Yeah. I know it’s easier and faster to jog/run downhill but I feel like it will hurt your knees and other joints a lot. I’m not scientist nor did I do any research. I’m just saying this from experience with running downhills and just general thinking.
My PR on the 1km is 3:19 min. Got that in almost a straight line and a very strong wind in the back. Use the environment and situation in your advantage.
Sub 5 minutes is still blazing fast no matter how you look at it. Sub 4 has to do with genetics, not training. Most people could train their entire life and never hit sub 4. The fastest two mile I've ever done was 12:04 but there was a guy I knew who ran 10:10... Fucking insane
Very dangerous to push that hard on such an aggressive gradient. The combination of close-to-all-out effort plus the extra impact and increased speed from the added drop makes injury far more likely than on flat ground.
Had this wild dude in high school who was in JROTC. He would wear a weight vest and ankle weights to school everyday and the dude ran a 4:20 mile. It was insane.

Also Runners: Let's see if we can do a 4 minute mile.
