Woodford Reserve double oaked is apparently a top go to as well, if you haven't tried so already! I just purchsed my first bottle this week. I will try the "early times" soon and is next on my list.

The only reason Blantons gets hated on is its priced at liquor stores ridiculously. It's a great 60 to 70 dollar bourbon but jeez most liquor stores want 125 and up for it which is just stupid.

My 3 favorites, from smoother to more harsh, are the Bernheim Original 90 proof Wheat Whiskey, the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, and the 100 proof Early Times. Since I live in KY, a good one to share is one of the Smoke Wagons from Las Vegas.

Great mixer Rittenhouse has an amazing flavor profile for cocktails but I sip it neat too it has beautiful warm spices
My special occasion pour is JD SB BP Rye. It's rare and I have only found it once in the wild and is in my top 10 whiskeys of all time for me and what i like.
We have heard such good things about that SBBP Rye. We see it a good bit down here any maybe that’s why we haven’t picked one up yet. But we absolutely have to change that soon! 🥃
I did this once before, so I will have to do it again sometime. I like your picks. I do like New Riff a lot. I will have to try that Ry3. I have seen it a few times, but have passed. That Woodford is on my bucket list. Nice choice for a special occasion. I really want to try that Penelope American Light. Great bottles. Thanks guys!

unfortunately base benchmark (which is still good) and early times does not get to my area. personally, i'd go with hitting different whiskey categories wild turkey 101 bourbon and rye for mixing, aberlour 12, jameson black barrel, and woodford double oaked. these are bottles i can go to any store and find very easily that i make drinks with and sip on. if i was doing only bourbon it would be wild turkey 101, knob creek 120, woodford double oaked, old elk blended, and stagg (if i can find it. i have one but haven't opened it yet). honorable mentions are old emmer cask strength, bourbon barrel seagrass, rare bread, e.h. taylor, smokehead tequila cask, and my infinity bottle.

Blanton's, IMO, is the most over rated bourbon out there. Where I live, its 70 bucks retail when you can find it. I pass on it whenever I'm offered one. Should be a 35 dollar bottle, tops.
Definitely agree that it’s overrated, the last Blantons we had sips hot and just off so I can definitely say that that one shouldn’t be 60-70 dollars lol
