Liked the video! I am really interested in this CB since learning about it earlier this week. I really like the idea of a bluetooth connection between the radio and mic. I have a Rav4 Prime and will likely mount the radio in the rear near the battery. Run the coax out from the rear hatch.
I just got this radio for my 2011 RAV4. The 12v port in my car is not tight enough to keep the electrical connection going. I'm thinking about making a custom 3d printed usb mount that mimics the locking connection to the box
You may need to add a ground strap between the antenna mount and the vehicle chassis in order to improve how the antenna loads in transmit mode. If the antenna feed point is "floating" and not grounded to the chassis you'll have problems with how it loads and radiation efficiency. Installing a HF antenna's on any vehicle can be challenging and it's all about compromise to get to the goal. If it were me, I would install the antenna at the back end of the vehicle, getting it as far away from the engine as possible. Think of the engine and it's associated electrical systems as potentially broadband RF noise sources and you're attempting to detect very weak signals with a sensitive radio receiver but placing the antenna very close to those noise sources. Since the 75 All Road handset is wireless to the black box transceiver, why not put both the antenna and black box somewhere in the back! I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities for an easy install back there!
I agree. I may have to move a few things around and get a better signal. It reads well as it is, but the location is not perfect, and the ground may be off. I have to play with it for sure. Thanks! I'll keep u all posted. P.S. I tried finding an antenna mount for the back area (such as a rear light bracket) but couldn't find one sadly. I may, however, fabricate one.
Oh its a monster, created by a handful of items. I used a standard universal style ball mount, but the ball mount itself is attached to an air vent mount. THEN.... I added a universal mic mount onto the ball..... Its a mess. I would like to mount something more permanent, however there isn't many places to safely drill into on the Rav4 dash. Still making some things up as I go! lol. Let me know if you come across anything!
@@themr.kiddnetwork5715 I’m looking for a mounting plate that goes over the A/C controls but haven’t found one yet for a RAV4. Might have to modify one from a Tacoma
Great video. I have a question, I did install this rig on my Jeep and everything is great with the exception of when I PTT can hear myself on the Jeep speakers. I installed an off market car stereo that works with my phone Bluetooth I thought was because my phone connection but that’s not the case. Any idea what can be the problem?
@hipolitoortiz6182 I got some feedback when my electronics were too close to the antenna or cord, then the speakers would pickup the transmission, but it was more "noise" than audio. Interesting..... I'll be doing a simple walk through soon, maybe that will answer some questions.
@@themr.kiddnetwork5715 I was talking with a friend and he said might be because I having power up from the lighter plug and that’s why I’m getting the RF. I’ll going direct from battery what was the original idea and add some chock. I did power up from lighter because had exiting to go on air with it. But the original plan is direct battery. I’ll keep you post. Thank you so much for keep up with me Kidd.
I'm planning on doing a follow up video with the whole end of setup. Keep in touch. Only drilling I did was one hole in the mount itself for the ground cable.
I actually just took it out to the mountains this week and tested it. It was high, but not in the red. I'm going to chop the antenna and buy a backup. To make sure it's not the ground. If it's the ground I'll buy two plastic bushings and try and separate better. I also realized I get noise feedback when I turn on my ditch light due to the proximity. So I will eventually have to move it sadly, or just not use my ditch lights when I'm operating the CB.
This thing is a piece of crap. It does not do the wireless part well or even at all. I installed the black box under the back seat of my 2024 AT4X and once paired to the mic it is supposed to stay paired but it does not and the only way to pair it is to plug the mic into the black box which is under the back seat and then replug it into the dash usb but even then once I turn the truck off and back on it unpairs and most times will not pair again without taking back to the box and plugging it in under the back seat. I put in a support ticket with Cobra and they have done nothing with it for the last three days So they are also as worthless as the 75 All Road. I bought it because it is wireless but if that does not work then I've wasted my money. Do not waste you're money on the pile of crap.

Thanks! I have a 2023 XLE. What holder do you use for the handheld?

What's that mount the handset is mounted to?
@Eristotle23 so I ordered some ball mount accessories and customized a mount that attaches to the vent. Worked well!

Oh gosh I have no idea. Not sure if I understand correctly. The feedback is coming from the vehicle speaker? Or from the handheld?
@@themr.kiddnetwork5715
From the vehicle speaker even with the car turn off.

@hipolitoortiz6182 sounds like a solution! Interesting.... ya let me know I'll be curious!
where you make a whole in Anthena going to Hood?😊

Quick question does it need a Conventional Antenna im trying to get it for my Semi
I used a standard CB style antenna. Make sure to test with a swr meter, but I think any CB antenna should work.
how was the swr on the antenna?
