Hey Pete! Just wanted to thank you for the grass seed. I put it down on Sept 21 and today it is aggressively poking up through the peet moss I put over it. That's 5 days! Amazing product brother! I faithfully kept it moist, watering about three times a day. So - thanks for the advice too! Its going to look great here in Chapel Hill!
Thanks for the video. I just bought a used version of this spreader with the third whole kit for opening and closing. I wasn’t sure exactly what it was for!
Thank you for explaining this, I got my first acreage and just bought a broadcast spreader. I golf a lot and saw that the maintenance guys use Lesco products, so I thought if it's good enough for the links, it's good enough for me. Thanks for showing me how to set up this spreader for the 30-0-10 I picked up and I learned a lot!
Would you want a third hole slide cable set up for that lesco spreader? You would not have to bend down each time to adjust the third hole slide. Kit mounts quickly to the spreader to existing holes.
Good video Pete. You need a Permagren Agitator in that lesco spreader. Same one that fits all permagreens fits all lesco 3 hole spreaders. If you want one I can send you one for that spreader.
@@GCITurf ok cool, f you lived close to me I'd stop by and throw them in for you real quick but I'm in New Jersey.. You should sell them on your site. If you want to let Dan at PG know.
Great video, I have a question out of all the spreaders you have used over the last couple of years which on works the best for you, and last over over period of time? Have you ever done a video on different spreaders , and you reason chose the particular one? Thanks
I would try buying a cheep one from global industrial supply they are like $200 shipped. It has bigger holes and you can probably enlarge them to get more product out. Maybe even put a bigger agitator in it also.
yep because thats all I had was a grasshopper. Its kinda like driving a nice honda accord and then getting a real nice BMW. Both are excellent machines but the Ventrac is money!
the previous pass made with the spreader will leave 2 tire tracks in the grass. Throw the material back to that tire track closest to you. this way you overlap for even coverage that make sense??
Yep, you don't have to be a rocket rocket surgeon do the math. I just figure out how many pounds of product per 1,000 square feet, and how many square feet I'm working with in an area. So for over-seeding at 5 lbs per 1,000 on 10k square feet of lawn would be 50 lbs of seed. I pour in half of the 50 lb bag in my spreader, then I do half rate in one direction, and then pour in the rest of the bag (usually bump the rate up 1 notch since I tend to walk fast) and cross back in the opposite direction, therefore doing double passes. It's just like double mowing in a cross-hatch pattern.
hey pete. worse professional spreader ive ever seen. closing plate is in the bottom of the already deep holes instead of closer to the top to prevent fert dust buildup and funnel effect. 3 holes means smaller opening and when u get a small clump or rock it messes up the amount of fert being used and spread pattern. 2 or even 1 hole is better. when fertilizing i feel that the hopper weight is to forward and not leaning back enough causing it to be top heavy and you cant lean the weight back because the frame wont allow it. Am I the only one who thinks this? please comment

Helpful stuff! Start at a low setting and make more passes until you figure out your own calibration. Have a great weekend, bro!
Thanks man, I’m in charge of doing all the lawns for my company and there’s a lot to learn
Mornin Pete! I'm putting down 25lbs of GCI seed today after aerating. Have a great weekend! ✝️
I ordered my GCI grass seed yesterday! It arrived at my house today! Wow! Never though it would come that fast!

Mr Efficiency yes sir. I have 5-6 of them new in the package. I need some time to change them

I too would love one of these. Where can I get one? (or two...)
Hey Pete can you do. Video on how to use the Lesco calibration keys thanks
Hey Pete could you do a video on the Lesco spreader calibration keys. Didn’t see one on RUclips yet would be interesting how to use them. Thanks
Great video, I have a question out of all the spreaders you have used over the last couple of years which on works the best for you, and last over over period of time? Have you ever done a video on different spreaders , and you reason chose the particular one? Thanks
I like the lesco commercial ones. They don’t break. I’ve got one I’ve been using almost 10 years or so.
Pete, can you use the Lesco to spread Peat Moss like you did with your gas spreader?
DaveAtUofL good question.
I have an older model Lesco like his and I don't think it'd work. Clumpy Milorganite wouldn't even feed through those holes.

@@jaimz11 clumpy milorganite flows just fine when a Permagren Agitator is installed.
DaveAtUofL I don’t think that will work
Aerated yesterday, putting down grass seed and fert today. Good video!!
Great info Pete! I get that same question a lot. Folks love it when I say depends.
Is this video for fertilizers that don't have the calibration/ spreader settings on the bag?
Any way to buy used Lesco Spreaders? They are beasts. But so darn expensive new.
Buy once cry once. You don’t see them used because they last forever if cleaned, greased and kept indoors.
Pete....how does the grasshopper/aeravator compare with ventrax/ aeravator?
LOL No comparison between the 2 man. The Ventrac hands down wins that race. That would make for a good video for sure
GCI Turf Services... must be awlfully good because you sure felt like grasshopper was the Cadillac of seeders last year.
yep because thats all I had was a grasshopper. Its kinda like driving a nice honda accord and then getting a real nice BMW. Both are excellent machines but the Ventrac is money!
what kind of expert are you if you don't know my spreader settings!??!? j/k sir. Another very educational video!
Helpful. Didn't exactly understand what you meant by throwing it to the inside of the wheel on the second pass though.
the previous pass made with the spreader will leave 2 tire tracks in the grass. Throw the material back to that tire track closest to you. this way you overlap for even coverage that make sense??
Yes it does. Thank you.
@@GCITurf i was taught to overlap a foot. You would be overlapping 6 feet?🤔
@@michaelperry4398 we throw back to the inside tire tracks...pretty standard with most ride on spreaders
Another great video Pete!
Hey Pete....I went through 2 ~ 50 lb bags of seed this week. Did GCI exceed that ?
Steve Willey somewhat. LOL
Great video! Love your wrist band too!
Informative video Pete. Thanks for sharing.😁👍👍

Good vid! Thanks Pete!

Get your spreader settings right😀
On aLesco spreader “f” equals fertilizer setting , joking
