalm” because at that moment, despite the backdrop of death and carnage, he makes me want to experience the “smell of Napalm in the morning.” The best poetry is visceral and that line in that context is brilliant.
funny thing is when i saw taxi driver for the frist time, I thought the "you talking to me" scence was him doing an impression of whatever movie it was from...then i relized after watching the movie that the "you talking to me" scence WAS from taxi driver and he wasnt doig an impression because that was the oringanal.
Awesome list! You should put more maybe extend the list "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!!" Monty Python;; "Zee case is CLOSED!" Pink Panther, "I am your father"Star Wars and all that
I love Casablanca and the fact that it was on the list 6 times! Thanks very much for putting this video up!
I'm surprised "I am your father" didn't make it.
Neither did some other quotes like “Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads.”
Honorable mentions:
1. "To Infinity and Beyond"-Toy Story
2. "Zed is Dead"-Pulp Fiction
3. "As Far Back as I can Remember I Always Wanted to be a Gangster"-Goodfellas

"Royale with Cheese" - Pulp Fiction
"They're all gonna laugh at you" - Carrie
Mr. Handel-Bar be afraid, be very afraid. The Fly
“You’re killing me smalls.”
All good ones handle but what about ''I'v got a bad feeling about this'' said in almost all of the star wars episodes.
"Here's looking at you kid", the scene which that quote is more iconic was when it was said at the end. Also where is "That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age." from Dazed and Confused?
"Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." It's astonishing how many great quotes came from Casablanca.
First rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club.
“second rule of fight club is, yoU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB.”
It turns out that AFI was following the rules here.
@Pariah77 exactly what i was waiting for! can't believe they didn't put that in there! Also "I love you" "I know"
Some of my other faves include:
So shall it be written, so shall it be done. -The Ten Commandments
Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera -The King and I
"I'll give you the moon Mary" "I'll take it" -It's a Wonderful Life
The whole rant Ma Joad gives at the end of The Grapes of Wrath
"Doesn't my body just drive you wild with desire?" -Cabaret
"Screw Maximillian!" "I do." "So do I." -Cabaret
Casablanca was a brilliant movie, so many great quotes from it will live on.
I can't believe "No, I am your father." wasn't in there!
But it was among the many movie quotes that were nominated
Casablanca has so many great quotes
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
One of the best quotes ever?
Saying "SHANE!" to Shane as Shane is walking away in the movie Shane.
Brilliant!
Blues Brothers "We're on a mission from God"
it's a film of shit
"Leave the gun. Take the canoli..."
So many quotes from Casablanca.
Casablanca was an entire MADE of quotes.
Thanks for compiling these. People are haters.
Should've had a couple of quotes from It's a Wonderful Life and Shawshank Redemption, The Untouchables, and Tombstone. "I'm your huckleberry" from Tombstone would've been terrific.
Casablanca is all over this,,, awesome movie!
Don't thank us for watching, thank YOU for posting!
Great clip compilation! I love the Jaws quote. lol
..But they forgot my favorite!: "Is this the fun part?... Are we having fun yet?!" ~Carol Burnett in "The Four Seasons"--hilarious!
Top job!
Wow, thanks for posting this list. I quote movies all the time...people think I'm strange, but what do they know...it's cool!!!!!
AFI goofed - Missing: "To my big brother George, the richest man in town" (It's a Wonderful Life)
Wuv it. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this together. We R appriciate it.
It's classic lines. And you don't get anymore classic than "Bond, James Bond."
Always makes me smile. No one ever said it better.
"You despise me, don't you?"
"Well, if I gave you any thought I probably would."
"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow."
"Yeah, but that's for you to do later"
WAAAAAAYYYYYY-OOOOOO
You have to make more of AFI stuff! I love them!
"i am big, its the pictures that got small" best line ever, and so true about hollywood.
To all those who are mad about their favorite line not being in the list.. "What we've got here is a failure to communicate" It's called 100 greatest movie quotes by AFI NOT every good line said in a movie ever by people pleaser productions.
You talkin me? You talkin to me? You talkin to me? well then who the hell else are you talkin to- You talkin to me? I love that line!
Sadly, my favorite line from Casablanca is not included: "I'm shocked, SHOCKED, to find that gambling is going on in here".
I really love this full of some of the best quotes ever said in film!!!!:)
@marioman2161 The list was made in 2005 so 300 wasn't made at the time. But where's "Luke I am your father?"
if you only knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father. He told me enough! He told me you killed him! No! I am your father! The most misquoted movie quote of all time is top five for sure
another great video thank you
brando's scene = #1....the rest, far behind.
Unusual suspects !
"And just like that *whoof* he was gone."
Agreed on the blues brothers.
Also a couple more notable exceptions:
"I am not an animal! I am a human being!" - Elephant Man
"Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'." - The Shawshank Redemption
"[Luke], I am your father" and "[Mirror], mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?" are very easily the most quoted lines in cinema history. I cannot believe they didn't make it.
This is AFI's list. Not this persons personal list. Yell at AFI for the list.
3:50 was great impro
a car that didnt read the "filming" board drove by and almost crash on the two actors but he kept in characters and gave us this great line

I missed one quote from Hannibal, I'm having an od friend for dinner, it's priceless.
Anyway, great list.
And it's your personal thoughts anyway so no point in complaining.
I saw the original broadcast years ago of this list, and I really want to find the one for The Silence of the Lambs
I find it hard to believe that "Oh Miss Scarlett! We's got to have a doctor! I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies!" didn't make the list.
Political correctness.
My fav has to be Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard (#24). Also, Clark Gable's GWTW line definitely deserves it's #1 spot. Oh, and Bette Davis' Now, Voyager quote (#46) is amazing, too.
"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!" no?
Great watching these. Thanks.
"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" - Godfather III
"Forget'bout it " - Donnie Brasco
My honorable mentions:
"Welcome to Jurassic Park"
"The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about fight club"
"I am your father"
"Khaaaannn!"

"Does he look like a bitch?"

How bout.....
"Yer killin me, Smalls"
"Miss, mmmmisssss, mmmissss, NNNNoooonan"
"I'm not gonna hit ya, I'm not gonna hit ya..................the hell I'm not!"
"You complete me"
"Gort, Platu, Mirada, Nicto"
There are several repeats of the same quotes in parts one and two, thus missing out on some other great quotes!
Great work!
Hey when the Streetcar Named Desire Quote came up did anyone else think of the simpsons episode where Marge did the musical?
"Madness?...This...is...SPARTA!!!!! [kick]
where's "you've got me? who's got you!"? Damn it, I read that that was on their list.
best part of that is that it was ad libbed. Scorsese didn't have anything written for that scene, so De Niro made it up on the spot.
Where was "put the lotion in the basket" from the silence of the lambs?
It takes a nerd of supreme courage to say that. A moment of silence for the most honest nerd on the web.
@jlockwood1125 a lot of famous quotes are misnomers. For example, "Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By,'" is often misquoted as "Play it again, Sam."
You’re killing me smalls
the quote from taxi driver was actually spoofed from twilight zone's Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room

THE LIST needs updating!
Great video, thankyou
@lonewolf202 "I'm having an old friend for dinner" is from SILENCE OF THELAMBS, not HANNIBAL.
John Wayne in "The Cowboys" from 1972.."Slap some bacon on a bisquit and lets go, we're burning daylight!!"
They should have included THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh, i'll think about it tomorrow!
Everyone here saying this video should include this quote or that quote, just remember this isn't a list they put together themselves, they're just showing AFI's top ten,
Love the ending "Le Voyage dans la lune"
can't believe not 1 pulp fiction line. Movie had the greatest dialogue of any film.
Once upOn a time there used to be movies...now they are GONE WITH THE WIND
Okay, he doesn't say Luke...BUT It should easily be in the top 2 quotes!!! FOR the love of GOD they have show me the money, but not I AM YOUR FATHER???? ARE THEY INSANE?
oh i finally found one in the right order
what about:
"Beuller,Beuller"-Ferris Beuller's day off
"every time a bell rings,an angel gets it wings"-Its a wonderful life
and "to infinity and beyond"-Toy Story
I'd switch "You don't understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, lets face it." with "Here's looking at you, kid"
"run forrest run"
"No, I am your father"
Screw them, Stinkin' badges is the greatest line, ever.
Wizard of Oz and the Godfather have the best quotes.
"Take her to the moon for me"-Bing-Bong
ɷɷ I Have Watcheddd This Movieee Leakedddd Versionn Hereeee : - t.co/e6QlTccFx6
@legalconspiricies I think it got taken by the 20 quotes they took from casablanka,
Wow, so many I would have included:
1. “Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”
2. “Terminate. With extreme prejudice.”
3. The Eziekel 25:17 speech
4. “No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!”
5. “How am I so funny?”
6. “Never rat on your friends, and keep your mouth shut.” Not one quote from Goodfellas!
7. “Vodka martini. Shaken not stirred.” (Bond, James Bond has to be top 10.)
My fave is probably Robert Duvall’s “I love the smell of Napalm” because at that moment, despite the backdrop of death and carnage, he makes me want to experience the “smell of Napalm in the morning.” The best poetry is visceral and that line in that context is brilliant.
do you guys not understand he didn't make this list? he posted what AFI deemed as the top 100 movie quotes! He didn't miss a single one!
Love it! Marlon Brando is such a man!
Why is the aspect ratio not correct on the newer movies?
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." -Favorite quote ever.
funny thing is when i saw taxi driver for the frist time, I thought the "you talking to me" scence was him doing an impression of whatever movie it was from...then i relized after watching the movie that the "you talking to me" scence WAS from taxi driver and he wasnt doig an impression because that was the oringanal.
Awesome list! You should put more maybe extend the list "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!!" Monty Python;; "Zee case is CLOSED!" Pink Panther, "I am your father"Star Wars and all that
Actually, my favorite Pink Panther quotes were whenever Clouseau said "Swine," and "Until we meet again, and the case is sahl-ved."
@awesomemoneyman it wasn't on dvd yet at the time so he couldn't capture footage
you notice they can’t find any from the last 20 years -sad where movies have gone !
Why didn't they just play all of Casablanca? It seemed to be the only one played near the end.
cause it's the greatest movie ever made. so...shut the fuck up.
Leilani Hernandez good lord. office space is much better than that
