Well explained Pete. For those folks that want to be super accurate, I would recommend setting the spreader to 1/2 rate and apply in two directions (perpendicular to each other).
Thanks for the review Pete. I have had that same 2150 Earthway spreader for 3 years. Great value for the money. I would strongly recommend it for everyone, especially if they take advantage of the discount code.
Had my first full season with one of these spreaders last year. It works great! It does take about 30-45 to assemble as Pete says but it’s worth it. I find most fertilizers are set to 17.5-18 on this spreader. Great job Pete! Go Jaxx go!!!
Nice video. I've got my 2150 about 2-3 years. I had no idea there was a side deflector option, which would be great to keep material out of the pool. Side spred control doesn't give enough control so I have to work fast and sweep up anything that hits the pool floor. The stains have really peaved the wife so I've got her walking along side me with a board protecting the pool. Earthway will be getting a call on Monday!
Thank you for the video, Pete! Been looking at spreaders as my green one from the big box store has seen better days and I really am tired of the plastic wheels.
I did a lot of research and decided on two, cross shopped an Earthway 2600A Plus with the RB-60 and I found a better deal on the 2600. Earthway makes great residential spreaders and it's kind of ridiculous you can't find something under $125 than will last some time these days. The 40lb capacity of the 2600 and the big tires means easy pushing. Typically that's about one bag of fertilizer per 5000 square feet. Good enough for me. God bless Pete, we're here with you.
Ordered one based on your video. I’ll also be getting some TTTF/KBG seed soon for a fall renovation....and yes, I’ll be mowing at 4+ this year. Thanks Pete.
Pete, I own the 2600A Earthway, grow your tttf, and am experimenting with some new Lesco ferts this year so thank you for your video today and settings for a 180 prill size!
I have an older version that doesn't use the side deflectors. It has an extra hole left and right with a blocking tab you can adjust to full open, partial open, or closed. This way, it's not dumping more product against the deflector. I also added a zip tie to the spinner by looping the end of it. Works great. I have found using it at half full for some products works best.
Just picked up my own 2150. I had the junkie Scotts plastic wheel ones and never cared for them. My yard is pretty hilly/sloped so I like the tires being a lot wider than the bucket. Seems like it'll be good and stable on the slopes. Was about to pull the trigger on the Echo your buddy had, but as a born and raised Hoosier, can't beat something from back home that made in America.
I have this spreader it's amazing the only bad thing is the flat bottom of the bucket {not even that bad just a little shake and hop} but it's a lot better than the cheap box store spreaders I love this thing.
Kbg specific guide for the transition zone? Will be coming into my first Spring here in upstate SC after my KBG reno last Fall (SPF 30 cultivar). So far looking so sweet in the Spring but any pointers appreciated for how to get it to have the best chance through the summer. I do have in ground sprinklers and don’t mind watering a bunch as needed. Really enjoying how thick it is filling in as compared to the TTTF in the past.
the agitator pin just plain sucks being far too small. I drilled out the main shaft hole and ran through a long threaded stainless rod, then added two butterfly or sometimes called wing nuts on the ends with stainless cap nuts to act as keepers. This keeps all the product nice n stirred up. Before this mod, it would just clog in the center leaving a sort of a volcano look
I finally used my new Earthway 2600A Plus. Put on the setting and basically used too much product 😂. Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I love the tires but I notice a lot of the product hits the tires. Perhaps they should be smaller. The one issue I have with it, and this is my fault I suppose, but when I looked at pictures I thought the product would be going down into a cone shape, instead it's flat by the "agitator" which leaves too much product just sitting there. I need to basically wiggle the spreader left and right to get the rest of the product out. Almost feel like my basic Scotts spreader from home Depot left less product. I'll try this again but looks like it'll be another month until I do.
This might be my next purchase to replace my $30 Scots spreader. I got no problem with you accepting products from companies to test as long as they let you do an honest review. Shows you they're confident they have a good product and if there are issues they will fix them with your feedback. Companies that want to succeed advertising on RUclips need to do what Earthway and Green Touch have done and let the pros like you show off their stuff.
Another great video thanks. I'm just South of you on the NC SC border I've been thinking about Kentucky Blue grass as well, maybe rotate seeding Blue and Fescue every year. Being from MN I like my Blue Grass. Thanks Pete
Very helpful instructions, Pete. I like idea of the Protene homogeneous prills. I’ve gone a little overboard with the spray ferts / bio stims and granular, and want to simplify my program. In your experience, has the Protene stayed consistent through the 90 day app window?
I have been hearing about the Earthway for a while. From you in NC, to Allyn in FL. Was shocked to see that their place is only 20 minutes from my house. Wonder if I can pick up in person and get a little better deal on the price.
Jesus is Lord! Thanks for great content as always Pete!! It's hilarious you post this today, as this past weekend my stinking spreader quit working on me. I've had a buddy help get it back going, but that Earthway looking mighty nice right now!
Hey I have a question. Might be a stupid one but is the Protene kid and pet ready/friendly when you put it down? Only asking because my kids are 6, 4 and my little guy will be 2 on the 24th. They love to play outside now that it’s getting nice out. Just wanted to make sure it’s ok for crazy kids who roll around in the grass. Love the videos and keep it up Pete.
You prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any help you can offer me!
@Gus Jimmy Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi Pete, I love your videos and subscribed last week and got on the email list. I want to purchase 25lbs of your Blue Heat, I live in Colorado and want to renovate my yard this fall. When I look on the website it says out of stock, can you tell me when it will be available? Love your content.
Pet I've been watching your videos for awhile. And I listen to them while I mow especially the ones that have music. What kind of music is it that you put in your video
They corrected the seller on Amazon. They are not allowed to sell below a certain price and that's what they were doing. Its fixed now. Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate that.
Agitator's to short, I'd think by sweeping the holes to keep the product moving at a place that it could plug would be better and it seemed loud to me.... was it loud Pete and did it push easily, as in did it take much effort? My old spreader is broke-in and rusty, it glides through the grass with little effort, even full of product. I guess the real question is did it have much rolling resistance when pushed? Thanks again
Thank you for answering so quickly.. on year two of my lawn care program.. and what a difference a good quality seed makes.. I'll be looking forward to it.
how is the setting adjustment on the 2150? recently bought the 2600A Plus to upgrade my cheap Scotts and the drop hole lever/adjustment was horrible. spent 2 hours trying to adjust it with no luck. between the very thin lever arm and plastic parts there was way too much play flex to get a proper drop setting and had to return it.
also, everyone knows you're not a sellout for receiving free stuff. you get us honest reviews on home owner diy equipment that otherwise you personally would never buy since you do this for living and don't have the need to buy a 40 lb push spreader when you already have the top notch professional commercial equipment. its an opportunity for you to make some more cool videos, company gets their name out there, and we get an honest fun review and if we want it we get to save some money because of you. its a WIN WIN WIN for everyone
I don't like the manual control lever and wing nut. It's a terrible design and you will not be able to precisely adjust and match the recommended setting printed on the fertilizer bag... for example a 5 to 5-1/2 o 6 to 6-1/2, . For the price they want, this is an expensive spreader with a chincy control lever.
I’m a big fan of yours but a little disappointed. You have preached in the past about buying equipment and giving an honest review. Is sounds like Earthway gave this to you in return for a review. I hope my perspective is wrong. .
Yep...your perspective is wrong friend...I suggest you not consider buying any earthway spreader since my decision to accept this spreader has made you think twice. Probably the last thing I will ever accept for free because of this comment. I take this stuff VERY seriously.
Come on now Les, pretty obvious to tell who is out to make money and who is here to help their customers, seems pretty clear that Pete falls into the latter. But comments like yours not only are false but you’ve possibly ruined future opportunities for the rest of us because he’s trying to protect his reputation.
I, for one, truly appreciate your honest reviews on equipment. Please continue doing what you do Pete. I think if the listener appreciates your review, it won't swing them either way whether you paid for the equipment or not.
Last week I reached out to Pete to see if he had any sprayer nozzles left for sale for a Sprayers Plus 105EX. Instead of selling me something Pete asked for my address and sent me 2 FREE TeeJet nozzles and said Be blessed my brother. I don't think we need to question Pete's intentions or integrity here. For those who have the courage read, John 8:7.
Good evening Pete and all watching .
Well explained Pete. For those folks that want to be super accurate, I would recommend setting the spreader to 1/2 rate and apply in two directions (perpendicular to each other).

Wow! This is long time coming. This was the recommended spreader in the GCI turf academy . Glad to have a video on it.
Just ordered an Earthway 2600 from Lowe’s 6 hours ago, then I see your video:)
Are you going to use the same 13 setting ? I have that one as well .. just want to make sure if it’s 30 across all earth way
Nice video. I've got my 2150 about 2-3 years. I had no idea there was a side deflector option, which would be great to keep material out of the pool. The good old spreader bouncy bounce. Been there and done that....!

That looks like my Andersons Yard Star. I think they are both made by Earthway, the Andersons just had a green hopper.
I have an older version that doesn't use the side deflectors. It has an extra hole left and right with a blocking tab you can adjust to full open, partial open, or closed. I love my earth way! Thanks for the honesty!
Hey Pete! Perfect timing. I bought a 2150 earlier this month. I’m putting down protene tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for the help!

Good video Pete! I’ve been looking at new spreaders and this one is on the list. I’m between this and a Spyker.
I have had one for quite a long time and love it!
C'MON JULY! Gonna be a fun set of videos to follow!
I’ll be by the shop tomorrow to get some grass seed Pete!

Good evening Pete. Great explanation bud. 👊🏼👍🏻
Perfect timing Pete. Just so happen to have a Earthway spreader with a bag of Protene on the way! Thank you for your hard work!
It was cool to see Cole the corn star spreading out some blue heat on his channel :)
Great timing Pete! New spreader :-)
Indiana loves you Pete.
Great video. I thought there was a bird in my house with all the chirping. Lol
Good video! I really like the Protein fertilizer!! I just applied two weeks ago, and its looks great!! God Bless you Pete!!
Great video, have you ever tried the commercial spiker broadcast spreader, if yes what was thoughts or recommendations ? Thanks

I can’t seem to find the side deflector part. I bought a 40lb Earthway couple years ago and love it except no edge guard
Good evening Pete. If you make it back to Indy Pete dinner is on me. For you and your fam. I’ll even take you to church with me.
I might take you up on that bro!

@Mr. Ferguson Lawn I was about to send this to you!
kills me everytime you smoke off a beautiful TTTF lawn. i'm a fescue guy, there's nothing else for me man. But always a good watch, thanks brotha
I definitely can relate to the directions. I'm not reading jack when I put something together and just use the "Force" to get it done -LMAO

Yes sir it is and if you want to be extra cautious just apply the Protene and then water it in...once you do that you are good to go.
I have the same spreader....want another one. What are the settings for your tall fescue seed? Overseeding?
Just set it to the 'Corona' setting... Then it becomes a super spreader. I thank you.
You prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?

@Marcus Felix No problem xD
Wow very good

If Pete believes we can do it, we're in good hands.
That's nice of earthway to give us 5% off but they cheaper on Amazon and you get them next day. They need to step up and really give a discount.
They corrected the seller on Amazon. They are not allowed to sell below a certain price and that's what they were doing. Its fixed now. Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate that.

Hey peat what fertilizer have you applied to your lawn and what are the results on it ?? My lawn still has yellow in my lawn
Ah Pete mate good on ya.
Hey Pete, does the TFFF spread on its own like K31 does? Or need to plant more in bare patches
Just bought this spreader 2 weeks ago. Tired of the scotts elite spreaders, they are junk. Build quality on the Earthway is A+.
Pete, I hope you can have Kentucky Blue for many years, but it is difficult, I mean difficult having Kentucky blue for the length of 10-20 yrs.
There’s so many factors having it looking beautiful
How much material should I be putting down per 1000 feet for bermuda grass in west Texas?
Good video, thanks!
First! Good evening Pete
Hey Pete, would you take this one or the Echo RB-60 you tried a couple weeks back? The Echo is about 1/2 the cost if that'd factor in.
Which did you go with
?
@@jdmgsr05 I bought a lesco used. It was too big for my small yard so I sold it. Back to the old Scotts spreader for now.
