Anyways, would love to see a video about the books or animated series, I actually started rereading the books the other day because the release of the new movie got me back into my Descendants hyper fixation. I remember the first time I read Isle of the Lost, it was pretty soon after it first came out and I did it for a 3rd grade book report. They did that whole staggered release thing too so the book dropped before the movie, so I actually read the prequel before I saw the movie. Honestly Descendants is involved in some of my best memories from my tween years (outside of the iconic middle grade book series), from my sister and I making our own descendants musical with legos to karaoke with our friends to literally acting in a descendants play during summer camp (I played Jay because I was tall and only one boy tried out). I love these movies even if they’re objectively kinda stupid, though even at age twelve I was cringing at the character decisions in D3.
i stand by 12-year-old me's expectations for descendants 2, in that it was a full fledged mind control story and they made ben evil. the ending would disappoint me bc something something morals, but i think they could have and should have committed to the bit

I always figured that they basically imply the fairy god mother’s wand is the wand that put up the barrier, so it should work taking it down from inside the isle.also it seems like really powerful magicians can still use some type of magic on the island because what else was mal and maleficent green eyed staring contest thingy. also dude being able to talk on the isle and the fact that the barrier is normally broken by a button on an electric remote makes no sense

I think describing Descendants as "fairytale characters exist in the same universe and they have children" would confuse anyone with Ever After High, the appropriate description would be "all the characters from classic Disney films exist in the same universe and they have children" because that's what it really is. this universe only uses the disney versions of these fairy tales.

I totally agree with nearly everything you said, especially about taking down the barrier in D3, like yes all the kids should have gotten to go to Auradon but some of the parents are literally murderers! Anyways, would love to see a video about the books or animated series, I actually started rereading the books the other day because the release of the new movie got me back into my Descendants hyper fixation. I remember the first time I read Isle of the Lost, it was pretty soon after it first came out and I did it for a 3rd grade book report. They did that whole staggered release thing too so the book dropped before the movie, so I actually read the prequel before I saw the movie. Honestly Descendants is involved in some of my best memories from my tween years (outside of the iconic middle grade book series), from my sister and I making our own descendants musical with legos to karaoke with our friends to literally acting in a descendants play during summer camp (I played Jay because I was tall and only one boy tried out). I love these movies even if they’re objectively kinda stupid, though even at age twelve I was cringing at the character decisions in D3.
i stand by 12-year-old me's expectations for descendants 2, in that it was a full fledged mind control story and they made ben evil. the ending would disappoint me bc something something morals, but i think they could have and should have committed to the bit
