That's a very sad ending. Hopefully you find a way to come back to flying later.
Good luck in your new endeavors!

Thank you. It is sad, but I am doing alright. It's during these times that we need to reflect and realise the importance of the people you love.

Yeah. Corporations making employees think that working for free is the only path to future opportunities is sad. What is worse the people buy into it. Then get nothing. I've seen it in the banking industry.

It's the reality of a society that is hyper driven by the bottom line. The only thing e can do is adapt, unfortunately

This is very sad - talented individuals like you deserve much better. I've always been so enamored of people like yourself who have the Smarts, Determination, Skills, Guts & Gusto to fly a commercial jet airline, etc. I know that I don't have what it takes & most people don't. It takes real Special people like you to be able to reliably be up to the Task - Day after Day, Night after Night. People like you deserve the utmost Respect & Opportunity - IMO even more than doctors do - because you're flying their Asses all over the place as well as all the others. The airline companies need to consider that without very Special people like you, their fleets of passenger aircraft would be grounded & not go anywhere.

Impressive story! I chosed another carreer even though I know I was born to fly.
There always be this what if thoughts. Hope you find peace with your choice :)

A sad but true video I suppose. Out of interest would you not say that your comment about `roster enabled commuting therefore I was happy to take a lower than industry std salary` was just another way to enable the degradation of T&Cs that you were happy to go along with? This is not a dig at all but a genuine question :)

It's a fair point to raise. In this particular case, I wouldn't say so. Most jobs require you to live in the same area you work in (currrent circumstances aside). I believe it was and probably would still be a fair exchange.

Hey man! I was looking for ideas for a youtube video that I'm working on and I accidentally stumbled upon your channel.
You were living in a tent? You were living in a F*$#&ING TENT? This feels like e joke from a comedy show... Thank you for sharing this story online! More people should hear about the absurdity the airline pilot profession has become in recent years...
Anyway, I hope everything's working out for you!
    Cheers!

Don't you guys get 5 star accommodation while flying? If you are fying for 5 days aren't you supposed to get a 5 start hotel to stay i mean its better to stay in hotel rather than staying in student accommodation and in ⛺!!

In my case I was based out of the location I flew from, I was a commuter, which my airline at the time recruited many. If you travel for work, it's their responsibility to provide accommodation. In this case what happened is that they changed the terms and conditions of work so that what I could make work was no longer sustainable.

The pilots are more of an autopilot operators at this point then real pilots, sich a boring job to sit for hours in theirs sits doing nothing.

So flying for a living sucks, and don’t waste your money, go into coding instead, the world needs coders not pilots, the aircraft will fly themselves soon anyway.

Tried getting into it a few times. But numbers give me a headache. Guess I'll be a subsistence farmer if I can't truck any more.
