No offense to the runner, but 4:17 isn't impressive. I've done it left handed (normally right handed) at 4:08. Right handed I'll usually break 4 minutes.
Like I said, no offense and respect to the runner. Maybe he was just going light.

For anyone who doesn't run, just know that hundreds of hours and thousands and thousands of miles go into running at this level. I remember biking to school every day at 5:30am to run 4 miles with my guys before showering and going to class, then getting out of school to run and train for 3-4 more hours. Bro I’m a running noob, should I increase mileage to run faster or do (tempo + easy + vo2max + speed + long run) or should I do 4-5 long runs a week for much higher mileage? I ran today 10 miles in 90 minutes, but wanna be able to run half marathon in 90. My 5k is 23 minutes

I do intervals at this pace and even though I have to try not to kick the treadmill on an incline I only last a minute or two at most. A whole mile? Not if I plan on doing anything physical afterwards, possibly for the rest of the week.

At my best, standing at 6'1 205lbs, I could run a 6:30 for 3 miles without stopping. After mile 3 it would slow to about a 7:10-7:30 till about mile 5, then I would clean up 1 or 2 more at an 8 mph pace. I could never get under 6:30 no matter how hard I tried. You two made this look effortlessly and both have beautiful/ perfect form. While I don't run like that anymore (sucks getting old) it's a big inspiration . You guys are beasts, finely tuned machines.
